GAF, design a logo for my business! UPDATE: See the winning designs!

After careful review (in addition to accommodating a number of late entries), I’ve finally come to a decision. However, I found myself unable to just choose one of you amazingly talented designers just yet. I’m so overwhelmed by the quality of your work that I honestly can't.

Initially, I had planned to choose one winner after this first go-around and move on from there, but now I feel that I have to ask for one more thing before I can finalize my pick.

So here’s what is going to happen:

I have chosen THREE finalists among the dozens of entries I received. It was enormously difficult, but I had to narrow it down a select few. I have already sent the guidelines to these three, so if you have not received a PM with the guidelines, you were not chosen as one of the three finalists. I truly appreciate your talent and effort submitting your work products, and it was extremely gratifying to get a taste of all of your skills.

To the three finalists (I will not reveal their names, but they are free to if they’d like): Please abide by the stated guidelines. I am not asking for finished work, so if your submission is not 100% polished, that’s okay. Among the three finalists, the person whose submission is closest to the vision I have outlined in my guidelines is the one who will be awarded the task of designing my logo for $1,500.

Each of the three finalists will be awarded $200 for their efforts. For the winner, that $200 will be considered a preliminary deposit toward the $1,500 award. Payment details will be sent to the winner following an initial online consultation.

Best of luck to the finalists – I’m ridiculously excited to see what you do!
 
DANG. I would've entered this if I knew this was going on. I guess it's too late to enter? :(

Also: if you are the real Leona Lewis, that's crazy. I was just listening to Trouble. I can't tell if I'm being trolled though.

Doubt I'll have time to do this but wanted to add my props for offering a decent incentive that shows respect for the industry, good stuff man. Direct commissions will always beat out no-spec/competition style work but at least you're offering decent compensation.

Wow, long time no see. Just wanted to drop by with an update:

ElectricBlanketFire, Adol, and snorggy were the three finalists, and each received $200 for their initial submissions. Based on certain confidential specifications I sent to the finalists, they each came up with original designs that would determine the $1,500 grand prize winner.

I was really impressed with all three, and it was hard to choose. In the end, though, I went with snorggy, whose submission below blew me away:

We're currently tweaking the logo, and I'll document its "evolution" if any of you are interested.

I couldn't be happier with the results, and I knew I could count on GAF's charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent to produce something great for me and my business.
 
By way of background, Seed is my tutoring business that focuses on one-on-one academic instruction and tutoring/test prep.

I liked how Adol emphasizes the one-on-one aspect with the first one of his that I posted.

snorggy's more literal approach also excited me. The metaphor in his winning entry was quite keen, and immediately communicates something about my business.
 
The weird terminal on the G in learning seems off to me. Maybe a different sans serif would suit it better. Like the font in Snoggy's second sample maybe

Yeah, the "R" and "G" both look odd to me. Maybe the solution is indeed in that other submission.

So cool to see a collaborative effort by GAFers. Gratz to the winner. I bet GAF would have done it for free. :)

I have no doubt. I've seen some serious and semi-serious entries in the hilarious logo threads of yore that were totally professional looking.

But cash makes everything sweeter :-p

There's something about this one.. I really REALLY like it.
Minimalistic design, clean and elegant.
The use of colors was perfect, make great contrast and the idea just pops up.
The "Seed" font was a smart choice.. the "learning" one not so much. I would have used a bold font without brackets but overall a great work.

Congrats to the winner.
