1. Resident Evil 4 (Gamecube version); the best of the best. Even though it was no classical RE that i loved and adored it made a great transition from a classic survival horror game to a action pumped horror title.
2. Metal Gear Solid 3; a perfect blend of stealth, action and storytelling. While the second one is a typical sequel, the third one is much more fresh and better with all the changes it brought to the series.
3. The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker; oh boy, that was a controversial game when it came out. But as time passed by, everyone started to love it. Portraying Zelda as more than just a simple princess, Ganondorf was shown to be more than a generic bad dude.
4. Silent Hill 3; the story sequel to the original Silent Hill is a true masterpiece; great scares, graphics and a story that makes you feel bad untill the very end. The last great Silent Hill game
5. Metroid Prime; oh boy, Nintendo did it again! They brought a classic IP and threw it right in a 3D world and it worked!
6. Halo: Combat Evolved; Although Goldeneye was the first FPS game that has shown it is possible to play these games on a gamepad and have a blast in multiplayer, Halo did everything better. A grand campaign, co-op, multiplayer.
7. Resident Evil: Remake; the perfect remake, which after 13 years looks as good as when it released. A perfect blend of classic horror, with a few twists to the gameplay and mechanics make this the best Resident Evil game ever!
8. Advance Wars 2; the perfect sequel to the best turn-based strategy on the go! Now with more maps, units, CO's and better music! Yellow Comet ftw!
9. Shenmue 1; Although i list the first one, you really should play the sequel also. You can't play the first one and then drop out on the second. Mentioned because of the one-of-a-kind gameplay and story.
10. Burnout 3: Takedown; the best arcade racer of that generation. The sense of speed, great car destruction and music pumping you with adrenaline makes you want to play it from the beginning till the end in one time
honorable mentions:
x.Half Life 2; a great sequel to one of the best PC fps games ever; the Source engine showed things that were deemed impossible back then with great facial expresions and physics no other game had; thank you Gaben
