Ah does my heart good to see Wii Music and Crisis Core: FFVII so low. I only wish something could knock Smash Bros. out of the top ten (i remember when i was so sure it would be #1 on the list this year, glad I was wrong). Failing that, Go GAF.

It's a strategy RPG made by some of the Skies of Arcadia team. So even without playing it, I know it's something I'd love.

It's nice to see MGS4 and LittleBigPlanet get so much love :) My two best games of the year that's for sure. (Well, Killzone 2 Multiplayer beta would get my game of the year.. but I don't think that counts :)

Anyway, this is the first year where the number of games has actually gone down. I think this is mainly due to the PS2 dying out.

2004: 147 games
2005: 181 games
2006: 245 games
2007: 317 games
2008: 295 games (so far)

Makes me sad to see Burnout Paradise drop off the top 10. So many damn fun times with that game this year.

Valkyria Chronicles is a damn nice game though. I'm torn.

i gotta say i am a little surprised MGS4 made it so high. Not because it's bad or good (I haven't played it), but because it seemed there has been a LOT of backlash vs. this game, as opposed to MGS3 which most people loved post-camera change.

I surprised the hell out of my self when I saw it #1 on my list. Its not the game that gave me the most hours of enjoyment this year (that'd be Burnout), nor would it be the first game I'd recommend friends should buy (that'd be Left 4 Dead)... but... I do recommend anybody with a PS3 to at least experience it. Its one hell of a unique gaming experience - and what it does, it does very, very well. Probably the only game this year that I was compelled to finish like I was some kind of dope fiend.

And I've never even played any MGS games. Go figure.

I thought MGS4 would be the frontrunner, just because of the fanbase here. The only thing I wasn't sure about was whether the small PS3 userbase would hurt its chances.

Just a sketch. There were so many great games this year that it was impossible to play them all (sorry Persona 4 and World of Goo).

Not surprising to me at all. MGS4 had the most hype of any game on the list and the GAF membership is very pro-Sony. I really missed the MGS4 backlash..it was no where near GTA IV hive-hate, which I am surprised made the top 10 at all.
