The same way Drake talks about falling in love with whores for 17 tracks... Except Krit mixes it up a lot more.

Except every track doesn't start sounding the same with Drake. The tracks where Big KRIT actually decides to talk about something else beside candy paint, I enjoy those tracks

I think they're both really talented. Pretty much a draw there. Content is meh from both.

I see nothing but similarities.
NO.

Neither does Krit. He balances the "intellectual" side with the traditional south shit. He's just great at doing both.

So, Minaj=Eminem. Ok, thats enough idiocy for me tonight.

Precisely. You could even match up their impacts on the genre for their respective rapper minorities (white, female). The Nicki effect is just about as strong as the Em effect as far as I can tell.

And yo, what's wrong with candy paint and woodgrain lacs? If you want to hear sad, introspective stories about a girl who got kicked out of college, is pregnant with twins from a dead heroin addict whom she was attracted to by being sexually assaulted by her alcoholic father and sleeps in a dumpster, there's always Atmosphere.

I'll take the bowling ball swirl 10 times out of 10. And no, there is no grey area! lol

Ok, i want to believe you are not this stupid and you are just trolling. Em came into a world that had almost no respect for white rappers. He completely took the rap game over for his first 3-4 years. He brought credibility to white rappers. Female MC's have had respect for a long time. I have to believe you have selective memory and do not remember Missy, Lil Kim, Lauryn Hill, Eve, Etc. Minaj is to Female rappers as Vanilla Ice was to white rappers. She isnt bringing legitimacy, she is doing the opposite.

Minaj has already easily eclisped every other female rapper in terms of population penetration. I don't remember every girl in school trying to rap like Missy when Supa Fly came out.

The song title is so apt. I mean, I can see the hate coming, but I don't understand it. She's certainly the most entertaining female rapper out there.

You really think Eve had the same effect on society as Nicki? Have you seen all the girls on YouTube doing their Nicki thing? How many high schoolers in the 90s recorded their own little rap demo tape because of Lil Kim?

Seriously Recon, the two stories couldn't be more similar. They both rode coattails to the top and got there with a quirky new gimmicky flow. Em didn't do anything for legitimacy of white rappers. Still to this day everyone expects a white rapper to be a loser drug addict.

That is your perception. Em didnt have a gimmicky flow either, maybe you can say his content was gimmicky, but that is an opinion. If you really think Nicki has had the same influence Em did, then you really are as stupid as you are making yourself out to be. You have had a slew of insane opinions, but this one, this one is even dumb by your standards.

What.. why? I don't even. I'm not the biggest Em fan, but come on. He's a legend.

I've said it before, but that was my first culture shock when talking about hip hop with people outside of my irl friends. We all liked Em and everything, but really didn't count him with other rappers. Not trolling there. I swear, before GAF HOP and other little blogs and stuff, I had no clue people counted him as a "real" rapper. Like, one you'd compare to other rappers.

No order. If Common turns out to be excellent, I'll put him in place of Stalley, T&A, or Drake. I anticipate Jeezy to bang and Schoolboy Q to be great, but not top 10 caliber.

You had no clue? Did you ever read magazine that wasnt the source? Almost every rapper in the game has respect for Em, but you and your buddies didnt.... Whatever, this isnt one of those opinion things, it is a fact that he is one of the most respected artists in Hip-hop. Even those who didnt like his music respected his ability. And with that, im done with this..whatever this is. Im too happy right now, just got done watching Batman Begins and The Dark Knight with my girl.

Same here. My list is pretty much solidified aside from a open spot or two. Depending on how things go VLNS NVR DIE may scoot its way into mine. It's the one album that I've listened through a good few times and can't come to a decision on. It's def top 20 material though.

Theres also Recon's tape, just saying haha.

Also- my favorite mixtape of the year might be an "unofficial" release- 50 cent's street king tracks taken together are too damn good. Heres a dl link for them compiled:

I didn't realize haha. Never bought digital music from Amazon or iTunes before. Just from bandcamp or CDs

It's up to $5.99 now. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005AJ8A94/?tag=neogaf0e-20

No biggie. I was on boycott while it was iTunes exclusive (well, giving him money boycott:p ), but once it got to Amazon I copped it.

Yo, who in here is using Google Music? It's fucking AWESOME. It automatically uploads anything you put in your music folder to your Google account and you can stream from your Android. It even auto converted my FLAC files.

Yeah, I've had an eye out for that one for a little while. You dudes need to get to beatin that Christmas date cut off.

Also, Kam, I've been preaching that Google Music gospel since the beginning. It doesn't transcode Alac though, which is big deal, since I manage my library in Itunes and have gotten all of my bandcamp purchases in Alac.

We've already heard Sweet and the joint with Nas.

Does anyone think there are going to be better tracks than those? I mean, just keep Sweet and call it a day. Comm hasn't come that hard since the 90s and might never come that hard again. I don't want to hear Barnes&Noble Comm.

I was on iTunes years ago. HDD crashed, had all my music on a huge iPod. Tried to move my music from iPod to computer, iTunes told me to fuck off. Haven't been back since.

With Google Music, you can stream or download your music from any phone or computer. Really nice knowing it's all safe even if my back up drive crashes.

Dropping the same day as Jeezy? You're gonna miss the hood demographic man. Push that shit back. Are you still rocking the Grieves cover?(constructive criticism, seriously)

Knowledge is power, guard it well
The only albums definitely in my Top 10:

Action Bronson - Bon Appitite
Action Bronson - Well Done
Danny Brown - XXX
Drake - Take Care
Kendrick Lamar - Section.80

The other five spots are going to take some serious listening and analysis. I expect to get weird looks if some of the contenders actually make it.

Yup and yup. To be honest, i wasnt thinking Grieves at all, but i noticed it after it was done. Also, Dec.20th was the date i was arrested 3 years ago. Seems fitting since i did a 180 with my life, that i put something creative out that day.

you mean common. right?

People in the hood don't listen to Common. ProTip hip hop fans: If you live in the struggle, you don't want to hear about it when you listen to music. You see it enough. That's why celebratory music is so popular in the hood.

Well grats on getting it out. Lord knows it's more than I've done. I've just now got 2 songs -all the way done-. Like, I won't even open the project in Audacity anymore, done.

I'm only trying to get 5 though.

AOTY: Section 80. Y'all know how i feel about this one. Lush beats contrasted with kendrick's goofy flow, plenty of variety, catchy and lyrical. I don't know where Kendrick wants to go from here, or really why exactly this is my aoty, but i do know that I've been spinning this shit all year. I just keep coming back to it on the reg, and probably always will. It's not perfect. But what is good is classic 5 mics quality from the golden era.

Rapper of the Year: Big KRIT. R4 was incredible, features were dope.... This guy's name is written in the hip hop stars. Don't give a fuck if he doesn't stack stacks, cause he cannot spit a verse that doesn't make me turn my head.

Producer of the Year: Alchemist. Covert Coup was dark and moody, haunting boom bap shit. Great contrast with Curren$y. Then he brought the heat again with Roc Marciano in Greneberg- a pairing that i thought had tons of grimy chemistry. He also contributed tracks to the new Wu, REKS, Cats & Dogs, Mobb Deep, and Royce. I can't see any other contender.

Song of the Year: Ski Beatz-Amnesia. I don't know what it is. I dont know who these rappers are. There's something about this that tugs at my heartstrings though(classic Ski), and the beat is something i've been whistling for months. Runners up are Keisha's Song and New Day.

Verse of the Year: Gibbs on Scottie Pippens. If you haven't heard that shit, you might as well get out of the thread.

Hustler of the Year: Curren$y. I wanna give him the above award but i just CAN'T. He gave us 3 albums and more of quality, quality shit. Hardest working stoner emcee ever. However, he also fucked himself over a little by showing some lack of versatility in the 2nd half of the year, whereas KRIT i think can ride anything.

Rookie of the Year: Chuuwee. Came out of nowhere. I want more. Now.

Disappointment of the Year: Watch the Throne. Zombie Jay-Z, flashes of brilliance contrasted with tons of inane, overbearing carnival crap. Considering what it could have been maybe half a decade back is sad. The actual range of samples is erratic, and it makes the whole album sound like a mishmash of random shite. Some good tracks, so many skipped ones.

Embarassment to Hip Hop of the Year: Big Sean actually getting popular. He's kinda catchy, but....eggggh.

Comeback of the Year: DMX. It's starting this year, but itll happen. Believe.

Don't have a top 10, but my disappointment of the year is easily Radioactive.

Was mine at first too, but after repeated listens, i like it. It just wasnt what i was expecting. I think my biggest surprise of the year was A Sucker For Pumps. I can see myself coming back to that a lot in the next year.

Yup. It still has it's joints, but it might be the first album I actually delete songs off in my music collection.

I was basically a Yela stan before it came out. Now, I don't know if we'll ever get the real Yela back. He needs to drop Trunk Muzik 3 mixtape like, yesterday. Redemption time Yela.

Lasers would take this award, but I wasn't looking forward to it! haha. Odd that you would think Radioactive was worse than Lasers though. Thought you were a big Lupe buy overcast? Laser was certainly further from the mark than Radioactive.

Lasers is definitely my biggest dissapointment. He redeemed himself a bit with FOTP and ATIII.

And damn, this ASAP tape goes hard, my head rattles. Rocky still is kinda mediocre.
