100 Ways to Save Hip Hop

While I never aided in the Hip Hop Is Dead campaign or thought that my favorite genre of music was in need of “saving”, it’s obvious that things could be… better (especially in the mainstream). That isn’t to say that were at a lack of dope music though. Hell, this year alone produced some incredible projects. So much that I’m still trying to thin out my Year End list so we can get it up before the New Year. Anyways, while browsing the net on one of the slowest days of the year I came across this list on TiRon’s tumblr. 100 ways to save hip hop

I feel like I'm 16 and writing Black Starr lyrics on my notebooks to prove how lyrical shit>dancing shit. Fuck that list, grow up and enjoy what you enjoy, hip hop fans. The genre is in a great place. Even the mainstream is more lyrical than it was just 5 years ago

Pill demonstrating his lack of industry understanding

Pill said:
No TV and No Radio.. U do the math. I bet u can name you favorite artist and the turn on the tv and see the video and hear it on the radio. It’s not rocket science. Radio and TV b4 I had a deal, none after and u ask why Pill ain’t blew all the way up. Artist sign deals, label doesnt do sh*t for them or don’t even know to work the artist. time wasted. Ask Wiz Khalifa what Warner Bros did for him. I’ll wait.. dropped em. Atlantic signed em put em on TV and Radio and he sky rocketed. Mind you, whn I signed I had one of the biggest records in 09′ “Trap Goin Ham” never touched TV never touched radio. Now go back and do your research and see what unsigned artist was neck n neck with Drake’s So Far Gone in 09′ Pill 4180: The Prescription. If I remember tht list correctly. It was Nicki Minaj, Drake, Pill, Wayne, Jeezy. Nw what the hell ws a new cumber like me doin on that list? Because IM DOPE!! That’s why, u ain’t gotta believe it but I know it and won’t ever stop until I get that spot I deserve. Peace. Thanx. Top 10 freshman cover of the New Times, unsigned hype MTV fire starter cover Creative Loafing, German magazine’s, French radio, Jimmy kimmel. Did a movie with Evan Ross and Brittany Snow, Had a documentary air at the UN summit in Geneva, Switzerland, Mark Ronson’s album, toured. in London, countless shows in the states, Short Films, etc. and that with No TV or Radio. Now imagine some push and TV and radio would do.

It saddens me to see when rappers don't understand that they aint got it. This dude really think he was neck & neck w/ Drake lmao.

Wake up call. You are second string in your own clique. Get real and grind harder.

When the last time he even put some shit out? Cause if it was 2011 that shit aint even make a ripple let alone a wave. It's hard to imagine what he'd do w/ the type of label promo he wants, cause even after ALL of that (a miniscule amount of buzz if you ask me) he still aint poppin.

I don't think its that he "doesn't get it." He's right he had a LOT of buzz 09/010 and MMG has done nothing for him. Whether thats them not pushing his shit or him just not meeting Meek Mill/Wale's level of output is another thing. I don't exactly follow Pill that closely.

Pill sucks, but it's true MMG has done nothing to help him. The other guys had a staple song on Self Made that was pushed heavy/became a hit (Ima Boss and That Way).

MMG has so much dope production it shouldn't be hard to establish Pill as some trap rapper. But he should just shut up and put out a mixtape

Shinbois, my man, you've got that knack for getting drums to sound right. Just put 2P4P through the new sub and shit sounded perfect. Really nice work on the knobs. Like, for real. Also, I have a PS3 hori arcade stick. Shoot me a PM on how to hook that up as a MIDI controller for my PC.

I'd say he's had the same opportunities as Meek, yet Meek with less skills spun it into more buzz last year.

Idk, maybe I fell for a bit of the Meek hype this year but he really is pretty charasmatic. I'ma Boss is pretty catchy and I love "House Party"

Might do a video for Mantis using archival footage. Gotta motivate.

Why do people give a fuck about Pill anyways?

Ross is a dumbass for signing Meek Mill and Pill, but those two stooges are even stupider to have that kind of backing and still be wack.

Meek is hype as hell, and Ima Boss is one of the best rap singles I've heard in years. Dude has an old school, charismatic vibe to him; and by old school I mean 80s, not 90s. Not the best rapper or anything but dude is just...dope. His verse on the Self Made title track gets me hype every time

Don't really feel Meek that much, and Imma Boss is Ross' track no matter how you cut it.. But he is a much better minion than many other "head" guys have signed... Looks at Jr mafia, Outlawz, Mack 10/Lynch Mob and so on...

Oh, this is you? Damn, this is so good. I didn't realize it was a GAF-hop thing and wanted to find out more, but googling just got me a bunch of porn. Not that I minded that.

Is any of it on youtube or something? Would like to share it without making people dl it.
Going to work on that after the New year, with some extra shit. Thanks for the love from everyone. Once again, this was a group effort, not just me. Going to put together a trill tape just for Kampsy.

WARNING: This is fun, simple music. No on gets shot and no hip hops are saved so certainly not for those who don't like Drake or Wiz Khalifa.

You can stream the album before downloading.

get off your soapbox and let people decide if they like it or not..

I didn't realize at first that you can stream the album so I wanted to give you guys a heads up before downloading, knowing how much y'all like guys rapping about relationships and girls.

already edited it.

Nothing wrong with that list of ways to "save" hip hop. Outside of a few "wtf" ones, they are dead on and he isn't pushing one kind of hip hop over the other. Some of ya'll are so fucking sensitive.
