The Fetty Wap cover is one of the best in recent memory. Something that looks like it's already a classic.

where's this at?

EDIT: nevermind

I completely agree

Be honest. How much faith do you have in this being close to a good album?

I put the odds at a solid 10%

about 75%

have you listened to his soundcloud?

how funny would it be if it was a bigger, 2015 version of flockaveli. just in how perfectly it nails it's own sound.

That Fetty cover is great.

For me, I'm not sure how good a whole album of Fetty will be though. He has some catchy songs, thanks especially to some insanely good hooks, but I dunno. Outside of the hooks he's just alright imo

damn, even pete trynna warn dom about this fetty

latest entry in the One Gotta Go game. this time it's rap labels

bad boy in the bushes w/ ease.

...fuck ya'll talkin bout
yeah puff got big killed, but we'd not have big without him, at least not in the form we got - he was unsigned hype & puffy molded him into the album/radio friendly artist we got which is why most got to see him shine, much less knew him at all. wanna say PD kinda made this point but you don't get that from many producers (see: wycleff & cannibus, etc)

you'd rather lose that, the dude that did the flava in ya ear remix, ma$e gumbell, kim, black rob, cal thomas, uh...french? than say cash money? nah

Relevant question, what year is it? This depends greatly

also this yeah

It's all hits and I like fetty - especially that Rollin dank and boomin- but he's a hook guy. I dunno man. Looking back we didn't need a Migos album. I think that this is the closest analogue to that.

La flame still gonna save us tho

also can we talk bout how Bobby McBarz is one of 2015's best songs

and how Esh stays fulltime in the #vulgar chat but only shows up here to collect a check

haha yeah shit kinda trailed off there...not trying to argue classics here, but other teams:

cash - birdman, wayne, mannie fresh, juvie, drake, nicki

roc - jigga, beans/free/state property, yeezy

death row - pac, dre, snoop

there's tons of other names there but drake and mannie are the only real losses id feel from cash money, personally. lotta bangers but i can let them go way eaiser than ready to die/black album/chronic & doggystyle etc

*edit wait BB had 112, lox & mary too i wanna say

Actually do you even count Drake as Cash Money? Young Money felt like a whole different label. Wayne was like Tyga Status on Cash Money in their prime dropping shit like bling bling. Only if you consider Young Money Cash Money does this question gets complicated. I mean shit cash money was a lesser no limit back then outside of mannie and juvie.

Can't wait for the EDM/Trap remix.

Yeah Fetty has been lacing his soundcloud all year, and I'd pin it at about 75% too considering that's about the amount of songs that have been fire. If we're doubting Fetty, output isn't the talking point. Dude has done songs in one night and thrown them up and they're jams. And then another the next night.

And that's on top of 3 crazy good singles which can upstage a lot of other albums lacking standouts this year. Plenty of artists get disproportionate hype for giving us less than Fetty has. Shit can be garbage and in a week he'll throw up another Zoo-esque song and it's on again.

migos album was a damn waste. i see what peterboy is getting at tho. but if he's got a few hooks on there that are as quality as the 3 singles he's released then it should be a fun party album.

doubt it will be in rotation though outside of a few tracks.

time to take my meds
Anybody here have an mpc? My first one (mpd26) arrives tomorrow, any tips would be appreciated.
Not sure how many non UK heads have heard this, but this is probably one of the biggest grime freestyles/songs at the moment. Its 3 months old and got 5 mill views (and it's just a freestyle) so not that new but still thought I should post for people who haven't heard:
Stormzy - shut up
https://youtu.be/RqQGUJK7Na4

Stormzy is actually killing it right now.
Havent listened to grime in a while, but that was dope. So whos got a bigger buzz... him or JME?

Listen to toku, not to cut in but taking a break is seriously very important when making music in general, its easy to lose sight of what is what when you end up in a vacuum of the song. you wont even realize it but you will have lost your reference of what the song sounds like in relation to every day life. on that note, i can tell you when you get to the mixing stage always import a reference mix, checking your song against one that you're familiar with is insanely useful. yo let me know how you like the pads I wanna start getting into MIDI production too and am considering the mpk249 and advance 49, i figure they must be similar

1. Make sure there's no distractions around you.
2. Metronome is your best friend.
3. Find a sample or a lead sound that'll help you determine a drum pattern
4. Have fun and know that no beat maker is perfect.

For every dope beat, there's a million shitty beats. Just make music and enjoy yourself :).

Heard this a few weeks ago...flames. I'm loving this grime scene lately and how dudes are going back to the roots, instead of trying to be like American rappers *ahem Skepta and Ghetts*. Still love their work though...
