Master P- Mama’s Bad Boy

As we head into 1992, Master P release his second album entitled “Mama’s Bad Boy. This album is more of an improvement over his first effort “Get Away Clean”. The production is better as P lecture his gangsta raps concerning pulling 211’s, selling dope, life in the hood, and keeping those jimmies wrapped tight. Tracks like” Shoot ‘em Up”,” I’m Going Big Time”, and “Trust Nobody” provides the listener with that old school Bay area gritty sound. P goes in a different approach with his rhymes, he has potential but in reality…he sounds just like every Bay area rapper during the time. There was a rumor that Master P was a New Orleans native, but you couldn’t tell the difference in this album. Will he ever find his voice and own identity…or will he continue to be a West Coast Bad Boy?
Overall, the album is a bit better than his debut album…however there is something missing with this rap artist. If you love “The Predator”, “The South Park Psycho”, and “The Chronic”…make sure you pick this album up at your local The Wall and Sam Goody stores.
Overall Score: 7.5

This Jay Rock overall?

Not the best, but nothing terrible. Can't really say it's begging for a repeat.

Fly on the Wall is the best track but even that's marred by a Busta verse that takes the title too literally and is mostly unnecessary.

Jay Rock's album is unoffensive. Not great, but not bad either. Sort of just coasting the whole time aside from the title track which is painful. I think maybe a better rapper could get more out of this production, but Jay Rock ain't that guy.

and yeah like expected that kendrick lamar album has grown on me. it's the type of production and delivery that on first listen sounded like absolute cornball shit. but when you revisit it and think about it more it becomes more palatable, the free jazz beats really work and the message of the album especially is so strong.

it's definitely something that will be looked at even better a few years from now imo.

still aint fucking with for free though.

Let me go ahead and cut out Rock's and Ab soul's sleep walking verses.....

Q killed it though and Kendrick was Kendrick.

Was just about to say... its Rock's album and he came through with like the most nonchalant verse ever

This is PRIME Q though, holy shit. that raspy voice on those drums, lit.

Jay Rock is just an average rapper, who releases average rap albums. I mean, that's better than being actively terrible like Flab-Soul, but you know...nobody getting excited about this nigga.

If I wake up tomorrow and there's a Future x Drake album out I won't even go to work. I just won't be able to concentrate.

Anyway, this Vice City song is nice, Q is a monster, by far the most entertaining guy there.

Also, this new Thugga is ridiculous, can't comprehend how Barter 6 flopped so hard with him doing so many killer features with big names.
