Kanye got ghost designers too? Fuck he crying bout not being allowed to design his own shit?

I'm assuming it's mostly just a stylist for photoshoots and showcases like NYFW. "Layer this jacket over this tank, wrap this sweater around, off colored boots".

Kanye designs what he wants for the most part but Adidas is still keeping their hand in the cookie jar.

Ian is also Kylie Jenner's stylist fwiw.

are we discussing Bang 3 Pt 2 yet or am I late?

i don't differentiate between young thug tracks really. it's like of like when you're listening to an album by Future, it all kinda runs together in a repetitive low content mishmash but it's hype

...alright, ima get this vape going this weekend and give shit a fair spin before raining on net wrecker's parade again

i mean DS2 turned out to be enjoyable

Listened to this new Thugga the whole day. It's not even close to Barter 6,there are a few misses here and there and the standouts are what you expect from him.

Draw Down though... That's prime time Thugga.

Migos beefing with 300 lol. Sign your livlihood away brehs. I remember reading (dunno if it's true) that in order to get out of a 300 contract before it's up you have to sign away a % of your publishing to them. So even if you leave and join a label you're still writing Lyor and Liles a check.

shit if i ran a label i'd do that too. that's common sense. a "creation tax" if you will.

The funny thing tho: what does 300 create? Migos was hot before they signed to 300 - in fact they were hotter. Young Thug was hot before he was signed. Fetty was hot before he signed. What have they done for him outside of distribution for an upcoming album that might not even sell well?

They've also signed that T-Wayne did, another soundcloud/youtube hit generator who hasn't developed as an artist. So when he gets disgruntled and decides to sign with an actual label, 300 will be in his pockets. Why? Because they helped advertise some youtube videos that already had 5mil+ views before they signed him?

that's nothing new to labels or artists. all labels force their artists to become more commercial once upper management starts signing those checks

do lyrics really matter though?

I mean, I guess it depends entirely on the genre and/or artists. Hip-hop and most of the sub-genres can get by with elementary lyrics because the production overshadows the lack of originality. Awful Records might also be a good example for this. All Father does is rap about drugs, sex and alcohol but his production is bouncy as hell and you can vibe to it. Makonnen isn't really a great rapper in terms of lyrics but they're catchy as hell. shit, if anyone put out as many mixtapes as he did, of course people are going to start rocking with some of your songs.

sure, but their lyrics still lack substance.

This. I was a huge Hip-Hop head/Conscious Rap fan for most of my youth, but I really don't care about "lyricism" anymore. Now that I'm older I realize how corny and shallow most of those lyrics were anway. Energy/presence/flow is more important to me nowadays. Thugga is just pure fun to listen to. Of course I still also enjoy me some Kendrick.
Not trying to defend Migos here, btw. Don't even like much from them. Sloppy Toppy is dope, though: https://soundcloud.com/travisscott-2/08-sloppy-toppy-ft-migos

Ok, I agree with you. I find myself going word for word with some pretty trash songs mostly because of the sound they're putting off and production.

The thing about that "no substance/all sound" lane is that you're so replaceable.

Anybody can get fire beats these days and make club songs, if you're not flooding the streets with music, you're begging for the next cat to come and take your spot.

It may not be completely over for Migos tho. It's not like they've completely faded out of mind. All they need to do is wait for Offset to get out the clink, get back in the studio, crank out a couple radio hits,
maybe get Aubrey to jump on another track
, and they're right back at the top.

The more I listen to Oddisee's Good Fight, the more it feels like I'm sitting at a table at some 40+ party looking like an idiot thinking "why am I even here?"

I liked it when I first heard it but now....what the fuck
