Haha, truthDefinitely not, it's still fucking fire, and extremely potent at nailing the nihilistic teen angst that still permeates at least one facet of my psyche. It's the opposite of being timeless, it's very much a primordial album that's nice to revisit whenever I slip back into that rebellious youthful phase.
Earl is still Earl's best work, followed by Doris. Them vintage Tyler the Creator beats over cannibalism lyrics just screams timeless.
Sandwiches is pretty good too.If EARL gets the teen angst aesthetic right, then Goblin does the complete opposite.
I forgot Yonkers was on the album.
Yonkers being on that tracklist is a gem on top of a pile of shit.
Accurate though.Cherry Bomb and Goblin are just atrocious. Wolf is meandering as hell.
What's Gaf Hop's consensus on Mellowhype though...
It seems like them dudes don't get enough credit and the fact that Left Brain>>>>Tyler on the boards.
Left Brain gets even better on Numbers despite the album sounding kind of pointless, I don't think I need to weigh in on their first two projects, they knock. What's Gaf Hop's consensus on Mellowhype though...

Goblin is one of the worst rap albums of all time.
The Mellowhigh album was pretty dope as well. I love how they closed out the album like an old No Limit shout out outro.
Odd future sucks.
Yeah, you got a felony, but you ain't a predicate
Never the King of New York, you live in Connecticut
whew
The Massacre being wack made that diss even more potent.
Remember the Nas diss, people thought Ether 2 was going to happen. It was just some warning shots.
Maybe Game's gimmick all along is a create a character. Dude forever jacking rappers styles and flows. He bit Tyler the Creator for fuck sakes :/
There's a reason why he is called the game.
Bumpin' Gravediggaz 6 Feet Deep. I forgot how much fun this album is.
The fact that Prince Paul flipped that Bridge is Over beat into something incredible...is something to be in awe.
Nas forever winning...fuck what the haters say.

Well yeah.Odd future sucks.
He's pregnant?
How did those names make a beat this underwhelming? How?
Cherry Bomb is hot fucking garbage, don't kid yourself.

YASSS! Master P struck gold with this one. I dont even need an introduction for this review, so you already know what it is. TRU released probably one of the best albums, if not the best album from the No Limit label entitled Tru 2 Da Game. Remember that whole quantity>>>quality thing I was talking about that Master P used to do and still does with his album releases? Well this is an exception as not only this album is full of bangers, but its double disc. Over two hours of dope music from the Miller boys, Mia X, Mr. Serv On, Big E, C-Loc, and Mo B Dick. The price for this double whammy .11.99. YASS! P put the price tag of a regular cd over outrageous pricing for double albums for its time (who would spend 27.99 for that Bone Thugs double album though).
Back to the double album. One thing I loved about this project is the effort put into it. Tru 2 Da Game felt like an experience rather than a typical Hip Hop album. If you think Im bullshitting you, grab a seat and read this antidote.
Disc 1 of the album feels like the introduction to the dope game. Through the first disc it feels a celebration of gangstaism. Tracks like No Limit Soldiers, I Always Feel Like, and FEDz gives the listener some tracks to head bop to. That ole gangsta shit as you will. Now heres the harsh truth about Tru 2 Da Game though. If you notice a certain track is missing from disc 1 and thats a track called Smoking Green. See in the late 90s, older artists were getting pissed off that producers were sampling their shit without cutting the check. Hence why producers nowadays would be happy with a Maschine expansion pack and a 808, because sampling is like walking on eggshells that eventually cut Master Ps feet with the release of his forthcoming album Ghetto D, but Ill save that story for another time.
Now the second disc, my damn .talk about a dark turn of events. The second disc is like deep end of the dope game. Paranoia, death, regret, and all of the things expected in that type of work is expressed on tracks such as Ghetto Cheeze, Heaven 4 a Gangsta (TRU Remix), 1nce Upon A Time and The Lord is Testin Me. One of my favorite tracks on disc 2 has to be C-Murders solo track Torcher Chamber. Dude went the hell in throughout the double album. Disc 2 of Tru 2 Da Game ends with a powerful song Final Ride which concluded the album on a darker note. Life is what you make it and if this is the path that you want to choose this is the consequences of what you endure in the game.
Bottom line, this album needs to be on every radar of Hip Hop fans and music fans alike. This album epitomized what made 90s Hip Hop great. Dope beats, dope lyrics, and a nice album cover. I mean look at this album cover dudes got on ski mask BUT NO FACES SKULLS BREHS! Go out and get this album to enjoy the smooth sounds of gangstaism at its potency.
first time hearing the Don't Kill My Vibe Remix
how'd Hov manage to get renegaded twice in one song?
Jay-Z was on this song?
