Nas has been on that feature hustle. I hope that means a 4th quarter get-the-fuck-off-Def-Jam release. Been waiting on that Lost Tapes 2.

Mass Appeal's president/ceo/whatever said Lost Tapes 2 is definitely coming in 2016. Still take it with a grain of salt given how many times it has been delayed, but we'll see.

Dunno what's up with the last Def Jam album. I thought we'd get some info this summer. Hard to see him aiming for a late fall or early winter release given that Drake, Adele, and possibly Kanye are coming out in that window.

This Warren G and Krit song got me like

This and the last song are great, some other gems too.

With Premier and Dre working together and God's Son gearing up to get released from Def Jam the dream of the double album is real

thanks for the link nibels

How a guy that is clowned on the Internet for being a "fake ass cop" is so close to the biggest and most respected names in the game, from Jay to Kanye to Diddy to Nas. How his past never damaged any relation he could have with these guys?

Things are always blown out of proportion on the Internet, but Ross case fascinates me.

eh, we've had bigger frauds in hip hop - dude has an ear for beats and works well. plus he's 305 so there's that

Curtis tried to bring Ross down, didn't quite work. Ross kept making hype track and hype videos. Always has, right from Port of Miami.

We was like, "So Ross used to be a cop(Correctional Officer)??", "Yeah but don't mind that cos hit shit BUMPS", "...yeah...it's true...".

Good music overcomes all.

Ross actually seems pretty savvy with respect to the industry. He puts out music consistently, aligns himself with younger talent, and is always offering features.

Yo, this Abstract Radio ep is surreal. I haven't listened to enough clips of top level comedians just shooting the shit, never mind these two. Pharcyde stannage too from Leo and Chris Rock ("top 10 album of all time", dat exceptional taste).

About to finally dig into The Documentary 2 + 2.5... Illa J's self titled was my album for the week. Cannonball, brehs.

I was implying from a commercial success standpoint, hood billionaire sold far worse than mastermind. does his next album have any buzz, is anyone really clamoring for a new Rick Ross album anytime soon? nope.

when you follow up a good album like mastermind with that trash it kills any momentum you have even for a seasoned vet.

He did it to get off the Def jam deal, from a business point of view he'll probably do better with his next album.

nah he's done...once you go on a downward spiral like that in hip hop you don't recover. might as well name his next album Teflon Don 2.

He already released a dope as fuck tape this year, whatever he releases afterwards people will check it out. Everybody knows he has talent, if it sucks life moves on. It's not like people buy anything blindly in this industry.

I bet it will do just as well as hood billionaire and that's all.

I say this probably a bigger fan of Game than anyone else here, Doc 2 is pretty offensive. Have no qualms calling this bad and probably replacing LAX as Game's worst album.

- The most pander-y work he's ever done, comes across generally in the boring/familiar production
- Pseudo-remixes to Biggie songs that are nowhere as good
- Diddy talking over beats in 2015
- Aping J. Cole on songs where J. Cole has more swag then stretching them out to like 8 minutes
- Generally terrible lyrics saying a whole lot of nothing (not expecting conscious raps, he just literally keeps saying the same thing over and over again without any of the energy or interesting verses he's known for), generally struggle bars (cool like LL! some things never made sense like Magic and AIDs!)
- Wasted Kendrick, Tip, Kanye features
- Every downtempo song sounds lifeless or a parody and that's the majority of the album

Basically none of Game's best traits as an MC come across on this. Only parts I liked are the semi-humorous tone of Bitch You Ain't Shit, The Documentary 2 (song is okay, it's no Born in the Trap, mostly the beat), and Just Another Day. I don't know what anyone can see in this project as a whole TBH.

y'all will call me crazy but your album will be creatively bankrupt when you release a sequel album to a classic. happens just about all the time.

Sounds like a Travis Scott album.
Difference is Travi$ Scott usually takes things he's influenced by to a whole other level and improves them. Plus he's really good at managing, meshing and combining sounds, whereas Doc 2 has like zero executive production that occurred here.

So yeah nothing alike.

Rodeo definitely AotY in multiple respects. Variety and consistency alone it's unmatched, next closest thing is probably Summertime '06. Everything else has significantly more stinkers (DS2, Fetty Wap, ALLA, DSP, DWMTM) or doesn't hold up so well upon subsequent listens (Yen Lo, Mr. Wonderful).

I'm curious about your Doc 2.5 impressions.

I remember you saying it you weren't feeling it as match as DBR or Owl Pharoah and yet it's still your AOTY. Let's be honest it was destined to be your AOTY no matter what it sounded like it or what released this year.

What's your AoTY, Spongebob?

TPAB I think; not something that I listen to on a daily basis but as an overall project it impressed me the most. Almost every other major album looks childish next to it in terms of concept and execution. Loved DS2 and Summertime as well

Waiting for Views and maybe some surprise releases from Gibbs or whoever tho

Metro Thuggin coming out December 25th if we all be good boys. Believe.

TPAB is the clear front runner for me. Not just in hip-hop, but overall music in 2015.

DS2 is AOTY when I'm fucked up, though. 🙌

Is enzo just realizing Game has terrible lyrics? Name dropping aside, he's always used vacuous storytelling and shitty punchlines as his primary devices. Moments of insight, commentary or some kind of self reflection are very few and far between. Even Jesus Piece which is supposed to be this gem shining in his awful catalog uses hamfisted religious imagery, with its only saving grace being its production.

TPAB is the runaway album of the year. Nothing comes close.

Not Carrie and Lowell

Not Currents

Not Summetime 06

Definitely not that trash that Beach House put out

Not Chvrches

Not Yen Lo

TPAB is one of my fave albums ever.

Rodeo is top 5 though.
