I remember you saying it you weren't feeling it as match as DBR or Owl Pharoah and yet it's still your AOTY. Let's be honest it was destined to be your AOTY no matter what it sounded like it or what released this year.
Sorry you missed when I put it above DBR, or when it clicked for me, or when I gave reasons for why. Only thing working against Rodeo really is that the lows like Piss On Your Grave are REALLY low. Also it's still not as good as Owl Pharoah.

I'll accept Summertime '06 above Rodeo if people prefer the production or content but Summertime kind of drags at points and is too long. Summertime doesn't have the extreme lows of Rodeo but it's full of more meh/okay songs.

Is enzo just realizing Game has terrible lyrics? Name dropping aside, he's always used vacuous storytelling and shitty punchlines as his primary devices. Moments of insight, commentary or some kind of self reflection are very few and far between. Even Jesus Piece which is supposed to be this gem shining in his awful catalog uses hamfisted religious imagery, with its only saving grace being its production.
Nah, Game is never as forced as this, and he could carry a vibe through a verse on multiple tracks on any other album of his without overdosing on west coast jargon something something 6-4.

lolwut, Jesus Piece isn't close to a shining gem of anything, doesn't come close to DA or Documentary. Plus if anyone listened to that album more than once then they know the second half of that drags too.

Game isn't a punchline or introspective guy either so... more wat? Weird expectations/assessment, he's more a light storytelling/picture painting slash aggressive vibe kind of guy (which, is also not present at ALL on Doc 2). Monsters In My Head, Dreams, Dead People, Start From Scratch, that's dude's style in his purest. Obviously he's not Nas tier at storytelling but he's most definitely not in the punchline or conscious introspection lane.

To Pimp A Butterfly
Dirty Sprite 2
Pilot Talk 3
GO:OD AM
I Don't Like Shit I Don't Go Outside
Rodeo
If You're Reading This It's Too Late
Summertime 06
What A Time to Be Alive
Barter 6

That's more or less my top ten retail wise.

Hey Esch have you checked out Lil Herb's Balling Like Kobe tape ?

top 10 in some order is

DS2
56 Nights
Barter 6
If Youre Reading
SremmLife
Dark Sky Paradise
TRAPSOUL (if that counts)
Rodeo
Fetty Wap
What A Time To Be Alive

Will prob change a lot as the year goes on, especially the second half:

1. Rodeo
2. Summertime '06
3. DS2
4. Fetty Wap
5. Cruel Intentions (does this count? It's really in the middle in terms of R&B and hip-hop, also really short, but IMO it got hip-hop all through it)
6. Dark Sky Paradise
7. ALLA
8. To Pimp A Butterfly
9. Barter 6
10. If You're Reading This Its Too Late

GAF-Hop AotY pretty much a lock for #1 TPAB, #2 DS2. It's all about who's taking Bronze and it can go a few ways I think.

A lot of people in here enjoy that album more than anything else that he's put out since Documentary.

I'll give you the punchline bit, but I didn't really call him introspective; saying it's weird to expect something different by him makes me wonder if you're content to hear more of his one dimensional hypermasculine, aggressive gangster shit that he's been on for 10+ years. It gets tiring. I don't expect him to redefine himself or anything, but his songwriting is just as awful.

Again is probably my favourite Fetty song that wasn't a single beforehand. And that song literally rehashes half of Trap Queen. Still fire.

Eh, I have no problem with this lane inherently, because when he gets it right he gets it right, and it's not like you necessarily have to wait multiple releases for that to happen. Chiraq to LA was one of the best verses all last year.

Game puts out a lot of music, it's inevitable a lot of it gets left in the dust. What makes this different from a California Republic or OKE (which are both better than this too) is that this is a full album release and the gap between releases for him has been a bit longer than usual too. Fam loaded up the clip to shoot blanks.

SMH@the lack of Slum Village mentions.
Thanks for reminding me, this album slipped off my list somehow as the releases began piling up and I've been trying to remember what the album I was forgetting was.

In (mostly) no particular order:

1. TPAB
Summertime '06
Dr. Yen Lo
Yes!
Preacher's Son
Pilot Talk III
The Good Fight
Israeli Salad
I Don't Like Shit, I Don't Go Outside
Mr. Wonderful

Don't care. It was good enough to transcend its year of release and made the list.

You should post that playlist though snugs

It's just a itunes playlist of my favorite tracks and features. Don't know if it can be shared. Itunes is weird.

What else is for sure or at least probable in 2015? I'm looking forward to the new Arca album in November...not sure what else, need to do some research.

Tetsuo & Youth/Pharaoh Height EP
Days With Yen Lo
Summertime '06
Black Dollar
Israeli Salad
Grandeur
Deeply Rooted
I Don't Like Shit, I Don't Go Outside
Sour Soul
DS2

Black Market should be dope but my cynicism believes Dollar will end up being better since it's most likely the leftovers/uncleared songs. B4.Da.$$, Pilot Talk 3, and Words Paint Pictures are great runners up.

Newsom's album is out next week.

Check out that Oneohtrix album if you haven't already. It's actually out in November.

yeah, is goldlink 2016? i imagine nas, yeezy, drizzy etc are prolly next year at this point but they could all put out contenders

redman's show last spring said they were hoping to have blackout! 3, but it looks like that & ghost's next are prolly '16 too

Ka - Days With Dr. Yen Lo
Vince Staples - Summertime '06
Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp A Butterfly
Currensy - Pilot Talk III
The Alchemist - Israeli Salad
Young Thug - Barter 6
BONES - Banshee
The Doppelgangaz - Parts Unknown EP
Future - DS2
Action Bronson - Mr. Wonderful
Mac Miller - GO:OD AM
Oddisee - The Good Fight

This is in some kind of order I guess, even though I need to cut 2 of em off. Still have too much to listen (and relisten) to before the list is concrete.

My list for rap would be as follows:
1) To Pimp a Butterfly
2) Summertime '06
3) Dirty Sprite 2
4) I Don't Like Shit, I Don't Go Outside
5) Pilot Talk 3
6) 56 Nights
7) 32 Zel/Planet Shrooms
8) Today, I Wrote Nothing

Biggest Disappointments:
Mr. Wonderful
Social Experiment? If it counts for a Chance album.

That's about it for now. Those top 3 are pretty much locked unless somebody absolutely crushes the building. Special albums. I don't have 10 yet, but there are still a lot of albums I need to catch up on.

As for other genres I've loved:
Natalie Prass - Self Titled
Shlohmo - Dark Red
Julia Holter - Have You In My Wilderness
Sufjan Stevens - Carrie and Lowell
Father John Misty - I Love You, Honeybear
Tame Impala - Currents
Carly Rae Jepsen - Emotion
Chelsea Wolfe - Abyss
Jessica Pratt - On Your Own Love Again
Braids - Deep In The Iris

Collecting my thoughts on Torres (Sprinter) and Beach House (Depression Cherry) still.

Haven't listened to Bjork, (newer) Beach House, Deerhunter, Sleater Kinney, Protomartyr, Deafhaven, Oneohtrix, or the Neon Indian. Newsom and Arca still coming too.

yeah, is goldlink 2016?
That's actually next month. Less than a month away. November 13th
The Documentary 2 2.5 is better.
So is pilot talk 3.
Lol.
