assorted thoughts on Electric Highway
- cash mixtape. upgrade on Driving 88 in every way. Rockie putting that MMG access to good use.
- production is tight. not a lot of guests, glad there's no meek mill or wale, although i think wale could spit some fly shit on some of these beats.
- clearly Rockie has the ability to put a good project together, but he just needs a swag upgrade to take his shit to the next level. adlibs, more energy, character in his voice.
- for his next project he needs to spend a lot of time looking at himself as an MC. because these regular dude bars ain't gonna cut it if he wants to be a star. there's a few tracks where he hits the mythical "it" but you gotta be able to crank those out at will.
- best MMG project this side of Rich Forever.
- standout tracks: The Warning, Roll Up Right Now, Father Forgive Em
- if i had to throw a number on it...8/10.

Kinda weird that Riff Raff will make the most money out of anyone on this list.

He deserves it more than all of them you pointed out except Action Bronson.

Anyways, I pray this list gets:

Q
Gunplay
Action Bronson
Riff Raff
Ab Soul
Rockie Fresh

Don't give a fuck about the rest. And it would be godly to hear the interview with these people together. Especially Q, Bronson and Riff Raff. Not to mention the cyphers.

edit: knowing this shit we're gonna be seeing wack shit like Kirko Bangz and D Pryde instead tho.

That is the best roster in a long time but being on the XXL freshmen list is kind of embarrassing now. Especially for most of that list who have been around for 3+ years.

Magazines are for teenagers just getting into rap so think of this as XXL confirming these guys are mainstream ready.

Also the curren$y looks dope I wanna hear him on those static selektah beats as well just cause static does drop some Heat when given a chance.

Is Roc considered a freshman? Obviously he ain't a dumbass kid like most these cats but he's still relatively new to the game, yeah?

Ugly Mane would probably be my top if I cared about lists, only seconded by Roc or Nacho.

1) Lil Ugly Mane
2) Roc Marciano
3) Nacho Picasso

And best taste of gaf goes to: me

All he really put out was a two track EP (that I don't even think a lot of people gave a comprehensive listen tbh) and a couple instrumental tapes.
Not too many people here dig him I think, just the ones that do are pretty vocal about it.

Roc is definitely not a freshman considering Marcberg came out in 2010, but nice list.

Here's the EP, this shit is soooo fire! It really does me wrong that not enough of you guys can appreciate this for what it is, even if it's not what you usually listen to

The first track is just rediculously hard, this would make me start moshing if I heard him play it live.
The second is the best story telling in the last like 5 fucking years, no lie. Plus he produces his own shit.

I didn't really like supasortahuman or whatever tbh, I dig ugly mane more when he's on his dark tip (for obvious reasons.)

Death is Silent is too low, The Hybrid went harder than most of that shit, Strong Arm Steady's In Search of Stoney Jackson was basically a west-coast version of Pilot Talk and is super ill. Apollo Brown's Reset was also criminally under appreciated. Shad had a great album that year too, and Freddie Gibb's Str8 Killa No Filla. Oh and this:
