Man, why can't these rappers be considerate for people who wake up in the morning and got shit to do. Maybe we want to wake up, download their tape then start our day while listening to their tape. I would love it if someone dropped a mixtape at like midnight or before 5 am.

1) say "get my shit trending and i'll drop it early" because that's as easy as promo gets. people are stupid enough to do the work for them.
2) push it back another 30-60 mins once the drop time gets just to prolong the hype so it looks like folks are fiending for that shit.

then they're all like "damn my shit crashed datpiff. everybody trying to hear my new hawt fiya."

when you look at it, rappers are pretty damn desperate. probably because they don't even believe their own shit is that good.
the saddest thing is the obvious number fudging on downloads.
ever since it was a big deal that K&OJ got a fuckton of downloads, all these rappers are trying to make it look like the whole world is listening to their shit.

its just so ridiculously transparent. like they're all working from the same playbook.
i appreciate when it feels like an artist actually put some planning & effort into the release of their shit. rappers would do well to take cues from Captain Murphy as well as other genres of music. put a sense of mystery and excitement behind the shit. it's all one big show anyway so blow it out completely.
