pac was losing his mind from syphilis at that point (after writing thus spoke zarathustra) so he basically wanted to go in on whoever

also that writing...but it's a rapgenius contributor so you get what you pay for

Pac was just so angry when he got out of jail, it's crazy the amount of people he beefed with.

I don't know if it was paranoia, hatred, or just wanting to hype shit up. Probably a mix of it all, to be honest.

First three albums, and Soul Assassin's 1 and 2

I'd throw in the fourth too. Although it has a very different sound as they tried to adapt to the sounds of the time and got a little more mainstream sounding, it still had a bunch of really good songs on there. But yeah, first three are in my opinion classics. Black Sunday especially. I'm a big cypress hill Stan though. Cypress will always be my go to chill out music along with atmosphere. I can throw on both's entire catelog into an iTunes playlist and be happy all night.

On another note, dilly the kid aka dat nigga daz's cutie pie is this weeks song of the week for me. I've probably listened to it 20 times this week. Favorite bassline ever.

Also anyone else used to he a big fan of control machete? Tiro de gracia had a better album but control machete has a better overall track record. Spanish rap ftw bitch.

True. When he started acting like a equal member rather than the sidekick his weaknesses started to show. He was great for the occasional verse or ad lib or hook, cause he had a great distinctive voice. But was never all that strong of a rapper. Still, despite my initial disappointment for IV, I ended up really loving that album. Seeing them live in a ghetto as fuck club in Argentina around the time it dropped probably helped. Seeing them rock a packed venue full of Argentina's version of ignorant thugs, all of whom were high as shit and pissed off because cypress was late and the opening band was garbage ( they threw a storm of lit cigarettes at them to try and make them leave the stage) was awesome. From the first note the hostile as fuck crowd was entranced.

Alright I been reading gaf hop too damn long. Let me finally do this.

Musical Taste:
Pick a coast to rep - East
Favorite Artist - Danny Brown
Best feature killer - Danny Brown
Favourite producer - I honestly don't pay close enough attention to production credits so I can't choose. I like El-P, Kanye, and Alchemist though. I also really loved the work Mike Finito did last year on Nehru Jackets so I'll put him up there too.
Favourite album - XXX
What's in your playlist right now? - Yeezus, Old, Awfulalterations, XXX, Exmilitary, Run the Jewels
GAF-Hop Discusses:
Rank Kanye's albums: MBDTF, CD, Yeezus, LR, WTT, CS Haven't listened to Graduation or 808s.
Who is the best Wu-Tang member? GZA
Optional: Raekwon or Ghostface? Ghostface
Is Illmatic > Nas' whole life? Ionno, I've probably listened to Illmatic more than any other Nas album, but I just don't have the love for it like most. It just sounds old to me. NY State of Mind and The World is Yours are both GOAT songs though.
Who won? Nas or Nas? Nas. I've never rated Jay that highly. Love the Blueprint and Black Album though.
Biggie or Pac? Biggie
Lil B? Is he a genius or mentally challenged? Neither. I think his music is trash but he's a likable dude.
How do you feel about Macklemore? I haven't listened to the Heist or any project by him really. I remember liking a track siddx posted here by him before Thrift Shop blew up and kinda liking it. He's a decent enough rapper but his popularity among "I don't like rap but I listen to X" type people makes it harder for me to enjoy his music. I know that ain't really fair to him though.
Best odds on coming out before you die: Dre's Detox, GZA's Liquid Swords 2, or Jay Electronica - whatever? No idea. I will say I'd be most interested in hearing Jay Electronica since I wasn't really paying as close attention to hip hop back when he was making waves and I have liked most of his features in the past couple years.

Other than your kanye rankings and a few other oddities. I must step forward to welcome you to the best thread on neogaf. Never forget, we are better than everybody else.

Anyone who listened to Kno's side project Built to Fade; does that count as a hip hop album? It's got a lot of singy songwriter stuff, but it's also got some raps and hip hop beats. I ask because it might land in my top 10 if it's allowed.

I could see Kanye beating someone up. Wale tho lol

I would have straight up said "your album was trash breh, fuck off"

right? like especially over the phone, who cares, ...'dude i wasnt feelin it, juicy j album is fun, yours is wack, period.'

and that's the thing, much as i dont check for wale's music i wouldnt say juicy j is better lyrically, but juicy made the better album, people dont care if youre a poet if your music is garbage.

Thanks for the warm welcome. This thread really is the main reason I come to Gaf anymore. Especially since I don't have as much time for games as I used to.

His Kanye rankings are spot on doe

Goddamnit peter, you are lucky I think you are a cool as fuck dude and think you are a supremely talented producer. Otherwise I'd shit in a sack and beat you unconscious with it.

Yeah I actually signed up for gaf years ago just for the gaming section. Since then I've probably posted in there maybe five times in total. It's just too deep a clusterfuck nightmare. And to be honest the OT is starting to get similarly idiotic in occasion. I've come to my sense at the last minute and deleted some angry diatribe so many times I've lost count.

There's a video on VladTV I think where Busta talks about it, and how he or someone else was ultimately going to squash it or did squash it very close to his death.

#minimalism

I honestly wonder how true that is. Nas said something similar. Seems pac was doing a lot of beef squashing right before he died.
