Yessir, same thing here. Went back to Magic once I was grown enough to 1. not give a shit what people thought of me playing it. 2. knew how to handle it without it becoming an addiction that ate all my money. 3. had a handle on the rest of my life as well. 4. Stopped treating getting pussy as the be all end all. Pussy is fucking great. But anyone who lets it control them is a goddamn simp.

edit: I just realized how funny that last point sounds with my avatar next to it.

Lol. To be fair, trying to get laid while talking about your sweet control deck is a losing proposition. And teens are some all or nothing motherfuckers.

Didn't think anime or magic existed way back then. Learn something new everyday

This is bout them bus driver remarks, huh? Well, you'll get old one day too. If you don't get stabbed for refusing a ride to a crackhead that is.

Kids these days...

Really can't wait for this battle rap phase of gaf-hop to be over. Jesus christ.

Lol, well I guess we can always try and revive a 2nd battle rap OT. If enzo is willing to make the thread with some basic info, we'll post there instead.

edit: I haven't seen an anime that isn't awful as shit since Ghost in the Shell TV/Monster. Except Psycho Pass, which is just another version of Ghost in the Shell.

edit2: I haven't played Magic since I was 12. i might buy one of the steam games tho

I started playing Magic: The Gathering two years ago. I play Limited, Standard, and EDH. Also enjoy Android: Netrunner, and board games. Anyone interested in going to GenCon, the best 4 days in gaming, should hit me up!

im only on episode 3 so far. it's okay. The general idea behind it is really interesting though. Instead of focusing on the transhumanism/data side of the the future like Ghost in the Shell does, it's all about a future where law enforcement is based around addressing and providing solutions to psychological problems. In a future economy where theoretically we can produce enough energy and food to feed and make everyone content, it actually makes quite a lot of sense that the majority of remaining crime would be resulting from psychological problems.

The problem is the style of the show, its hard to get through though because it feels so copy pasted from ghost in the shell.

well now i dont feel like finishing it

Toku is right about Attack on Titan though

edit: I never cared for Bebop or Champloo either. Great soundtracks, but I can't fuck with the episodic Scooby Doo Huckleberry Finn in space/Japan thing. Nah. So no Space Dandy.

Oh, and I like battle raps. I can't remember my own middle name at times, so these cats memorizing and sometimes freestyling the entire thing is amazing to me.

I mean, there are some bad ones, sure. But overall, it's entertaining.

I dont really care that shit is pre-written. It makes the personals and antics better and the schemes more interesting and complex. I mean, it's cool that a guy like Illmaculate can freestyle responses the way he does, but the overall product is not so much better or more interesting because of it. If battle rap as I see it has a problem; it's about dickriders in the crowd and social media astroturfing fucking up perception of a battle and cheering average run of the mill shit. But I'd overall say that the new pre written era is more fun and interesting to watch than the earlier shit. I watched some of Jin's battles where he got bodied by some of the newer guys before he went to the east and shit is night and day. Like when some of the PRIDE guys went over to UFC and got sonned into oblivion. The game just changed.

Battle rap is fun to watch. I still haven't seen a legitimate complaint from any of yall about it really. I mean if you find it boring, w/e. But I'm happy I got into it, it feels like a rapidly changing scene and it's the perfect thing to do while you're running through some paperwork.

The only really really bad stuff I've seen so far or bothered to watch is KotD putting known guys up against straight scrubs.

edit; WanderingWind and Siddx should watch battles by Sno. You guys will love him. He has gully white trash raps down to a science in the best way.

I agree with Esch regarding the new pre-written era. It's just a natural and logical refinement ofthe art. Generally, If you know you're going to engage in something competitive; you'd hopefully be more "Sun Tzu" and less "night at the Improv".

Is there an anime about battle rapping?

Umm… honestly, with the right people behind this… this could work. Watanabe x RZA.

Haven't been in thread in a few weeks. What's the new battle peeps are going on about?

Fuck battle raps. We gotta talk about....

Uh....

Shit....

There's nothing really going on.

Every one is preparing their torches and pitchforks for when Macklemore walks away with that Grammy.

Yea, I mean without pre writtens guys like B Magic, Chilla, etc wouldn't exist. There's a lot of cool styles/schemes/battles that exist because people are able to prep for an opponent. Off the dome is cool, and I think it's definitely becoming a lost art both in battle shit and in artists that make records, but at the end of the day the actual product isnt that great. I don't know how you can say you don't fuck with pre-written battle shit and have ANY diss tracks on wax you enjoy for example; it's pretty much the same thing except with no performance art aspect.

Enzo got a bunch of us into battle rap a couple weeks ago and a lot of us have been binging/posting about it recently. I dont see why it's so bad either, because like wenis said aint shit else going on in rap really besides a couple underground tapes.

Agreed, I think he made up for it with some of the wordplay, his ridiculous character, and energy though. He just needs to stay off that meth so he stops forgetting shit. Ty is better than him though by a lot, even though i thought he lost that 1-2.

I don't know shit about battle raps outside of what 8 mile taught me, but that Lux vs Calicoe is always a good time. Just watching that dude's soul break into a thousand pieces makes any shitty day better. Like, at least you're getting that shit on stage and getting 4 million views on YouTube.

-Evil to live backwards
-Skeletons in my closet
-Obviously the third verse

Just so good. Anything else you got where somebody just gets destroyed?

vs. X-Factor is a career sonning bodybag to me. It's got that Chavez - Taylor II factor of just watching a man get his shit rocked. Thats three straight rounds of ass whipping.

QP vs. Soul Khan, i would feel pretty bad for QP after the fact, he came in talking the racist shit about Jews and then got belittled something fierce. SK vs Fox and Deacon Frost are also pretty :whew:

Serius Jones
vs. Jin. End of a career.

E Ness vs. Iron Solomon. Pretty bad.

Big T vs. Hollow Da Don. A masterclass in fat jokes.

Conceited vs. Jesse James. One of those poor poor battles where someone really out of their depth buys their way into a battle they really shouldn't have asked for and gets cleaned out.

Thats a couple.

don't waste time or w/e it's called is good.

Finally US artists putting some spot on UK artists... but original still better: (not saying its a genius song or anything, but def gets me hyped for the club etc)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?featur.../watch?v=tHioEC9itTg&feature=share&nomobile=1

also i always find it funny how US artists come here to the UK and when they're hear they always big up so and so UK artists in intereviews saying how yeh they listen to grime n all this shit but when they get back home they never put shine on our local feets. Obvious they just do it to get love from locals but still pisses me off. Still remember Drake showing so much love for Sneakbo and grime when in UK. When back in the US Drake never mentions anything.

also pretty sure any semi decent person into UK grim knows most of the words to Giggs - Talkin da hardest:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6oezFRXcjI
Any other UK people here and actually appreciate grime? Maybe need to start a grime thread.... Our MCs can actually compete with a lot of the US ones.

Not sure why anime has to be dark

Hop on that Space Dandy train brehs, first half of episode one is fanservicey but the rest is gold.

The last half of space dandy is a crazy trip. Those colors!!!

Also, I don't mind battle rap, but it just does nothing for me. I really enjoy the musical side of hip hop, so hostile spoken word poetry isn't what I look towards.

y'all haters, Battle rap posts are so infrequent already (Battles drop maybe once or twice a week at most and they might not even be worth watching or posting at that), it's only noticeable because there isn't shit going on in hip-hop and this thread has been dead as shit otherwise for the past weeks too after Ross got delayed.

EDIT: More bodybags:

DNA vs. E-Ness (Made worse because he was on Making Da Band 2 and Diddy was in the building)
Soul Khan vs. J. Fox
Charlie Clips vs Aye Verb
T-Rex vs Aye Verb (Diddy puts up $10k mid-battle to give to the winner of the 2nd round too and T-Rex has the best round of his career)

There's shit going on, just nothing mainstream, like forreal people should be giving their impressions of YRN 2 at this very moment, but don't nobody give a shit unless you're in TDE or are named Macklemore/Hopsin.

I didnt really care for YRN 2 or CB4. I really liked YRN but the spark wasnt there for me on the new shit. Peter was right about Coke Boys. Just doubled down on the more boring and generic aspects of dudes music.

Anyway I dont get why it has to be either or. We're entering the Q1 rap phase of nothing hot for a few months besides sparse bandcamp tapes, but hey theres some great battles coming up.

MC Serch freestyles on Arsenio Hall's new show.

A$AP Ferg - DTM Awards 14 (Trophies Remix). TBH This beat does nothing for me no matter whos on it.

Young Buck - The Devil Is A Lie (Remix). Dope.

I mean more as topics to talk about, there's always a constant stream of music from somewhere. Jeezy brought himself in and nobody talked about that either really. I don't even know if Detox or kamspy chimed in about how he's going to kill the game from a cell, etc.

Yeah it's not hard to scroll past, just like you would scroll past posts of people talking about other related shit you don't care about.

I just don't think people would check the OT if we revive it or make a new one. There's enough overlap in interests (I mean, it's hip-hop) that it makes sense to discuss here.

It might be best to make a separate plug, so the GAF-Hop one is always open for people who just want to play whatever and they don't have to go to try their luck in music-is-fun.

This is something. I wouldn't rule it out as stealing though, when you hear the stories of how beats get passed around and stuff, who knows if this dude even made the beat even if it's looking bad for ROss.
