Congrats, it's all down hill from here.
dont listen to this man. it only gets better.
What do you guys think about this situation with Bobby Shmurda complaining about not getting paid?
I understand his frustration specifically with shows but for things like performances on BET or whatever, do artists usually get paid for those? I kind of see it as free publicity or getting your name out.
No Xzibit verse

New post, new news.
Chance the Rapper - No Better Blues
Crap. CORNY. Dull too, that spoken word garbage.
I'm not the biggest fan of Bobby Schmurda but this post really really bothered me. Show money is basically how rappers eat. That is their main source of income. When you are flying or traveling state to state to do these shows you aren't getting paid for then what's the point? How do you feed your family etc etc? He is talking about not getting paid from multiple shows. He already was getting robbed from his previous manager taking majority show money now he is complaining about not getting show money at all. It's not publicity at this point, it's people taking advantage of a young up and coming rapper who isn't business orientated and it's annoying as fuck at this pointYeah. I was bummed about that.
It's publicity. Kid needs to realize that's just as valuable as getting paid sometimes.

I mean, I'm not saying I disagree with what you're saying. But the idea of leveraging publicity into something bigger isn't unheard of. I'm sure they paid him a bit, if he did that for free than he's stupid, but could still probably make a case for a lawsuit unless he signed something.
Getting screwed over by your manager is a different thing, but probably feeds into why he feels this way.
Overall the music industry is dirty, which is why independents love tend to love their status fiercely.
Either way, bitching about it after the fact is terrible.

so Illmatic is considered hipster music now?
at this rate, albums like Blueprint and Chronic 2001 are gonna be considered hipster music by 2017 brehs.

The rest is right. As for hipsters etc., it's a 'tastemaker' type album that says "forreal. hey, i like hip hop. I really do. I have great taste. Illmatic is incredible! *lists obvious seminal albums*", so like with Wu-Tang and MF Doom, hipsters tend to flock to it. All you need to do is peep the crowd at a Nas or Wu-Tang show to see what's up; lots of plaid and not a lot of melanin. This doesn't detract from any of these artists or their magnum opuses at all, but it is what it is.
