you know, shoulda known bets were off after "Wu-Tang Forever"

but here i am with DMX and Pimp C shit on a drizzy album

the C shit...i know we use dead MC's on verses sometimes but its almost always kinda distasteful, and in this instance - over some simp tracks - i mean, what is going on here

at this point, next album needs to have cube, ghost & jada on a track called "snapchat me ur feelings" because why not

6 tracks in...this isn't particularly bad, but usually a few tracks grab me by now, that's not happened so far

controlla is the most interesting track so far, and it's i-had-a-finger-in-rihanna faux carribean drake, so that's weird to say...guess it's that production mostly but im diggin this

Not feeling this

I LOVE THIS ALBUM

views disappointing as fuck

Drake just dropped his weakest album.

this.....is more boring than a j cole album

why drake why

Where's Irish I wanna tell him Kanye won

TLOP is better than Views

what a time to be alive

catching up has been more fun than the album so far

i dunno if im gonna learn much on here, we'll see

smh, some hard truths for gaf hoppers this year.

Drake peaked
TLOP sucked
Future was aped
and Beyonce put out a better album than the lot of them

damn
i got bey queued up after this, might be a nice palette cleanser

MBFDTF is his magnum opus...it all went down hill from there.

This lasting impression that TLoP sucked is ludicrous. It is a vastly more enjoyable listen than MBDTF, which people prop up like its Kanye's greatest work. Yeezus and TLoP both better.

jesus
like, MBDTF is crazy overrated, but putting TLOP over it? ive seen it all

Done my first listen of views and the only word that comes to mind over and over is disjointed. I don't know if it's a bad album, but it's certainly underwhelming.

Singing on some songs he might be suited better rapping on, rapping on songs that might be better singing on. Production is mostly straight and interesting but it's clearly messy or overproduced in places, and when it is good it's usually not complemented well by the verses. Some decent vocal moments (dvsn) and a few notable punchlines too, but overall I feel like Drake's flow has never been more choppy. The Future song might just be the worst on there, physically taken aback by how grating he is on that song.

Really no super big standouts and almost every track-to-track transition is jarring; there's nothing wrong with having lots of variety in songs on an album but it just isn't working here. This should've had at least something on par with Know Yourself, but to meet the hype he needed an album full of those. And he has an album full of way too many unremarkable tracks. Stuff like Still Here sounds like something dude would throw up on soundcloud on a blue moon,.

The tracks from U With Me? through Controlla (and maybe One Dance) are decent. Best songs on there are probably U With Me?, Controlla, Fire & Desire. And I don't know if I'll be listening to any of those a few months from now.

But we'll see.

future's crazy output naturally took its toll, he's here on this grammy track like it's a WATTBA b-side at best

man child's play is like having too clear a window of the next man's life, drizzy can we talk about your millions again or somethin bruh

Haha nice. I wonder how Drake reacts to the reception this album is getting. It's good I guess. He got too comfortable this will knock his ego down a bit.
What reception are you talking about? Music nerds on gaming forums? GAFs reaction to this album doesn't mean anything, because y'all were expecting too much anyways and got caught up in the hype. It's a good album. Go check the reception on iTunes so far, it's being received very well.

Okay. Don't know what to think of Views yet. Can't stand his corny singing voice and monotonous pre-2014 flow anymore nowadays. There are some cool moments, though, when he flows in ways he hasn't before, like on U With Me at ~3:25.

Definitely appreciate the playful production and what 40's doing with the drums and their unique mix. Makes for a very coherent sound throughout.

Will have to listen tomorrow again with fresh ears, but this likely won't be in rotation for long. At least it's not another NWTS or IYRTITL, which would've been stale, as much as I enjoyed the latter especially.

man if you begged for R&B/pop Drake back then Views is what you deserve. this how we get some stupid long boring shit like Redemption. it's a great album (bout a 7.5-8/10) but it's just him going through a lot of familiar ground/sounds.

sound like something he could've made at any point in his career. coming off If You're Reading makes it sound like even more of a retread. listening to that OVO radio interview he admits that he was surprised by how well the tape was received. so i almost think he was afraid to follow it up with another rap heavy album and build on that.especially the flow on the few straight rap tracks. i'm sick of that "i'm really spitting" flow he uses as a crutch. i thought we were mostly past that. the flow was effortless on IYR.

Haha nice. I wonder how Drake reacts to the reception this album is getting. It's good I guess. He got too comfortable this will knock his ego down a bit.

if a little failure knocks down your ego then you need to reevaluate. this shit won't bother him at all. he's got some joints on here that'll be successful.

Feel No Way, One Dance, Too Good & Controlla for the pop crowd
Childs Play & Grammy for the urban & strip club crowds
it just aint really a lot of shit that really goes in but taking it for what it is, it's another good entry into his discog.

Most exciting part of this Drake album is him using DMX lyrics.

I haven't had a chance to listen to the album yet, but if they aren't: "CATS DON'T KNOW WHO THEY BE/FUCKING WITH A NIGGA LIKE ME/D TO THE M TO THE X LAST I HEARD YA'LL NIGGAS WERE HAVING SEX WITH THE SAME SEX"

Then I will be severely disappointed.

nah, i meant when i heard Take Care i wanted more like that, and that's not what this is. even TML had more closer to those vibes than this. this made me wish he'dve saved something off IYR or WATTBA and tossed it on here, and that's a shame cause those were supposed to be appetizers.

agreed on failures & ego though

For Enzo and the other Rammy fans. Not sure if you guys know but a week or so ago Ramriddlz released the remastered version of Venis on Itunes/Spotify(it had been taken down for a few weeks) etc and it has an exclusive bonus track called 'Manana' and it's fucking great.

'Man' by Skepra is the only thing I've liked that has come out of the UK rap scene.

Beat is stupid.

ya dunkno

heres some another UK rap (not UK grime) track i feel the US guys like. The guy is 17 and catching some traction over here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcBv9KYopG4
and Nines:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GIcQBFD6sb8
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqtsHQQsIMc

WSTRN - they went to Number 1 in the UK with this song:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-hy92f00EE
I'm sick of it now, but enjoyed it at the beginning and and think has good crossover appeal.

Their Best friend remix: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ReFWvOpU0ss

If you're on some deep lyricist shit, Cadet is killing it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=blsMgamQuNk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2tJipvjt4w4

And then if you're on some party vibes, J Hus is doing big bits as well. Very much afrobeats infused, which is huge in the UK:
J Hus - Dem boy paigan (Was one the biggest club bangers last year over here
J Hus - Friendly
J Hus Afrobeats

Let's look at the track record:
Bazooka Tooth was underwhelming
Fast Cars was a decent little EP
None Shall Pass was alright but could've been a bit better
then quite a hiatus until:
Skelethon.....I may have to revist this one to be honest with you

So yeah....best album since Labor Days for me. Notice I said "best since" and not "better than"

And I'm not counting those folk rap albums for a reason. I'm extra good on that lol
Hey that album had heart

tbh he kind of goes in over that "real friends" instrumental

dude's main thing now seems to be selling shitty roseart drawings via instagram. need another good kool & kass album

He wont be too bothered. He said he doesnt want people to "get" his albums right away and hell attribute all the criticism to that.

Lowkey, Summer Sixteen not making the final cut of the album is a W for War Pain.
