GAF: how old are you and until when will you continue playing?

So GAF, that's it. How old are they and when do they plan to continue playing?

In my case, I am 34 and gaming is my favorite hobby. I plan to do it as long as I can. I imagine being an old man playing with the PC.

I can see myself gaming when I'm older, I think it's actually a pretty good activity in order to avoid becoming mentally seline.
 
I'm 34 as well. Just like any other hobby, I don't see myself being too old to go to the cinema or go fishing. Also, 34 is old? C'mon man.
 
Probably when my body gives out and i can no longer hold a controller. Nearly 50 and my reactions are still shit hot thanks to bullet hell shmups & rhythm games keeping me in tip top shape however there are games i can no longer play as well as i did like DDR used to be a demon on the dance floor but now old age has stopped that. If i try i pay the price days after lol.

57 here and hopefully many more years of gaming ahead of me

Edit - Started gaming on massive hospital main frame computers in the 1970s when my dad would go in and repair and reprogram them

41. Since the days of the NES in 1989.

Gaming will always be there in some capacity for me, even though I'm slowing down a bit.
 
Almost 44 and been playing for 40 years. While I don't do marathon sessions anymore I still play something everyday for at least an hour or two. Will almost certainly be playing until I die.
 
Take care of your hands, gents. I'm in my 30s and I'm already having hand issues from a lifetime of playing piano (and about 15,000 hours of competitive Melee…)

No plans to ever stop, as long as there's new games I like I'll always play.

And if there aren't then there's my retro collection.

You'll have to pry my controller from the hands of my corpse. (assuming of course that we haven't moved onto control schemes that obviate the need for hands by that point)
 
46, I played from 8-10 until 18 with SNES, then took a break until I bought a DS, then took a break until I bought the Switch. I'm farsighted now and had cataracts surgery a few years ago, spend most of my day working in front of a computer so I no longer care that much about playing on a big screen, my articulations don't hurt but I know my reflexes are now worse than when I was young, fortunately I've always liked turn-based games so it doesn't really affect me but I might have been crushed if I liked games like Guitar Hero or some competitive game. Will probably stop playing again eventually and come back after mid fifties to check how the scene is doing.

You have a few years on me, but I hope to as well. But I am golfing more and more now, so that has taken away from some of my gaming time.
 
38. Gaming is up there with the gym from a hobby perspective. Won't stop and will have wild game nights in a future retirement home.

Having said that - next year, I'm going to get myself a PS5 Pro, which will be my last video game console. I plan to make use of that for a good 6 years, and then I'll stick to stuff on my laptop (all those free Epic store giveaways!)
 
41 and been gaming for 33 years or something (Atari 2600 and PC 286).

Can't see myself quiting unless I'm physically or mentally unable to play videogames.

47- been playing video games since the early 80's. Don't see myself ever really stopping. I'm sure what games I play may change (as they have thus far).
 
37 - been playing from probably 3 years old and one of my earliest memories is playing Strider and Midwinter on the Amiga with my dad.

I can't see myself stopping gaming ever really. I don't play as much as I used to, but that's simply down to being an adult. I still play multiplayer with my dad and godfather most weeks and they're very close to 60.

Lots of adults here, which is cool but doesn't make much sense with the "which platform is best-fighting" that always goes on here.. 🧐
I remember that stuff being somewhat a theme in the early school days(Sega or Nintendo) ages ago. It was kinda silly fun back then, it's beyond weird now, especially with how the industry has changed.

Anyways, good to see the 40+ people keeping the passion for gaming alive. It's actually kinda important since the younger folks seem to enjoy gaming in a very different way now.
Us old folks keeping the good ol' single player games alive!
