Either of these scenarios is comedy gold.

Waaaaait, I just realized something: a doppelganger VI will do his action BEFORE anyone else, so you would get:

-dopple VI moves everybody up
-other switch roles do their dirty work
- real VI will move everybody down

The chaos that would create would be....... Tremendous.

Everybody playing should just look at the role pdfs. It explains everything.

Hmm, does Retro know this? The way he wrote out the role does not indicate this to be the case.

Yeah, his role explanation clearly says ALL roles will be moved, no exceptions.

Edit: we already have some differences with other roles, for example the witch. She doesn't get to see the card and then choose a victim, instead she choices victim and card in one go.

This is a totally random question, but are there any online D&D games? I have some friends that want to play a game in few weeks, and while I've got experience with things like NWN, I'm curious if it exists.

Fun Fact: if all night actions are chosen completely random and I did not miscalculate something (which I'm far from sure about), there is a 26.7% chance that you keep your role.

Yup and I found plenty of people quoting this off of one of the cards:

The Village Idiot moves everyone else’s card one space to the left, right, or not at all. Really.

With that being said though, they are at the mercy of the way Retro interpreted the rule.

Edit: To be fair though, there are little nuances that happen in a real game as opposed to what we can do online. For example from that very picture, the witch gets to look at a center card before actually deciding who they give it to. God knows I never would have given the tanner to myself if I could have seen the card first.

Sure, it just devalues VI, since barring OTHER swaps, they should know what they have, unlike everyone else. It's just ONUW though, so no big deal. Seriously though, everyone should reference these damn PDFs.

Would anyone be interested in a small, low power Mafia game once the 3 main games are winding down? 11 or 13 players max.

It'll be a generically themed (cyberpunk) semi-open setup. That means there will be no source material and all potential roles are revealed from the very start, but only a select few will be used in the actual game. There may be a "global mechanic" like the AC, Dangan and Archer games, but it will have absolutely no mechanical impact on the game itself. Its current incarnation:

Code:
BBS
	Universal ability
At night, send anonymous message to moderator.
All messages published in the day.

Input is welcome.

I'm up for it. I'd love to learn a whole bunch of different styles.

Most definitely interested. That being said, my real answer should really depend on the timing of this vs. the timing of whatever Kark is doing.

Edit: Actually, Ouro doesn't seem to care about timing so I don't either :P

The situation right now is that in the thread, it clearly states all roles will be moved, and people might have based their night action choice on that rule. So changing it now would be unfair. It is something to keep in mind for future games though.

I will wait for ONUWs and Kark's thing to end, I'm going to work on this for a bit in between other obligations.

I would do it if I'm not still alive in Archer at that point.

I prefer smaller and semi-open setups. This sounds great to me.

A more generic theme sounds good to me, I'd like to join (assuming I'm dead in Danganropia by the time it starts)

If I can learn to program a web-crawler to count votes within the next few weeks I can probably host both at the same time...

...or die trying.

Put me on the maybe list, I don't know yet how I will feel about it in a month or so.
Unless it has a lot of corgi's, then it is defiantly a yes!

Also, that universal power will be used by PR to announce their results and the mafia will use it to add bullshit in order to pollute the potential information. Could be interesting.

Yes, very much so.

EDIT: Put me on "the list".

Guess you won't be able to play then.

I would love this. I prefer setups where you know what kinds of roles are in play. Messages should probably be limited to a specific number of words/characters and possibly have some other restrictions, just so nobody gets tempted to write a thesis, but it's a marvellous idea.

Roles should probably be tailored with the mechanic in mind to ensure balance.

I know I'm already in ONUW 4 and slated for Kark's game, but I'd love to reserve a spot in yours too because it sounds sexy and I'm a naughty, naughty attention-seeking hooligan who needs some discipline

I'll gladly give up my spot for newcomers/higher-priority waiting list players

I'm hurt. ;_;

Since potential roles are known, simply don't include any that provide absolute results, i.e. Role cop but not faction cop.

Probably a clause like "cannot name players".

Code:
BBS
	Universal ability
At night, send one 140 character anonymous message to moderator
All messages published in the following day
	Player names are not allowed
	Images are not allowed
	ASCII art is okay
	Cryptography is discouraged

Maybe you could make it so that if a PR sends a message, he can't use his power that night? That would already balance it a bit.

The purpose is to give people something to talk about in the day, because sometimes we have activity problems where everyone's just sort of moping around.

Mope mope mope.

Discouraged but still allowed. I hope Blarg sends puzzles that mean nothing.

I would love to see him fit his puzzles into 140 characters.

Encryption is not allowed in that semi-open mini with the anonymous message ability, right? Cause... That seems highly break-able. ;)

Like, maybe my anonymous message contains a hash of one of my previous messages... I can easily verify my identity.

Well I can't exactly stop players from embedding messages if they're subtle enough, I don't have a codebreaker on hand. That's why it's "discouraged".

I might just randomize it if I feel it's breakable, but I loathe RNG.

I see something.

I just checked up on my investment and someone else is actually using Blargonaut as their username on twitter. :/ I swear I thought I reserved it.

Damnit, now I have to think of something dumb like OGBlargonaut or something

I see everything. Which is why i dont mind codes. Anyone can find them.

Seriously though, maybe have 4-5 secret non-players that can also submit messages to troll everyone?

B1argonaut. Or make it some weird crazy puzzle and we have to solve it to find out your ACTUAL twitter.
