I was at a convention today, for some cosplay photography. Place was tiny and full of people everywhere, was nearly impossible to use both my flashes, but made it work alright in the end.

Criticism welcome and highly appreciated.

I think in general you could have done with more light on their faces, they have lots of unflattering shadows.

Yeah, I agree, thank you for this!

It was a tiny space in a corridor and people kept pushing my umbrellas to the sides, but I really got too lazy at some point to move them more in front of the models. No excuses. Will just do it next time lol

I set my camera up in a field for an hour doing a really fun star trail picture only to have forgotten to turn off the SteadyShot setting on my A6000 (a setting I forgot existed) which ruined the result. Pretty bummed.

I liked the colors on this one.

Edit: Some other stuff from the past few days (click for slightly larger versions)

I'm out at Pebble Beach this week, had to grab a photo of the iconic 7th hole with some waves crashing. May try to get there earlier in the day and hope for better light.

Pebble Beach - No. 7 by brerwolfe, on Flickr

And then this is a cell phone pic of the Lone Cypress of Pebble Beach. If you're a fan of golf you'll recognize this as the logo for Pebble Beach.

I took a bunch of photos of the cypress with my DSLR but I didn't bring my laptop to the hotel so I can't edit until tomorrow!

1st time here using a LG G4, dont lynch me.
I took this picture some weeks ago, the floor was frozen and it was very very slippy. One thing lead to another and i fell. While i was on the ground i realized how great everything was looking frozen, so i took a picture :D

I'm glad I discovered this thread, some great photos in here.

I was fortunate enough to be in Peru late last year, here are a few of my favourite shots from the trip...

Hate you so much haha... soooo good.

Will you still be in the Bay Area early March? Would love to learn about drones, aerial photography, and do some golfing.
No, will be doing the Florida swing in March. I don't think we have anything else in California until the Frys.com in October (up in Napa).

Still learning, so not good enough to post in here at all, but I'm loving all the snow pics I saw recently.

Everything around here is covered in snow, and I'm having a hell of a time trying to expose for it. Should I be overexposing a bit when there's a ton of snow in my shots?

Yes generally. The camera will try to underexpose snow usually so you need to compensate for it.

For shame. Will you get a chance to play Pebble Beach?

I will not. I don't usually travel with my golf gear unless it's a one-of-a-kind trip. And although I've never played Pebble, this is my 4th time here, I'm sure I'll be back.

Main reason for not bringing golf bag was because I've been on the road since January 26th, and I won't be home until February 22nd. Had zero interest in lugging that thing around.

Gonna take it to the U.S. Open and PGA Championship this year and try to get in the lottery for those courses (media get a chance to play the Monday following the championship).

Try to meter off of something darker like an uncovered tree or a car or something. Midtones.

From my model shoot today I think these prove that I stopped center focusing only :p:
More Here:

On some of the pictures there'S a lamp growing sideways from her head.

I think DSC_9419 is your best. If cropped at the bottom and top to get her eyes to around one third of the height (so cutting of 10-20 % at teh top and bottom of the image) would improve it a bit more.

9458 is nice too, but I would suggest showing more of her looking to the right. Although the most interesting aspect of that particular picture to me was how that wall on the right ends at the window.

I think 9361 has potential. But I would probably prefer to not have her centered (if you are cutting off her right elbow anyway) and more in the direction she looks. But overexposed as it might be, I do like the skyscaper in the background.

Yes, I know about the lamp, I would've preferred yanking it out the damn wall but I couldn't, it's what it was, sorry. Room full of shit on the wall so either way something was going to be somewhere. I fixed up 9419, but the rest I wasn't touching.
Here's more from a different model, which I don't think was as good as the one I posted...that and I worked in reverse and edited the second model first cause I think my later stuff during shoots is better than my earlier stuff.

I liked the budoir look of this thing so more or less just left it alone after I B&W'd it.

She looks so unhappy.
She's Ukranian lol. I did tell her to animate her face more, but she just couldn't. I want to shoot with her again though, she was fun, nice too.

Yeah, I do have a black and white photo of the same subject, but I chose this one to be in color because I do want the color of the bronze to come through.

Just weird, I don't see what's particularly great about this particular photo over the others but it's got my most views period (though others do come close) in a day.

It's not an anomaly, it's because of the title. Naked. That's the reason.

@jaded, 9183 has an arm growing out of her head. I understand if the location wasn't ideal, but this is something you can fix by pivoting the model slightly so you can see where the arm is coming from. Right now it looks like that's all remaining of her conjoined twin.

Flickr is a very hard place to figure out with what they like and why they like it.

I honestly could've sworn I've seen shots like that before. So I guess my aim is to make sure there's space between the head and everything else. OK I get it now, I should've made sure her shoulder or entire arm was visible.
