All ales are top fermenting. So all stouts, porters, bitters, pale ales, IPAs, barley wines.

There's actually a unit for measured bitterness, IBU. Pale Ales, IPAs and their double/triple versions can start at about the same IBU number as a Jever (~37 IBU) and go up all the way to beyond 100 IBU, at which point you can't even detect the differences in bitterness on your tongue.

The thing is that all that bitterness is usually balanced by a lot more aroma, a stronger malt body with some more sweetness etc. A 70 IBU IPA can taste less harsh than a 37 IBU Jever. Kölsch and Northern German Pilseners are usually brewed rather thin/crisp, so the hop impact is higher.

A lot of these styles are slowly becoming more widely available in Germany, and it's fun to dive in there.

P.S.: I invite any regulars to a brewery tour/tasting when you're in Hamburg!

I better start posting then.
Watch "Werner Beinhart" instead. It greatly shows the local dialect of Northern Germany.
Will see if I can find it at a rental service.

Found my old Alles Klappt! and Tangram Kursbuch to keep me company in the meantime. Really want to make an effort this time - I've previously spent 6 month in Austria but all I did was hang around other foreigners.

8 wegen der Story ist jetzt schon ein bisschen grenzwertig, aber immerhin keine Standardantwort.

Oh, mach das. Sehr lieb. <3 Oder unfassbar grausam, je nach Nervenköstum.

Du kaufst deinem Azubi ein Spiel? Sucht ihr noch Auszubildende? :D :D

IMHO, if you studied CS you should not end up just hacking away at code. Other countries are much cheaper for that. That being said there is a huge market for qualified CS grads and I'm sure many of them will do loads of programing in one form or another.
I'm an electronical engineer and I program something most days of the week.
Job market is good at the moment, in 3 years it will probably still be good.
Qualified people will always find work.
Das ist sehr interessant.

Thought job market was tough these days in Germany just like in Europe.

But anyway, I was just asking because I don't see the point in studying in Germany if you're not planning to work there after graduation (or in Europe).
