It's too early to say what I will do.JordanN How are you gonna empower the locals though? Leaflets through people's doors? A podcast?
The rot is too deep in the UK for you to make a significant change. All the problems you're running away from exist here in a worse form. As far as I know your country doesn't mass produce women who look like the women in the images I posted a few pages back. That alone should tell you something about the state of modern British culture. It's too early to say what I will do.
First 15 years will be learning about the UK and comparing just how bad the country is next to mine.
And then I'll have the rest of my life to volunteer and actually do something. I'm just mortified that no one wants to talk about these issues or why do we accept that "change" as normal. That's the exact reason why my country fell so fast in record time. No one said anything and they all just voted to make their own nation worse.
The difference is when push comes to shove, I think Conservatives are more likely to take back their country as opposed to letting the situation deteriorate completely. As I said not even conservative thinkers with a bigger reach and more resources than you can turn things around. All this leftist bs has flourished under the rule of a “conservative” UK government. Statues toppled, police officers kneeling, puberty blockers inside children, migrants continuing to sneak into the UK via the English Channel and never being sent back – all under a “conservative” UK government.
If the masses really cared about conservatism in the UK, this stuff wouldn't be happening.
You're dreaming, man. That's not gonna happen. Genuine conservatism is dead in the UK. I mean just look at our so-called conservative Prime Minister. He's not even married, he's had several affairs, and we can't even be sure about the number of children he has fathered. When the leader of the Conservative party doesn't even live by conservative principles, why would anyone else bother? The difference is when push comes to shove, I think Conservatives are more likely to take back their country as opposed to letting the situation deteriorate completely.
For example, I can't imagine all the people who left South Africa/Zimbabwe would be happy returning to the UK and seeing the exact same events play out all over again. Or same with the expected 3 million Hong Kongers who don't want to live under Communist Chinese rule.
It would be a great thing for Britain to absorb as much of their Conservative followers from all their former colonies who know what life is like when the government is run by fools and tyrants. It was always a number game and all this grooming gang stuff will come to an end when British culture singles them out and forces them to leave.
I'm not concerned by LGBT. And given their raw numbers (like 2% of the entire UK population is gay) they're honestly the last thing I would get riled up about or that they have an influence on the rest of British society. You're dreaming, man. The kind of “conservatives” that exist in large numbers here are people who also think Pride parades are wonderful. Real conservatives barely exist.
I think you should look at a British TV guide and the UK version of The Daily Mail's side bar of shame, or some British lifestyle magazines to get a good idea of the prevailing culture here. They will all give you an insight into what the British masses find acceptable these days.
Conservatism has no real traction here anymore.
It's hard man, warrior, top shagger and best mate of Henry VIII - the 1st Duke of Suffolk.
Otherwise known as...
Charles Brandon
Fair dos! I was going to say King Henry VIII but I knew that was wrong from the very start!
What accomplishments did he do?
Naw, I don't have to go that far back.Instead of moving to the UK it sounds like what you're looking for is to time travel to the 50s and move to the UK.
OP, how do you plan to educate the people of Britain and warn them about the fate you plan to leave behind?
This is modern Britain:
I'm not concerned by LGBT. And given their raw numbers (like 2% of the entire UK population is gay) they're honestly the last thing I would get riled up about or that they have an influence on the rest of British society.
In regards to Boris Johnson, I treat him the same as Trump. You don't have to like him on a personal level. But you still vote for him because the alternative wants Conservatives to be completely dead.
Regardless, it's really hard to change my mind at this point since what's the solution? Staying in Canada just isn't going to make me happy in the long term. At least in the UK, a Conservative Party actually won and wasn't completely dwarfed by the opposition.
In 15 years from now, Canadian Conservatism wont even exist. It will have been completely eradicated with no traces of it remaining, whatsoever. In which case, I'll have been happy to finally move to the UK and pursue a new life.
I actually think it's kinda based there is a party that represents Scotland.Bad news - Scotland is run by the SNP. They're genuinely awful. You might want to go with England instead for that reason.
I actually think it's kinda based there is a party that represents Scotland.
Like, that's how I believe politics should be ran. Regardless of Left & Right, it proves there should be a platform for the Scottish people.
I just wish we could apply this concept to the rest of the British Isles so we don't end up with a borderless dystopia who all believe the same thing and can't form their own opinions.
I agree that the double standard against a right-wing national party is very disappointing. They're nutjobs. They have the media completely on their side. If you spend more than 3 seconds digging into them you'll see they're not at all cool. The nationalist party Plaid Cymru in Wales has managed to do reasonably well but they're very left-wing and honestly utterly hopeless (I've mentioned before - never go to hospital in Wales). England is the only country that doesn't have anything. The point however is that it's the UK. One country. It's ridiculous, and the dishonesty of the press is astounding. Nationalists are only allowed when they present as left-wing. Any right-wing nationalist is a nazi. Appalling hypocrisy.

I’m not an SNP supporter but what makes you say they have the media completely on their side? In general, the perception in Scotland is kinda the opposite, which is why The National (who are on their side to a ridiculous extent) now exists.
Perception is not reality. Take a look at the BBC who absolutely fawn over them, and indeed most of the broadcast media. Their failings in education are mostly ignored by the press. The tendency to say that anything good is theirs and anything bad is the fault of those evil English Tories is glossed over. If you can't see it, I can't help you.
There were protests outside BBC buildings over what was perceived to be biased coverage against the independence campaign and a BBC reporter came forward and said there was a bias in their reporting of it. You might feel like they fawn over them but there are others who feel differently. A matter of perception on both sides I guess.
Personally I do think they get off easy in a lot of people’s perception because, as you say, any negatives are often placed at the feet of the Tory boogeymen. I do worry about the extent to which they have become the default choice for so many Scottish people and hope at least one other party manages to sort it’s shit out to provide some sort of opposition soon.
There are staff at the BBC who think the BBC isn't sufficiently supportive of the trans community and management likely agree. That doesn't make it true. Pressure groups will continue to push even after comprehensive victory. You don't win by taking your foot off the accelerator.
Perhaps so. I suppose in general people tend to think that the media is biased against their views. Whichever side someone is on there tends to be a bit of a victim mentality in that regard. You get people on the right and the left convinced the BBC and other outlets are against them.
The BBC's biases are fairly well known. They're remainer, they're super-woke, you're welcome to read https://www.neogaf.com/threads/evolution-of-the-woke-bbc.1472867/ where I delve into the decline of journalistic standards in some depth before others take that further. The Guardian, you know what you're getting. You know the Mail and the Telegraph are super-Tory, with the Mail being super-anti-immigration. In general the biases are fairly obvious, and I think most people would agree about them - it gets more tricky with organisations professing impartiality while being anything but.
Oh yeh, I don’t think too many people are disputing where the Guardian, Telegraph Mail or Express‘ allegiances lie. But you do get people on both sides saying the BBC are against them. I think the BBC is such a large and unwieldy entity that there’s lots of agendas at play at once there. I think it’s hard to say they have a purely left leaning agenda when a number of the more influential roles are filled by people on the right and how certain things are handled. But there’s also an undeniable left lean to a bunch of their output too. To me it seems too disorganised to be operating with a single focus.
Thanks for the offer to join in with that thread but I’ll pass. I’ve read it before but I try and avoid the politics section these days since it’s such a mess.
I’ve also diverted the discussion away from JordanN’s initial intent too. JordanN, I’d say make sure you visit and spend a decent amount of time here before making any drastic decisions about your future.
3D Artist. Specifically in visualizing interior and exterior architecture. Or city planning.Overall, Scotland's economy is weaker than England's - England has to send Scotland money to keep it afloat. Living costs are a little lower though this is not necessarily the case in bigger cities like Glasgow and Edinburgh, with house prices not necessarily London levels but still fairly ridiculous for anywhere nice. JordanN what industry do you expect to work in upon reaching the UK? That would give some guidance on what to do next (apologies if you've answered already - I've not kept brilliant track of this thread tbh).

I've already found some Architecture Firms in the UK but I'm working on building more experience first before moving (although I have a portfolio and keep it up to date).
