You must have checked the tutorial eariler than you posted as I totally removed AnyTitle Deleter from the site this afternoon. It's no longer mentioned nor needed.mrklaw said:I'm usually a good boy, honest. This Wii stuff just does my head in.
I ended up just ripping the disc to the HDD so I don't need it. will do that disc blocking thing anyway though.
if it helps, I did the 4.2 upgrade off disc, and it only stopped the USB loader from working. Homebrew channel was still ok, so your guide worked fine just updating IOS249. Didn't use the deleter as it wasn't available from the linked site.
I don't think so.snk2 said:Is there a way to use cheats (Ocarina) on VC games?
It seems their link is wrong. You should only use the ones at http://bannerbomb.qoid.us/abds/ for 4.2 installs. If none of the three work, then there is something very strange about your Wii or your method. Make absolutely sure that you are unzipping to the correct directory. Also, try having the SD card in the Wii before clicking the icon (I know the tutorial says not to, but it might work better for that card).Creamium said:I need help on getting the homebrew channel installed. I have a 4.2E Wii and I follow the instructions on the gaf wiki word for word on how to get the channel working. I should get a 'load boot.elf' prompt when I insert the sd card, but it doesn't pop up. The guide says: 'If not, download other BannerBomb versions from here and try again until one works.'. But I've already downloaded 4 or 5 versions and none of them do anything. I've tried formatting the sd card, but to no avail. Is my only option to keep downloading versions from this link til i get a hit? http://bannerbomb.qoid.us/aads/archive/
Because that could take me a while :/

It's for that reason that I added "Thus, you should now have a file at sd:/private/wii/title/aktn/content.bin" to the instructions, but I guess not everyone reads itCreamium said:-__-'
I just dragged the content.bin file to the root of the card, when I should've extracted the zip first.
Now I get an 'unable to mount file system, could not flush log to SD' error after installing the channel and my wii freezes. I googled this and apparently I need a different sd card...
After rebooting my Wii, the hbc is installed though.

Don't worry about the mounting file system issue. If HBC is installed then you are all good.
Yes, it probably just means you can't put a Bootmii backuo on it. Everything else will probably work.Creamium said:sorry
so is it okay to continue using this sd card for other install operations if I got this error?
Well, the shop method will probably be similar to the current ones. Just wait for the Wii Shop Updaters to get updated (or try them now as they may not have changed).nincompoop said:Crap, is there any way to update the shop channel yet? I Was looking forward to buying Rotozoa :/
It also includes IOS58 which is for games with webcam support (some sort of fitness game had this).FSLink said:Any word if Stack Smash still works? And if the update adds anything aside from IOS80 (are there even any benefits for this?)
Not like I was going to update yet of course, but just wondering.
HBC will most likely be back very soon, the only issue is that you may need a US Wii and Super Smash Bros. Brawl or Lego Indiana Jones from your Wii's region in order to get it back on there.Dead Man Typing said:Whoops, I was on auto pilot this morning and pressed update.
HBC is gone. I hardly used it so it doesn't affect me in a big way (I only have 1 import Wii game) but I imagine some people on here would be crushed if they lost all their homebrew stuff.
Clipper said:A heads up for the new page:
DO NOT UPDATE YOUR WII IF YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR HOMEBREW
Summary:
4.3 will delete the HBC and disable Bannerbomb, making it quite hard (but not impossible) to get it back, even once a new HBC is released. Just wait it out and a new version will be ready soon making it safe to update. There are NO new features apart from homebrew deletion, so there is no point to update anyway.
In the meantime, fell free to update your Wii Shop to the latest version using the method in the GWHT.
Nothing at all.Bizzyb said:Anyone know what the update does?? Besides get rid of homebrew (again)
Yes, that is the reason. That is assuming your Wii is PAL too, otherwise it's just your region free method blocking the update.Wizpig said:I was wondering another thing; when I put Super Mario Galaxy 2 (EUR) in the Wii for the first time, it didn't ask for an update.
I already have 4.2, is that the reason?
Well, the laser is pretty much the only component in the drive that can break (well, the spinning mechanism can too, I guess), so there's probably no point in distinguishing between the two...fifasnipe2224 said:how can i tell if its my wii drive or optical laser thats broken?
They'll probably start showing up soon, but it depends on how much stock Nintendo have already programmed.dk_ said:How long till the "store Wiis" have 4.3? Will there eventually be a new version of bannerbomb?
I suggest you just wait it out to see if things get worse. I've had minor flickering pixels in several games for years now and they haven't got any worse than when I first noticed them.Choppasmith said:Well this couldn't have come at a worse time.
Playing Okami tonight and I just started getting the "graphical glitches of death" indicating my launch Wii is finally wearing out.
I don't know if it would be better to try and wipe my Wii clean of homebrew and send it to Nintendo to fix (anyone have any luck with that, I thought I heard something about them charging more or refusing to fix them) or just getting a new Wii. It would be nice to finally have an excuse to buy a black Wii.

Well, as soon as the new HBC is released (and I would be shocked if it's not out within the week), it will be possible to restore all homebrew onto the Wii, so there is no issue there.Choppasmith said:I might just do that as it seemed like it was just one area of the game. I know there was one time when I booted up my Wii to play MM9 and I got weird inverted colors and slowdown. I reset it and it was fine. Hopefully by the time it really does crap out, this 4.3 issue will be taken care of.
But out of curiosity, if and when my Wii does crap out fully, what's the better option? Have people with broken Wii's sent into Nintendo have good luck getting their homebrew back on it?
Yeah, that's been known from the start. IOS222 and 223 survive if they are the v5 versions and IOS202 and 236 survive as well. All will let you install other IOSes.theultimo said:Well, all I think HBC needs is a title fix. FYI - IOS 224 and 250 are not stubbed with the 4.3 update - I kinda updated by accident when fixing my internet connection and had HBC removed, but not my USB Loader forwarder channel. I'm waiting for HBC to update, but in the interim, I can write a guide to un-screw yourself if need be if you have a forwarder channel set up beforehand and update to 4.3 by accident if anyone is in that situation.
Did you visit the Wii Message Board to read the update message Nintendo sent you?piratepwnsninja said:So I'm slightly confused...the guide I followed earlier this year to install HBC and USB Loader wasn't one here. Yesterday morning I noticed my Wii glowing blue, so I turned it on and wasn't prompted to do any updating. Went into my USB Loader channel and things seemed fine. Any idea why I wasn't prompted to update and why things still seem to work?

Remember, with 4.3 , the bug cannot be restored onto IOS 15. They fixed a signature check where you cannot downgrade it.Nabs said:I wouldn't try that yet. Wait a few days and see what else they come up with.
We already have two good methods for updating the Wii Shop: http://gwht.wikidot.com/wii-shopWizpig said:I don't care for 4.3, I'll wait a few days to see what the easiest method to upgrade the Wii Shop (because I think you need 4.3, right?) is.
Or, sure, to upgrade to 4.3... but I'm not in a rush to do that.
