Miley's stunt was shocking because of how provocative it was, not because it was unexpected. People knew she was going to do something wild, and she did it in front of a live audience. We all knew it was coming, I just didn't think it would be that messy.

Bey, however, just released a fucking visual album with no promo, no hints, nothing that even suggested she was going to release anything. People expected the year to be over with BJ, not with this.

The Vyrus's stunt was cute in hindsight, but I'm not sure how impressive it was as a display of her talent or artistry. Bey's album drop is much more impressive in that regard.
