Micro Famicom from Amazon 3rd party

Yay or nay?

For that price I'd expect something legit, but what does Gaf say?

Sooooo tempted ... But.... Maybe just skip the Micro for now? I love my SP, and Ive been thinking about a Micro but I'm starting to wonder if in the long run I'm better off just getting everything on my 3DS.

Well the images are 100% legit, but they weren't supplied by that particular seller. I bought the Happy Mario 20th version from play-asia in 2007 for about $80, which was nothing as I was living in Ireland and earning euros at the time.

To me, $116 seems a decent enough price, but then I really liked the micro, particularly that version. If you're an ambassador, I'd probably make do with the GBA games they've released thus far and pray they release more.

I got mine from amazon a few months ago, the happy mario version. If im not mistaken, it was from video games diva so i'm pretty sure at least the one they're offering is legit. You should be fine with any of the featured merchants.

Did anyone here end up picking up the mother 3 edition? I wasn't blown away by its looks, but I'm kicking myself now for not buying one seeing them on ebay for ~$500.

I'm thinking of purchasing one of these now. I've seen quite a few new ones on Amazon and such. Just a question, are these consoles region free?

Damn thats good.

For $90 (£57) I could have buy one and have it shipped to England!

Amazon.com is a reasonable place to get these from right? Or does anyone else have any recommendations.

Edit: I miscalculated shipping. It takes it to $100 (£63). That's a damn sight cheaper than the only one for £100 that's new and ships from the UK that I can find.

That said, I'm quite particular to my black/red/black color scheme on my micro :D

But I do have other color schemes too, what say you GAF?

The silver one is as it is, all Silver.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000AX224Y/?tag=neogaf0e-20 - those are the 'black' ones on Amazon.

One of the sellers on that link (gamespeed) sells the Japanese black version, which is all black (body and faceplate). That one looks the best. Its hard to tell which version the others are, the US versions have inverted colors (black faceplate on silver body, silver faceplate on black body) while the European and Japanese versions offer solid colors.

Theres loads of those famicom micro's in Dubai. You can get them for about $55USD.

I have one and another emerald green one which looks fantastic.

Mine is black with a black faceplate but unfortunately the faceplate is scratched (I bought it used and it came that way). Is there anywhere I can buy a black faceplate for cheap?

I have a japanese black Micro, and the shoulder buttons are messed up. Is my only option really to pay 50 bucks for Ninty to fix it?

Also, new faceplates? :( The only one I have is starting to scratch.

Wouldn't it be damn great if this thing would be sold everywhere again and if it'd work like an iPod, but supported by Nintendo? The GameBoy, NES, GBC and GBA games on a wonderful little system that you could take with you everywhere without having to carry carts with you.

I think I'm just gonna look on eBay. Speaking of... Mother 3 Gameboy Micro. I'd buy it if I had the money.

I had a chance to buy one of these in Japan a few years ago for 4500yen, which was ~$40 at the time.
It was CIB and everything but by the time I made up my mind to buy it and went back to the store, it was already gone. :(

I'm still kicking myself over it to this day.

Amazon US is great for Micros! Well, I thought so but I guess I was happy to just find one which was new in box!

Nice thread, the bump inspired me to dig mine out a play a bit. That is the one I have, and I would like to get a newish Famicom Micro at some point too, which still seems affordable. What I really need to focus on are replacement faceplates, mine has a small scratch over the screen area that drives me crazy, and I cannot find my spares.

I'm playing through some GBA stuff lately, and I'm kind of thinking about grabbing a Micro. I've never owned one. I have a stupid collection of Nintendo handheld stuff, including four GBA SP's, two of which are 101's (the later backlit version). So I don't NEED one. I've kind of always felt that the backlit SP is the ultimate perfection in GBA, but I've never owned a Micro. Reading through this thread does give me some serious Micro envy.

So I went to charge my Micro for the first time yesterday and It won't charge!

</3

I have to assume it's the power supply. So I've bought a USB to Micro charger on eBay for like £4. I'll keep you posted on how it is, if it works I'll keep the Micro because to be fair I can use my iPhone plug and that cable, it's less chargers to keep with me on holiday etc. If it doesn't work, it's going back and I'll get a new Micro off Amazon (US).

Does anyone know if any of the other chargers say from DS work with the Micro? It will save me digging them out if anyone knows.

Edit: as a bit of a experiment I removed the battery and plugged the unit in. Still no power going to it so I doubt it's a battery problem because it did work for a few hours until it went to red. So it's either the charger or the input IMO.

The GBA SP2's (the backlit ones) are truly the best in my opinion as well, but the GB Micro's are just so insanely tiny and portable that it'd be worth getting one if you want something a bit less bulky.

The screen/brightness is nowhere near as good as the SP2 though.

If anybody has any faceplates for sale, I'll be more than willing to buy them off of you. I bought mine second hand and the faceplate is terribly scratched up.

I love my Micros but the SP+ is just a freaking workhorse. Maybe one of the best single gaming purchases I've ever made. Bought a graphite at launch and it's still a beast, and even still holds a great charge. Actually just beat Superstar Saga for the first time on it last night.

So yes, my Famicom Micro is wonderful, but when it comes time to play, GBASP+ always gets the call.

Anyone have any ideas on what could be wrong with my Micro? Still waiting for this cable. But in theory it should work with no battery plugged in right? Cause if so the problem is either the cable or the input.

Edit: My neighbour over the road has a charger, I tested my Micro on his charger and it works and charges fine. The charger is at fault.

GAF convinced me. Ordered a used Silver Micro from Amazon. Seems to be in pretty good condition. Oh my god, that screen is so fuggin' sexy, it's ridiculous.

My USB charging cable came today and it works a treat! Kinda a good thing to have one really, it's just less chargers to take on holiday etc with me. Now I can just take a iPod/iPhone plug and this lead.

:D:D

Now to look at getting a few more games for it.

Heh, good luck. I've been looking for ages and I'm convinced that there isn't a single damn faceplate left in the world, save a couple limited ones on auction for more than the cost of a brand new micro.

I'm afraid to take my micro anywhere these days because the faceplate might get scuffed. :<
