Game Boy Micro <3 Thread

For me, the best thing the GBA SP has going for it is that I can play my Gameboy games on it with actual lighting as opposed to trying to find lighting. Modern handhelds have spoiled me.

But the Game Boy Micro has a much crisper screen for GBA games. Plus Wario Ware Twisted is far more playable on that than an SP!

EZ Flash IV is the best, but it's almost impossible to find. DS and GBA flash carts were two of the best gaming investments I've ever made. It's amazing how convenient they are.

I was able to find it! Now to rip my collection (and find my copy of astroboy).

Where would be a good place to start looking to get one of these in the UK? Ebay has some but would any brick and mortar stores have any still, not new of course.

You'd be lucky. Whilst I was a store manager at Blockbuster, I looked on the system almost every week to see if any were around in the company (entire country, 600 stores). A few months ago, one turned up in Sheffield. I got it sent down to my store. Mint condition, boxed. Price was £3.95, and I got a 20% staff discount off that too.

It was literally the hardest thing to find, ever. Just use Ebay - you'll be paying far more than I did, though.

Wow what the hell.

As much as I love my Micro, I don't use it much anymore so I've decided to let someone else love it.

I've got a Silver body Micro with Black faceplate which is in perfect condition cause I stowed it the second I took it out of the box and put on a Camo one.

So I'm looking to sell that Silver Micro + Black Faceplate + 2 Camo Faceplates, Box, Cables, paperwork all in perfect condition if anyone's interested.

In the US

Well whoever buys this is obviously getting a Micro in great condition.

Since the Gameboy Colour thread has been bumped, I thought people should be reminded of the greatness that is the Gameboy Micro. I just got this yesterday and am currently playing through LttP.

I took a better picture as I thought it deserved better.

Edit: Dead pixels can be black right? If so I think this micro has about four.

Im still on the market for an all black gbm. The prices on ebay are insane though. What an awesome machine. Just found my copy of ww twisted as well and im still halfway through mother3.

Where did you get that faceplate? Or is it a special edition?

Is there any way to get a replacement face plate that isn't horrible? My current one has been through hell and back and really needs a replacement. Just the basic silver or black one would be nice. :/

I'm pretty sure I was one of the only people to buy a GBM on launch.

Welp I read through all 47 pages of this thread and then ordered me one of the new black ones off of Amazon....which is apparently a Japanese unit. Got it for $86 which is a lot less than I thought they would go for.

Really pleased with it so far but I just don't know how i'm going to get a hold of GBA games. Amazon is generally good right as long as the seller has good ratings?

Ordered Castlevania Circle of the Moon so we'll see if it's a legit copy lol.

I'm kinda amazed that there is a severe shortage of GBMicro's in the US. We have them in abundance here in the middle east & asia. Picked this up for $30 2 years ago. Went to check on picking up another for a birthday gift & it seems that the price has risen to $40 on all the color types!? A lot of pink one's here though.

Sorry for the overblown flash. Was in a hurry & threw it in the white box but forgot it was on.

Are the screens on the micro better than the screens on the 101 model GBA?

Higher PPI - crisper, clearer image.

...but the screen is smaller by far. Going from my Micro to my SP 101 is the equivalent of going from a DSi to a DSi XL. The main issue with the Micro's screen is that on a pure black image, there's a small about of noise (has been on all three micro's I've owned). Same as say, the Vita screen on black. The SP 101 doesn't have this.

I'm inclined to say the SP screen is better - but that might just be my preference.

EDIT:

I'm kinda planning to sell my green Micro. Yeah. It's mint condition, boxed. Got one dead pixel, been there since I got it - but other than that, it's mint. If anyone wanted, I'd supply an EZ Flash IV too for a separate price (obviously I'd delete all my games off first, but I'd put the client software onto the SD card). Bear in mind I live in the UK - sorry, US guys.

If anyone has a price they'd be willing to offer, PM me. Images:

You can pick up the Famicom version for $40? I already have one, but I have a scratch on the screen and finding just a replacement screen is near impossible.

I bought a used silver n black micro off of eBay and then I realized after bidding that it was not functioning and that's why the bids for it were so low. According to the seller it doesn't hold a charge so I have also purchased a micro battery and screwdriver.

I'd love to sell these to you guys but sending out "electronics" from the middle east is a headache due to the stringent duty charges for all "electronic" items.

Last month I tried getting LEGO Technic Technic set with Power Functions & I paid an additional $60 over the $120 of the set plus shipping charges. Customs deemed it as "electronic" goods.

I want an EZ Flash IV but no idea where to find one.
Are they all on auctions these days?

Never mind, found one and ordered it.

I've got a seriously craving for a GB Micro and some GBA Pokemon at the moment. I'm wreckless. I've mentioned it in the buy/sell/trade thread already but I'm looking for a non famicon (preferably black, but I'm open to most colors) Micro for cheap.

Hey I just got here, and this is crazy. So there's my offer...PM me maybe.

is it even possible to get one of those Famicom Micro's for a reasonable price? They are so pretty.

Also that guy with the green one, how much do you want for it?

Saw the bump, figured I'd add my Micros to the thread.

Even though they don't get a lot of play, we usually keep them in these silicone skins.

I've had em for about four years now, don't remember how much they each cost though. Maybe about $100 a piece? As much as I love aesthetically love the Micro though, I found that don't actually like playing games on them. Most of my GBA collection consists of RPGs and it's kind of a pain to read text on those tiny, tiny screens.

GB Micro related I guess... where's the best place to pick up an EZ Flash for my Micro these days? GBA carts used to seem so small but now they seem so bulky to carry around!

The Famicom edition it's just so beautiful. Got mine on eBay a lot of year ago.

I'm not sure what to do. I have a micro that doesn't hold a charge. Got a battery. Still no charge. I turn it on. It lights up for a nanosecond when plugged up and that's it.

Posted from the other fb micro thread.

I picked one up from the realhotstuff site posted above. It looks kinda sketchy, but they fulfilled my order. Could be unrelated, but not long after I ordered the cart (about a month or so after), my credit card was compromised.

Also remember that it uses a Mini SD card (not micro). I had to order a Micro -> Mini adapter, but I still haven't gotten around to using it because I can't find a small enough Micro to format FAT.

Thanks for that. Was it Paypal or they only take straight credit card?

Doh, I should have remembered about the Mini SD thing. I had one adapter and I gave it to my friend when I ordered him an EZ Flash off another site (which doesn't have them anymore).

You need a smaller sized SD card? I think I have some older 1 or 2GB ones, and some even smaller, but I have no idea where they are, hehehe...
