Game Boy Micro <3 Thread

Good luck to those trying to hunt down some GBA flash carts. I was about to try and pick up an EZ Flash IV but then realized I already had one for my black Micro (had forgotten about it).

I remember when the Micros first came up and I thought they were a horrible idea. But now, I think it is my favorite looking system. Unfortunately with the versatility of the DS lite (access to flash cards with my DS and GBA library), it barely gets used.

I still love them though:

I would do anything to have the Green Gameboy Micro, but I'm unable to find it :(

I still have mine from about two years ago. Haven't used it much since I already had a DS when I bought it, so it is in pretty good condition. I tried to change the faceplate once and it seems there is a little bit of dust under the plate now. The box must be somewhere around here as well. If you are interested, just send me a message.

Still waiting on my EZ4s... Apparently they left Germany on the 18th, stuff doesn't usually take more than a couple of working days to get here. Hope they aren't lost :(

Got my faceplates from Nintendo though. Definitely gonna order a few more!

Mine, which was shipped on the 22nd has arrived at my post office today. Granted, I live right next to Germany, but still pretty fast.

On the other hand, my Japanese blue Gsme Boy Micro from ArcadeShock has not yet left the US according to the tracking info

I've been looking for my charger for ages and this thread spurred me into looking properly. I got this a few months after the pack came out. I couldn't find one with all the trimmings for a reasonable price, so I only have the unit and the case.

So, my micro has a dead pixel. Any way to fix?

Flash Linker has replacement screens, not sure about their quality however.

Some people also say you can fix them by rubbing or applying pressure to the pixel while cycling colours rapidly, but that's never worked for me on either stuck or dead ones.

Otherwise you could hit up Nintendo or an agent for repairs, I'm sure they'd do a good job but at a high price.

Wait, I thought you could? Although you do need some extra equipment I guess.

I'm sure when I was doing all my reading I saw that you could use a DS with a DLDI cart to run cart_save.gba and back them up to PC, then you could write them to your miniSD and pop it in your EZ Flash IV.
If you are into DS hombrew at all you probably already have this stuff!

Or you could find an EZ Flash II like I did, muahahahaha!

I think actually I misunderstood. You should be able to run cart_save.gba on the EZ Flash IV itself without any extra equipment...

From Sosuke's

I think that then means you can make backups of your own carts as well as their saves with this program (maybe you swap them in and out while the program runs in memory?) just using the EZ Flash IV.

I might still be misunderstanding actually but I'll do some more research :P

You can also use Rudolph's GBA Backup Tool if you want to backup your saves (runs on NDS flashcarts).
Holy shit, thanks you guys. I don't have my DS on me now, but when I go home I'll try and find my old Lite and the edge card I had for it, and see what I can do.

Just got this bad boy for $10 at goodwill. Didn't come with a charger though. :(
I can never find shit at goodwill -_-

There's a pink micro for £7 at my local market. If I brought it, I could just swap the casing, right? My green one is mint apart from that fucking pixel

For those who are still looking for an EZ-Flash IV, flashlinker-shop.com just got some in.

This is something I've been looking for. Though before I buy, is there any I can get that would fit flush in the Micro?

Been out of the flashcart scene since I got a job and grew up and stuff or whatever.

I'd imagine so, as long as you have the right screwdriver. But it'll void your warranty. =P

Warranty? The console came out seven years ago.

So after seeing this thread, I looked on Ebay, and right now there is European (Region Free) silver Micro for 120$ with shipping. Bought one. My two SP are kinda weird, one shutting down without warning and the other one having the red and green light alternate. "Oh low battery! Nope. Oh low battery! Nope."

Hope its good ! :)

I noticed a section in the description that I'm not sure was there before, reading:
Some more informations about the EZ-IV case quality, box art etc. for our foreign customers: :-)

- The box art has changed in 2009. It will be delivered in a single card box. No card reader and no box known from the EZ-II/III Sets. EZ-IV BOX (Link)

- The cases were not glued in the past, but the cases may open during use. So the EZ Team has glued them, if they have glued them well. If so, the cases should come closed. If not, we glue them ourself. So if you should have problems, please use a little bit of super glue. This is NO fault and no defective item. Sorry for this, but we do not produce them and normally you will get a good one.

Sorry, Sarcasm. Darn you internet!
We still need a diacritical or punctuation mark for that. =)

Don't worry, the =P certainly made it obvious to me!

Is there any way to play the original Earthbound or the fan translation Mother 3 on a GB Micro?

Ugh good luck finding those for a decent price.

Have been trying to find a used GBA Micro or SP with no success :/ They're all in rather bad conditions around here... need to find one online, but then, there's no way to know if it'll be in good conditions.

Also, holy crap, can't find Ninja Five-O at a decent price freaking anywhere.

Damniit, my EZ4s apparently left Germany on the 18th of December and haven't been scanned since then. Another parcel I got posted around the same time only took 2 days once it left its country to arrive here in NZ. I'm worried and Flash Linker Shop seem apathetic :(

I got my brand new JP Famicom Micro which I got off of eBay today! That thing is STUNNING! Gonna pick up my EZ Flash IV from the post office today. Still no sign of my JP Blue Micro from ArcadeShock though :/ No activity on the tracking page since December 18th...

In both cases, I think you just have to be patient and wait a bit longer for the package to arrive. It's hard, I know.

It's not that hard. It's just a worry when it's taking 4x longer than all my other international mail around this time AND it's an item that is quickly going out of stock everywhere (meaning if I wait it out I might not be able to order another one when the time comes). I don't doubt it got stuck somewhere in the system. Anyway it just made it through to NZ so all good now :)

Found a silver micro which only ships to UK - Are there any UK GAFfers who would mind bouncing it to Denmark? I will of course cover the shipping costs :)

edit: Nevermind, found one cheap enough in DK. Quite excited to see it, loved the GBA era, have a ez-flash II from back then and I always loved the look of the micro but could never justify buying :) Just looked through the previous page, happy to see that the ez-f II still has such high compatibility

Picked up my EZ Flash IV from the post office today. Ordered it along with a Micro SD card + SD adapter and of course the SD adapter is broken. The lock/unlock mehcanism is somehow absent from the adapter so the micro SD card is locked and I can't change it. I'll have to wait until I get another one. Too bad :/ Was really looking forward to setting it up today.

If you have a phone with a microsd slot you could use that? I've done that on several occasions where I couldn't find my adapters :)

Found my writer and old GBA pretty quickly (that thing sits so well in my hands!) but it took me a good hour before I found my EZ-cart II hidden away in a wii sports cover along with some old ds games and such. For a second I thought I had lost the cart and was wondering how I would get a new one :)

The Ez cart is charging right now and I'm probably not getting the micro before monday so I figured I might begin messing with software. I assume the EZ software won't work on a win7 64-bit machine? Anybody with experience with Ez-flash and todays computers who could chime in?

EZ client works fine with me. Win 7 64bit

All the client does is create a save file for the games onto the mini SD, as the cart cannot create them itself.

My God the idea of a Micro and an EZ Flash seems too heavenly to handle. A device smaller than a flip phone holding dozens of my favorite games? Awesome.

Though I'm so happy with my SP AGS-101 right now! Still playing the Oracles games, then I'll jump back to Game and Watch Gallery 4 and try to get some high scores.

Oh yeah, I didn't even think about where to get one. Are they actually discontinued? Are there still some in stock somewhere?

I soo want one of these. Any tips on where I can get one? Shipping to Sweden is a must.
I don't think any store carries them anymore. Some of us have been lucky to get one when ArcadeShock got some Japanese ones in stock (brand new), but that was a rare case, it seems. I just got myself a brand new Japanese Famicom Micro from eBay. Shipped to Denmark, by the way, but definitely not cheap. The used ones are much cheaper.

No I was talking about the EZ Flash IV, lol. I can see just a few pages ago they were talking about it being discontinued. I know about that ArcadeShock thing.
