Game Boy Micro <3 Thread

Mine was sent on Monday, it arrived on Thursday. Shame the build quality of the EZ-Flash IV is so shoddy! :D

Here's a pic to show what I mean:

It's not my pic but I've had the same happen after removing it from my GBA SP and NDS Lite like 3 times or so. There's also some space between the top halves of the cart, which kinda annoys me since I like keeping all my flashcarts in great condition. Nothing you can do about it though, the build quality of the EZ4 is just that bad.

Just remembered about this!

Mine are the same. They aren't even glued like Flash Linker Shop said they would be, just a single screw in the back which I had to undo to even get the Mini SD card out, lol. Terrible quality compared to the earlier flashcarts I have! They barely fit together properly even when I try to click the shell together, it's like the plastic just isn't made to match up. Not worth the $50 to be honest...

I wonder if I can make a new shell for them? Out of an old GBA cart or something?

Hey guys, look what I (finally) got from ArcadeShock today! (sorry about the crappy quality, only have my phone)

Soo nice and beautiful. Really happy with it.

I need to buy shells for this damn thing

Good luck in finding them. Nintendo used to carry them on their store up until a couple of years ago. I've searched eBay and Amazon and I found nothing for the stock ones. The US ones came wih 2 extra faceplates. Is it not the same with the imported ones?

Yeah, asked Nintendo no dice. I got 6 faceplates all scratched because I bought it second hand for a tenner, haven't been able to find anything else either. Maybe when I get enough cash I'll just import a brand new one if they aren't out by then or like a 1000+ a piece

I'm actually looking on Ebay for one. Maybe we could work something out.

Check the sold auctions to find a comp and feel free to PM me a price.

Guys, quick question. A silver Micro, no games, all accesories, manuals, box. Great condition. What would it go for?

I'm not an expert, but I bought my hot pink micro in the same condition as yours for $65 + shipping. You see lots going for more than that on eBay, so you might be able to swing higher, but then again I assume silver is a more common color.

Wow, just randomly found and bought a bunch of Hori screen protectors for my Micros. They only cover the screen portion (not the whole face plate) but they are really nice!

So looking over the last couple of pages, it sounds like faceplates are pretty hard to find? Is that true everywhere? In the UK here and my Micro I got last year has quite a few scratches on the faceplate screen, was hoping to replace it.

Am I out of luck then?

This was a listing I found on a local site. Sadly it was gone before I found it. Thanks anyway!

Had some retro games I had picked up a while back that I ended up not liking as much as I would have hoped, so decided to sell them to my local mom & pop shop. She just happened to have this today, and I nabbed it right away. Nearly perfect condition minus the little scuff on the faceplate there. No scratches or anything.

Looked on Ebay a bit and have Pokemon Fire Red and Doom on their way right now :D

Ok, time for me to sound like an idiot.

I took the faceplate off my Micro, just to get a look at the condition of the actual screen. Thankfully all the marks and are on the faceplate itself.

However, I can't get the bloody thing back on! Not sure if I broke it or what, I pried it off with my finger, from the top right corner. Which appears to not be the way to do it. Am I missing something really obvious? The part on the d-pad side just won't clip in.

Hey GAF. Look at what I found today at a little used game store.

Paid $36 for it. It's in pretty good condition. There are a few scuffs on the faceplate around the screen, but nothing major. The dust under the screen is more distracting than the scratches. I'm going to have to find a couple ballpoint pens and take the faceplate off and blow the dust out.

Nice find! Was that just the unit, or did it come with charger and/or box?

I regret sooo much selling mine and the flash cart. I earned money enough for a psp, but rhythm tengoku on the GBM was so mind blowing, I loved that game.

I sat down with that Micro today and tried to play it a bit and found that the L button is stuck. If I push it hard enough, I can hear the button click, but the trigger won't move.

Yeah, I had a bad shoulder on my green one.

The good thing is that the micro is really easy to take apart. I took every piece and wiped it down. I then shaved a little off of the plastic molding of the L shoulder with a pocket knife.

You do need a tri-wing screwdriver though ($4 on eBay).

Also, you might need to replace the tiny shoulder springs. If they are squeaking, it is a good time to replace them. RC shops probably have them.

I can vouch that this process works for a dud shoulder button. Get some rubbing alcohol to help clean really grimey bits.

What about non-responsive A/B buttons? Same idea? I have two Micros -- one has bad shoulders and the other has a barely functioning A button. Ugh.

If I recall correctly, the A/B buttons are rubber contact pads similar to most controllers. They do not have springs.

It doesn't hurt to take it apart and see what the problem is. Perhaps a bad fold or debris under the pad.

Also, the tri wing screws can be unscrewed with a really small torque screwdriver, if you don't feel like buying a tri-wing driver.

After wanting one of these for long, but never being willing to actually put down the money for one, I bought this today! I walked into the closest local Goodwill store while on my lunch break today and as soon as I walked in I walked up to the glass display right up front and instantly saw this on top and immediately asked to look at it. All I saw was this big thing in that plastic with the white paper on top, and when I saw it said "mini" I was hoping that when I opened it it would actually be a GBM. I ripped it open, and sure enough it was! It didn't power on right away, so I asked if I could plug it in with the charger and it worked. I have let it charge up and it seems good to go now, holding a charge and all. It's too bad the games suck and are just two little kid games, but I finally got a GBM, and I got it for just $15!

Now I just need some games for it that are actually worth playing. What games do you guys recommend that are actually great to play on the GBM?

One of these days I'm just gonba bite and send my Micro to get fixed by Nintendo. I LOVE the actual GBA system so much its worth it to me. Even if I play some games on my phone, it cant replace physical buttons.

Amazing find for $15!! Holy crud that one looks great!

Games:
Havest Moon FOMT: Most addictive game ever. You will be playing it with one hand while eating breakfast.
Castlevania games: all three are great but Harmony feels empty.
Drill Dozer!: Fun and unique feeling
FFTA (Final Fantasy Tactics Advance): Really great game. Also addictive as heck
Final Fantasy Games: Get them only if you haven't played them on SNES. Beware, most of them are counterfeit on amazon/eBay.
Warioware Twisted: plays mostly fine on a micro. Since it is upside-down, the mercury sensor sometimes messes up.
DK King of Swing: Love the shoulder controls. Super relaxing.
Golden Sun Series: Best portable RPGs made for the GBA

Enjoy!

Yeah really, I couldn't believe it! I have fully charged it, and it held the charge overnight so it looks like I'm totally good to go. I have also tested all of the buttons and they all seem to work just fine from testing it with the Avatar and Madagascar games that came with it.

I used to have a GBA so I'm familiar with the library, but thanks for the recommendations anyway. I am more interested in which games may be best for this specific piece of hardware, that's all. I thought maybe certain games looked and played better than others maybe, I don't know.

This may sound crazy, but the first game I want to try to find for cheap again is Kuru Kuru Kururin!

I wish my local goodwills had things like that. I know that they sell good electronics on ebay or employees buy for themselves to flip later.

My local stores always have great items. It's the same two stores I found an NES and SNES complete with multiple games CIB and then the brand new and sealed Mario 64 for a couple of bucks and then of course the four Cobalt Flux wood/metal dance pads for $5 each. I've found lots of other scores, but these are the main video game related ones.

Oddly enough, I was just cleaning out a box on our Ikea shelf and I found some of my old GBA games that I forgot I still owned. I found...

-Super Gunstar Heroes
-The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
-Wario Ware: Twisted!

So I at least have some other things to play on it for the time being. :)

Yup that should keep you busy!

I have honestly never played a game on the micro that I thought would be better on the SP. The resolution and brightness are more than enough to read small text.

I'm probably going to start a replay of FFTA. I haven't played that game in like 8 years.

Ahhhh... so that is what happens. Been playing this on the bus on the way to work, and some days I have to recalibrate the game 2 or 3 times because it gets out of whack.

I love my micro so much I took the trouble of modding a GCN link cable so I could play ffcc and four swords with it. This got me thinking of jumping on solid edge and making a charging station custom fit to the micro and its adapter... If I ever get the time I'll post results. who knows, if I had the cash I'd buy three more and make a charging station for four at a time! Squeeeee! <3 micro!

It's the fact that you're on a bus. Wario Ware Twisted hates it when you're on the move.

Bought a Micro as Gamestop was getting rid of them for 30 dollars and it's awesome, one of my favorite handhelds. It's just really comfortable and fits in my pocket really easily.

I was thinking about getting one of these. My brother has been playing a lot of Gamecube games lately, some that have link cable functionality.

So I look into the Micro to see if it's possible and it seems' like it's not without some soldering skills, sucks, and I'm still on the fence...

Man you guys are so lucky finding GBM in such good conditions locally for those prices! Would love one to play Pokemon Leaf Green on the go!
