It is unfortunate that people love to label themselves and others "Left" or "Right" (two sides of the same coin) and to me, it just goes to show that people are "hive-like" and mostly hypocrites, no one looks at how they are acting, only how the other is acting and are looking for a "gotcha" moment. Things are not absolute. I've come to realize with everything that is happening around the world, there are "sides" and people haven't really changed all that much from years ago. It's a different version of that division which is finally leaking. Ugh.

Gaming companies need to vet their future community managers better. There are so many people passionate about certain games or IP's... hire them and not crazy people from twitter/bsky or former reddit mods using their new position for things that could actually hurt the sales and the company's image.

for the AAA studios i'd agree but Void Interactive the OG team originally were pushing boundaries with portraying things like a college shooting and human trafficking, they didn't seem very woke.
Clearly once publishers get involved and the gaming machine takes over the weirdos infiltrate.

That would be an overreach and a literal violation of free speech. Corporations have the right to hire anyone that says anything under the protection of free speech and those same corporations have the right to ban any type of public facing controversial speech; however, the government doesn't have the right to dictate what their speech related policies are.
What the government could do is establish government regulation over the industry like they have with tv and radio and be more hands on, but that'd also not really be a good thing.

The statement "hey, we don't celebrate people dying" shouldn't have been a contentious one.

We were at the peak of institutional capture - media, academia, and tech all moving in lockstep to enforce ideological conformity.
