I got temp banned from there for stating that I thought a married man choosing not to be alone with another woman wasn't sexist, but rather reasonable and beneficial to his marriage. At that point I realized what kind of place I was in and never returned.

Which is unfortunate because some of my sensibilites are more aligned with some people there, like I enjoy cozy moments in games and would like to talk indepth about them. But I'd choose Neogaf's rougher edges any day of the week over that overall awful forum. I enjoy this site immensely every day, especially as I don't have to walk on eggshells.

Yes, exactly, and those saying they are no longer going to buy Ghost of Yotei either were never going to buy it anyway or at the very least on the fence about it, i doubt anyone is now not buying the game because of the opinions of a texture artist.

I don't think that's a fair comparison.

A comic series is usually the work of a single author whose personal brand is tightly tied to the product itself.
If that author makes a serious public misstep, the publisher has little choice because their name and work are inseparable.

But in the case of a large game studio, with hundreds or even thousands of people working on a project, one developer's personal comment is not the same thing as the studio's stance. The connection is much more indirect.

That's not to say companies can never respond if the situation gets enough attention.
But equating every employees comment with the companys official position would set an impossible standard for big studios.

Which particular legislation are you referring to? I see a drop in 2019 for example but ofcourse other factors like population increase play a part, as does other things like a rise in gangs. it would be a lot more involved to try to see the effect of a particular piece of legislation but even in your graph I see a large fall in that year.

The 2019 legislation wasn't much of a change anyway mostly concentrated on prohibiting sales of corrosive acids due to acid attacks but had some additional laws for the sale of knives too, particularly to underage individuals and prosecuting those who sell them weapons to kids. There was additions to what is considered an offensive weapon too, those used for violence, knuckledusters, cyclone knives and death stars.

Fair enough, if that makes you feel good, then go ahead. If you've been waiting for this game, the FOMO will hit even harder, and chances are you'll move on and forget what happened yesterday, just like most people do.
But let's be clear: enjoying the game does not erase the fact that the company needs to be called out and held accountable for the way their workers responded.

Don't forget that countless people contributed to this game, and some of them may be just as outraged by that post as we are. This isn't a direct statement from Sucker Punch as a studio, it's individual people acting out.
If we cancelled every single project over individual wrongdoing, there would be nothing left to play.

I will continue to support Sucker Punch, because gaming is my passion and I respect their work.
But that does not change the fact that I am deeply disgusted by both the shooting and the insensitive response that followed.

I agree he is saying it is an unfortunate but acceptable cost. Saying he is therefore 'totally ok' with children being killed is obviously a ridiculous misrepresentation of that position.

I expect you support due process, the right to a trial and the standard of 'guilty beyond a reasonable doubt', but you would not be 'totally ok' with someone who was released because the state couldn't prove them guilty beyond a reasonable doubt murdering someone else the next day. That is a risk we accept to prevent the state jailing anyone they feel like, but it does not mean we are 'totally ok' with that murder.
