There is hope.
Hopefully there can be a new trend towards making good games quickly and efficiently like Clair Obscura 33. A group of like 30 people too. And amazingly the studio was built up during hectic covid time.
If this studio and game isnt the posterboy for making good games at totally reasonable time and resources, then nothing will.
Over the decades i thought more big companies would actually skew to making more quality indie games for cheap. A quality high selling indie game selling for $10 or $15 must have stratospheric ROI. If a group of basement dwellers can figure out selling a lot of copies making a game from their basement, then big corporations with their magnitude of resources should be able to do the same, but sell 10x the copies.
But for whatever reason, big gaming companies dont like operating that way. If they think dumbing down to $10 indie level is too low brow, then at least figure out a Clair Obscura 33 way of making games which is a higher production value game.

DEI is a set of policies and procedures that are about more than just race; it encompassed hiring based sexual orientation, ethnicity, religious beliefs, as way to divest away from…wait for it…fine print incoming…THEM EVIL WHITES (males mostly).
So, basically, merit can go fuck itself so we can hire based on parameters listed above rather than just choose the best candidate.
Maybe that candidate is a tri-spirit lesbian named Scooter. Maybe it's the white guy named Paul. But DEI wanted to further push affirmative action ideas.

It's not about believing. In Europe it's already happening at an alarming rate and it's not an opinion, its demograhic data which says so. And the causes are clear as day. And the wacky left wonders why Trump won. And that's despite his usual self being really loud and annoying. And he still won as they got way more votes and dem voter count tanked.
The amazing thing is big events like Trump getting his ear shot or this Kirk case are tipping point kinds of situations. What one side of people do (post reactions) will sway a lot of opinions of moderate folks.
The entrenched left or righty isnt moving. No matter what someone does they will always vote red or blue. But those on-the-fencers who can be swayed to change votes every election based on what happens and how each side acts will have many voting for the side that is least dickish. And that says a lot since Trump is a pretty dickish person already. But it goes to show how bad the other side is if he still won. It's like US elections and everyone knows most states will already be red or blue. But there's those 10-12 battleground states who can flip flop every 4 years. Those are the ones that decide the winner.
Its actually not hard to win favouritism from the masses. No different than being the popular kid in high school. Just focus on winning the masses by acting and doing things people enjoy more than the other guys trying to be popular. If someone focuses on being the most popular guy saying dumb things or focusing on the chess club, instead of being funny and on the football team, he's going to have a hard time being top dog. It doesnt matter how many times he doubles down on being chess master. That's not going to win popularity. And if something tragic happens and after his chess match he goes around laughing about how the quarterback died in a car accident it wont help either. It'll make it worse.
It's really not hard to understand. But a lot of people in life cant understand how personal actions relate to how other people perceive them. And from there it spreads to blanketing entire groups into stereotyping.

However, what does the see few dumb egg heads have to do with the rest of the teams employed who worked on said games?
The luxury of online sites is that you can block the people you don't agree or want to engage with. Anyone else saying otherwise. Wasn't buying this game to begin with. We see this time and time again.

I totally agree with this - I think the ability to separate art from the artist is incredibly important, especially now. A lot of my favorite shit was made by terrible people, I'm sure, but I don't see the value in allowing one's extracurriculars to diminish those achievements.

Do you think that this person is able to work on an environment with different opinions ? Or do you think the company as a whole was a very comfortable place for her thoughts and ideas a "dream job" as she referred to... do you think the choice of the actress for the main character is a coincidence ? ..

But to be fair, as I said a few times give it till Monday (tomorrow). This SP girl event didnt happen till late night Wednesday. So they might need a few days to sort it out or perhaps even weed through the rest of the team too. Supposedly other SP employees liked the comment. And it's ultra rare any gaming company releases news on a weekend.

It is not this nuanced. As a black gay person I've worked under people I totally disagreed with. However, policies were put into place for us to keep it strictly on work, because we all have families to feed. Believe it or not the internet is not real. Most people are actually cowardly in real life and won't share their opinion unless they 100% they're being backed up.
So no, I don't know. What I do know is that we are now trying to villify people a whole group of people for someone else's actions. We haven't even given the other people a chance to even do anything. If that's how people choose to think. By all means, but that's how Pandoras box gets opened. People have no time or money to give every other person or product another chance. For some people, if something pisses them off they'll immediately blacklist the entire brand or company going forward even though 99.9% of the company and people have nothing to do with the things they are specifically pissed about.
Also some people may also purposely penalize the rest of the company as their way of payback for doing something stupid.
And I think we've all done this. Surely you too.
For example, years back I bought a Sony 900e TV. Supposed to be an awesome TV. Worst TV I ever had. Dead pixels, sluggish UI, ARC audio whatever port didnt work a few years in so I had to use an optical audio cord. So going forward I got a new LG TV as a replacement. Zero issues so far. Only thing I've had to do is replace the battery in the remote! Hey you never know, maybe I just got a lemon and the rest of Sony's AV equipment are top notch. But I got no time giving them my business buying another TV. But I'll give a chance the next time I buy a clock radio. The cube thing I got 20 years ago still works! So I'll support them there.

Sadly, this was similar to Chris Ray Gun's take
Sacred Symbols this week.
He had posted mockingly "thoughts and prayers" after the assassination.
He has a pretty visible history of posting support for violence like with Luigi Mangoome, he's made "jokes" about throwing a party when Musk and. Enzo's die. He's "jokingly" told people to kill themselves after the election - which seemed to really bruise him.
His explanation was that there's a double standard about these things - referencing the school shooting that happened the same day.
But, he never comments on the violence - especially lately because it's been trans/trans aligned/leftists shooting the schools so his explanation felt real hollow.
I'd not throw him quite into the celebratory crowd, but it's unfortunate to see regardless as I rather like him.

Youre more giving than me. I'll never give Sony a chance for TVs. Not when I'm spending about $2000. For me, once a brand or a product line sucks from them I'm done with them. There's other brands to try out. Same goes for cars. If a brand stinks, I'll try a different company next time.

You are right in everything you say here. Using this reasoning, I dont blame devs at SP for not voicing dissenting opinions from their loudest colleagues, who seem unable to shut up.
But this means that the company has created an environment where there are no space for all the voices. Some devs are allowed to vent their most radical rants, while others must remain silent and comply.
When was the last time you read a western dev defending a conservative opinion online? Clearly, there's discrimination going on behind the curtains and that must be called out and punished.

Sony is such a weird conglomerate of siloes. On the one hand, Sony has the Playstation gaming division which is their most successful company division which is responsible for like 80% of their revenue and almost all their profits. On the other hand, Sony has the long-struggling TV division who can't even produce a TV with input lag comparable to the LG, Samsung, and Chinesium equivalents for good gaming experiences

There's always a case to be made for letting art stand on its own. But for me, that feels harder to do now than it used to. A lot of modern western games don't really let you separate the art from the artist, because the politics or ideology aren't in the background anymore, they're front and centre.
With older games, it was easier to just enjoy them without thinking about who made them, since the focus was on design, mechanics and fun. And you'd appreciate the designers for that and not necessarily anything regarding their worldview. These days, though, it feels like the art itself is often compromised in service of a message.
