Game Developers celebrating assassination of Charlie Kirk [Update] Sucker Punch Dev Fired, and SP issue statement

No, that is very deliberate
This.

This is so laughable.

Sure, he has every right to come on here and post his opinion, no matter what kind of stupid it is, but now he is just lying completely.

Also, does anyone remember the alleged right winger who attacked the Minnesota politician was apparently doing so at the behest of Tim walz? There's obviously no real data backing up that is true so we don't go around saying it like it's fact, unlike what this guy is doing, which is spreading debunked and false data.

You, sir, are a piece of poo

Pretty scary how many on here have fallen down the rabbit hole of right wing /Russian / Chinese propaganda all designed to destabilise the west.
Even grok knows the right are the main enemy here, kirk was killed by someone who thought he wasnt extreme enough. Of course Elon one of the peddlers of all this misinformation and benefitors of its propagation will have it reprogrammed to better reflect the truth he wants you all to here and you guys will fall for it no doubt.

Nice bait
I think it would be fair if you would expand on your claim.
Tim Pool taking an insane amount of Russian money and later feigning ignorance is true.

At least the Suckep Punch POS was fired, and promptly so.

Stephen King and many other people in their 70/80s simply don't understand current world. They are leftists because always have been, and culture usually tends toward the left for its ideals.

Having to check at their advanced age that today"woke" left is very different to their time, to disgrain the concepts they use, to actually analize who is being totalitarian in their thought and full of hatred towards other groups, who conceive identitarian mobs and not individuals, who is really whitewashing political use of violence its too much for them. They don't want to see or can't accept their party has turned to be something totally different and they are on the wrong side. Some of them do, but few.

The funny thing, specifically with King, was that he's been lambasted and fact checked before for outright lying and spreading false info to suit his political position- yet he does so consistently and continually…

Which leads me to think that he knows he is doing it, or doesn't really care what is true and hope he gets away with it. Or, the backlash and ridicule of getting fact checked, and then subsequently having to retract his statements, at least in his estimation, does less damage to him than he feels the initial pushing a falsified data does to push his overall agenda, so he takes the hit

Well, now we know Playstation and Sucker Punch are okay with people celebrating murderer within their company and workers

I will avoid their products as much as I can from now on.

Still not a peep. You can't just silently fire the employee who celebrated murder and hope it will all just go away.

I don't know this person, but I watched this clip and this Blair person seems pretty level headed?

Are they a POS outside of this interview?
trans but not detached from reality or pushing dogmatic views on others.
if you want to see a more balanced conversation, because joe is much better at it, with blair, check out JRE 1746

What's puzzling (not really) about the whole Sony situation is that I'm sure they do feel trapped…from a purely optical perspective.

But, let's recall when all the corporations put black squared and rote messages of solidarity for BLM and the George Floyd death.

And this is DURING AND AFTER the Summer of Love riots. And after the BLM org was shown to be grifting.

There was an obvious political aspect to that, and from my recollection, it was fully endorsed.

Here you have an employee in a senior position at the company that's JUST about to launch their next big title come out and celebrate a political figure assassination. - and from what I can tell, many more at the studio supporting tweets celebrating it as well.

You'd think Sony would at least do the generic post saying they don't do condone this etc etc…

I don't think it matters if it's a few or a whole bunch, the optics are horrible and what it signals from a moral perspective is gross.

Queue the " corporations aren't moral" brigade, and I reference you to the paragraph I wrote above about BLM. If corporations are filled with humans who have morals and values, and those people are in decision-making positions and choose to support, and conversely not support, political and social movements than that obviously communicates that they will propagate moral positions when it suits them - 🤷

But not a peep.

I think they can, to be fair. There's no need to bring more attention to this from a business perspective. They'll just weed out the worst offenders and discipline the ones that they can retain as employee. I'd honestly be surprised if we see them make any sort of public announcement.

I don't disagree that the tactic you were mentioning is a fine one to employ, I don't think it's optimal or looks the best, but sure that's how they could be handling it.

But, as Sony has shown, they are a company that prioritizes and promotes liberal agendas, why? Well, that's because they are largely western and the social and political meanings of most of their studios, again western, are that of the left leaning variety. So they are going to, as a corporation, feel the pressure to propagate and promote those positions.

Here we have a right wing, political, firebrand, assassinated, and you have a very vocal swath of this industry, presently mocking and celebrating his death, and whatever part of that swath works at Sony's Studios should be reprimanded and and punished. And Sony doing so publicly would be a great optical, move for their purchasing public, again, who are largely western and probably hold a lot of the views Charlie did.

Again, not that I agree. Everything should become political and corporations should be making statements on everything political. But Sony has already made decisions in the past on vocally supporting left, leaning ideologies and causes. So for them to quietly sneak around in the background and fire a few people and twiddle their thumbs and whistle, and hope nobody Keeps pushing them only further the obvious truth, which is they don't have respect for the other part of their purchasing public that it's probably right leaning or moderate, or hell, they don't agree with the grade, dancing and disrespect. But Sony will not show an equal measure respect

Video game companies are captured by left wing ideologues. The studio heads and owners agree with their outspoken employees or empathize with them. I doubt you will see much from them unless they need to save face or have a severe amount of external pressure.

I also think they will stay silent... but they will not fire anyone aside from that one person.. they will just send the usually "stfu for a little while" memo and move on.

IF she was really fired, btw.

The amazing thing is how Sony California really is detached from Sony Japan this days ... because you couldn't think any of this shit happening on the Japan side.. but they (Sony Japan) apparently dont give a single fuck as long as their pockets are full... it seems short-sighted but welp , its been working for them I think.

Suspect apparently lived with his «boyfriend» who is a «male in the process of transitiong to female». Havent seen this talked about much in mass media but its straight from the governor of Utah.

Seen quite a few companies make statements condemning the statements made by their employees. I see no reason why Sony cannot do the same.

I thought he was far right?

The truth is that either side will embrace using "free-speech" as a bludgeoning tool when it fits their agenda and decry it when it's being used against them. People are far less principled than they believe, and mostly do what's convenient and then repent.

It's within everyone's rights to say whatever they want about Charlie Kirk - good, bad, or indifferent. It's also within an employers right to get rid of an employee for any reason.

I do think it is somewhat immature to espouse your political beliefs public. There is no upside and you risk a great deal.

Wrong. The crazies have escalated things to a point where cannot be left alone anymore. The traditional passiveness of the Right has enbolded the most deranged, who now dominate the "democrat" discourse, normalizing things that only fly in totalitarian regimes. That must be finished at once by all means necessary or things will get ugly by the next elections.

People who are asking for more assassinations need to be shut down or violence will become part of your daily news real soon.
I'm never going to be that person who goes after someone's livelihood over a comment on the internet, but I completely understand what she is saying. And let's not pretend it's the same. The "cancel culture" of the left was petty bullshit, that lasted nearly two decades, not a bunch of people glorifying assassination. A teacher repeatedly showing 10 year old's Charlie Kirks up close assassination video, ranting about trans rights and telling them "he got what he deserved" isn't remotely similar to calling someone a slur or massive hate campaign because a Vtuber played Hogwart's Legacy.
Yeah, you guys didn't read what I said:

>There is something to be said about people in public service openly celebrating someone's death on social media. Being overzealous and listing everyone who doesn't mourn sufficiently enough to the point of a self-admitted cancel culture parallel is stupid.

I don't need to be lectured about the recent history of the political left, or even to be told that there must be pushback against the attempted narrative around Kirk:

I will note that there was practically zero real pushback from the right when the left who celebrated Brian Thompson's death. Because it wasn't exclusive to the left.

People need to wake up and realize that not everybody wants de-escalation and a return to civility/normality. Some people want destabilization and unrest because it offers them a chance to seize power.
Oh, I know. When people like Angry_Megalodon Angry_Megalodon start using phrases like "by any means necessary", it's difficult not to see where some people are thinking. When I see top personalities implying or explicating fascistic intent, and all sorts of slogans in relation to it (ie references to Weimar, talk about "solutions", etc, you know the woke left energy is now galvanizing on the right.

Im sad about Charlie Kirk's death. Even sadder to see the reactions to it. People on the left celebrating this is disgusting. It is equally as disgusting as the automatic accusation that the killer was a liberal democrat from the right. And equally as disgusting as people saying this now means war. What's worse is that the people who are supposed to help unite the nation are in fact stoking the fires. The United States needs healing, not war. The rhetoric nowadays almost guarantees reciprocity for Charlie. That threat alone will silence many who would otherwise exercise their first amendment right to free speech. That is not democracy. And that is what is the saddest of all

Don't get me wrong, I think the possibility is there for them to release a statement, but I think it's too much of a slippery slope. And drawing more attention to it won't help Sucker Punch or Ghost of Yotei.

This was out on Saturday, and there are new investigations into several dozen people from a trans Discord group. It sounds like many people had prior knowledge and may have helped plan.

Another guy the shooter was cheating on the furry trans with was also tracked down. But I'm sure people are still going to argue he was "right wing".

The neighbor that was interviewed put it best when the media was trying to represent them as just room mates. "Regular friends generally aren't holding hands and kissing".

The best way to prevent it from drawing any more attention IS to release a statement. Seems like the smart thing to do. But I don't believe Sony has been very smart about their PR in a while.

That is why I am perfectly fine with a total videogame crash.

The whole industry needs to wipe the slate clean from these left wing fanatics who have infested the game development circle. I do blame them on inflated prices and lower quality products.
