Game Developers celebrating assassination of Charlie Kirk [Update] Sucker Punch Dev Fired, and SP issue statement

Remember when this game launched the "punch a Nazi" phrase became a meme, but again, they are calling everyone who disagrees with their insane ideology a Nazi.

Considering the close circle of endorsed gaming personalities like Alanha, Mecante, Grubb, Miller etc., it's clear that the western gaming industry (especially around that place) is beyond fucked. I just hope the internet army and consumers push hard enough

This is gonna sound extreme, but if we had another major attack like 9/11 in this modern day America.... I guarantee we would be seeing millions of these young dumbass kids and game devs from these studios celebrating instead of mourning.

I was 16 when the towers got hit. No American celebrated, it was a time of unity and everyone came together. That will 100% NOT happen today. We would be getting tiktoks of green haired Jabba the Hutts dancing out of excitement, nose ring and over tattooed teachers tweeting how America deserved it and the typical trans and antifa losers disrupting vigils and getting violent for innocent Americans who lost their lives.

People's deranged anger and hatred over the last decade or two have taken over their lives. Some of these things are totally irrelevant to their lives too. Many of these people are not uneducated too...they've just become evil and are too blind to see it.

I was watching old Fast Jet a minute ago

That bloke that he shows laughing into the camera whilst 'talking to the family..'

Yeah, I'm not very religious, but that truly is some demonic shit.

And then you notice he's in what looks to be a nice house, he doesn't look like he's doing too bad, and then it really hits. These people, the high ups, the judges, the Epstein list lot, the police chiefs, the tutors at universities (Especially here in the UK)

They really have sold their soul somewhere down the line.

Yeah, it's pretty disappointing but not expected given the shit he and his friends say on The Snark Tank, he usually tones it down for Sacred Symbols and given the nature of the show, that works most of the time.

Chris walked a weird line on the podcast. Halfway expressing remorse and saying it was an ill timed joke, and half doubling down on generic left leaning responses we've all heard. School shootings, quotes of Kirk taken out of context, free speech is important, etc.

Colin should have suspended him for a while. I'm not saying he should have been fired, I haven't had time to marinate on that. But they should have taken Chris out of the equation for a while to let everyone, including him, calm down. Disappointed.
I actually don't disagree with CHRIS and his take that anything is on the table to be joked about, I think he has the right and free speech to do that. But as the left have reminded us there is no freedom from consequences regardless of your freedom of speech, right?

That being said, I didn't see that Chris was grave, dancing or celebrating like some of these horrible people did and the fact that it happened and he had a much more candid conversation about it. But, he also petaled bullshit out of context, quotes, and obviously didn't care to research what Charlie said or stood for. She probably still would've disagreed, but at least he would've disagreed from a place of good faith rather than the typical liberal low effort, bullshit that we saw people getting their ass handed for a couple pages back.

Finally, I love last stand. I've been a supporter for many years and will continue to do so. I don't think I don't want CHRIS to be let go, I enjoy his humor, regardless of his political beliefs, not aligning with mine. And for Colin, I can't imagine it was easy for him to see his business. Take a financial hit and to see his community upset over something like this, because I do believe he considers Chris a friend, so it was an awkward situation for him. I really wish he would've pushed back against Chris more because it was obvious CHRIS really didn't care about Kirk getting assassinated.

CHRIS has posted really shitty things on blue sky and support of Luigi Mangione assassinating the United healthcare CEO; he posted that he wants to have a party when Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos die, I recall people mentioning him making jokes about people should go kill themselves Because they supported Trump, but I haven't seen anything to verify that. So, it felt a little hypocritical for him to sit there, and say a large part of his tweet, was fueled by the fact that people were selective about their outrage when there was a school shooting, almost the same time as Kirk being assassinated. I don't see that CHRIS has mentioned or given any Creedence to any of the school shootings this year, and why would that be? Well, I have one guess which is that these people are all trans or trans aligned and they are the ones doing the shooting of these Christian schools and churches, and that's his side of the aisle… so, it just rang Hollow.

If I had to hazard a guess, I think Sony had to step in and insist and SP were pissed, and some sort of agreement was reached where face would be saved publicly if SP agreed to mutually terminate her

didn't understand what she meant here, can someone translate for the non-native speakers?

Why does Sony have to assume culpability for an employee's tweet made on their own time?
Who is asking for them to assume culpability for what a retard employee says? But would it be so hard for Sony to release a statement condemning this kind of shit and state quite clearly they don't stand for what this person said? Shoe was on the other foot and it was a prominent leftie who was assassinated by a right winger with a right winger mocking his death, Sony would've released statements condemning this rhetoric completely. It's bullshit double standards and you know it like we all do.

To paraphrase the wise words of President Joe Biden, our differences ought to be settled at the battlebox ballot box, not the battlefield.
And in the marketplace. Vote with your wallet.

Nothing makes a company quiver in fear more than sales dropping like a rock. That's when emergency meetings happen and people get gassed as the company has to get back to a reasonable SG&A ratio. In more stable industries humming along in a boring way, all it takes is a bad month or two down -5% and shit goes down hard like the apocalypse.

Then people try to increase sales by analyzing data and fixing things short term or long term to boost it because something bad is going on customers dont like.

I'd hope that logical brainstorming applies to whether a company sells salt, games or helicopters. Make customers happy with a good product, good price and no hassles and that's all you can ask for as they decide the fate of the product. Adding mistakes or bad PR to a product is unneeded barriers to success. Why any company wants to keep going with roadblocks is a mystery.

But hey when you got a crowd of folks at work collectively acting retarded, then traditional business sense gets thrown out the window for personal politics which can lead to bad products, or at minimum a bad stigma about it.

Looking at some of the stupid PR lately, a company like Bethesda cant even get a good Twitter handler working there.

You have Americans which would want ak47s from the terrorist to kill fellow Americans.

Same in Europe

I'm just sad, man. People all over social media are mad, are mean, are angry. It feels like too much to handle. I think I'm gonna delete my Facebook and just play some (lighthearted) games with my kid. He beat his first level in Mario World last night and was so proud of himself.

She's rotten, got fired for saying nasty shit, doesn't represent the company as a whole and still loves them. How many other rotten apples were fired from Sucker Punch?

"Shows maturity" fucking retard, she literally named herself Punching nazis til I die.
She's not going to fuck you, bro.

christ this is foul
I'm speechless and just shaking my head at this point.

why is this not enough? Why does Sony have to assume culpability for an employee's tweet made on their own time?

They've done the right thing by laying Harrison off. Same way other institutions have done.

I think the response is perfectly fair.
Sucker Punch has made zero statements and hasn't taken an official stance against the vile behaviour of their employees. Sucker Punch is fully owned by Sony Interactive Entertainment, it's their studio, and neither have they gone out in public condemning it.

When she says "a few bad apples" she's clearly referring to the people who disagree with her. That means the majority of the studio supports her and shares the same views, as anyone could suspect. That's why they remain silent.

MS doubled down on all the DEI, they're not going to care about Bethesda being retarded. All their studios are gonna turn into land of make-believe people statement gaymes

I knew she'd be back posting. She couldnt even get through the weekend taking a breather as she posted a few times yesterday on her Bluesky.

The oddest part of all of this is that they didn't have to say anything at all. You know? It's like they just couldn't help themselves. I guess they get some kind of internet points for it.

Yeah it's insane. They really have insulated themselves from the outside world. They literally only saw cheers and excitement for his death and thought they were the majority.

This is why Sony needs to make a statement. The narrative is going to take shape on its own if they don't get ahead of it. It may be too late though. And really......they should have made a statement because it would have been the right thing to do.

I was going to buy it digitally day 1, probably digital deluxe if there is one . . . now I plan to put off buying it until I see it used at GameStop. I haven't bought a physical game in about a year or so, but I will just to make sure SP doesn't get my money or the sales number from me.

Not even just politically isolated.

Just look at the way lots of dev market their games. They work on it for 5 years and out of nowhere show a preview of the game and gamers hate it. Or the alpha or beta test is no better. The game comes out in less than a year so there's really no turning back.

So the studio works under a dome thinking what they make and what they say is best ever. The general public sees tweets and the game for the first time and it could be junk city. There shouldnt be any company on Earth that should have such divisive views between internal workers and external customers. Only time that happens is if the company (or studio) has no idea whats going on in the marketplace.

That's the problem, you're supposed to meet your customers where they are, yes maybe give them something they didn't know they wanted like that Steve Jobs quote, but instead they let these studios think they're artists, and art is to make a statement, art is supposed to say something about the creator, and yea it's beauty is in the eye of the beholder so mild sales is fine. etc.

The art in games is just the polish to deliver game mechanics and a story into a capitalist product boxed up for retail stores. Get off your high horses.

Oh I agree with you, they are in their own clown world circle jerk.

That's called virtue signaling. Something the retards on the left NEED to do to make themselves look good to all their fellow comrades.

Its a weird thing because some studios will show their games years out. And not just a CGI clip, but gameplay or an early access test etc.... The point is to get some feedback (and some early access $) so when the game comes out in 2 years the studio have enough time to fix some shit.

But then some studios market the game the last minute way where it's basically their vision. Take it or leave it. And if you dont like it, get out of the way.

Such an odd way of making products to sell.

It's also just dopamine and having no purpose in life. Most are so self absorbed they're fine with killing a baby that's inconvenient, or shooting someone over words they don't like, or not having a family or kids so I can focus on me, and no religion to speak of. etc.
It's a lonely pathetic selfish and stupid way to live, and the only way to avoid that realization is to chat with the other morons online that fell for it too.

You can tell just by the way they look and act (not even political topics needed to be discussed, heck they could be talking about Big Macs vs Whoppers), that wild west lefty group crave attention, insanely emotional, and they got a hard time accepting if someone else has a different view.

So it's like..... Hey bud. Accept me for who I am. Even if I got pink hair, treat all of us equally.

But then there's a hot topic being discussed, and it changes to...... Fuck you. My way is better you bigoted jerk. Haha. Good he got killed.

Ya, that's some sound judgement. Add in the rebel weird look and they wonder why people and companies dont take them seriously and they got a hard time getting good jobs except in low end jobs or creative/education jobs they can sneak in because their buddies are already there in an industry with lots of story and plot which carries the narrative.

Agree. These people live in an echo chamber. Any dissenting thoughts are wrong and need to be shut down immediately. Or in this case, shot and killed. It's disgusting and seems like the youth of today is going down this path (not everyone obviously but it is an alarming trend).

The sad thing is, most of these people actively need the same dissent that they're so quick to shut down. People need to be challenged. They need to get pushback when they go off the rails. They need to be presented with a wide variety of viewpoints, and they need to understand at a deep level that their perspective isn't the only one that matters. These things are healthy. They're necessary for growth, and they're necessary for mental health. And distressingly, these are the very things these people have spent the past decade attempting to cast out of their communities.

I don't agree with everything everyone in this thread says, for example, but I'm grateful for both the people I agree AND disagree with. It's a good feeling when people reinforce my existing beliefs, but it's oftentimes even more valuable when people disagree with me. It can stop me from going too far towards the extremes, which in turn makes me less prone to the outrage and depression that come with going too far in one direction. It shows me that it's okay to have different opinions, or even that it's okay and human to be wrong or flawed.

Echo chambers are bad not just for the people outside them, but the people INSIDE them. It's been heartbreaking watching so many corners of the internet cultivate them on purpose.

He's literally verbatim confirming the exact scenarios that I detailed days ago. Suckerpunch supported him and everything he said wholeheartedly and didn't want to do anything to him, but Sony Corp execs stepped in and made them do something cause the bean counters assessed the risk of mounting boycotts having a real impact on the financials of the game and studio.

Yep bc damn near the entire studio agrees with her

At this point I'm DONE with SP at some point it will be on + and I have years accumulated up
I wouldn't be surprised if she got a nice severance and an apology from the SP team (delivered via phone call, so it's not documented).

When she says "a few bad apples" she's clearly referring to the people who disagree with her. That means the majority of the studio supports her and shares the same views, as anyone could suspect. That's why they remain silent.
And it explains why there's a significant amount of people deciding to not buy Yotei. It's not because of just one employee. She was hired as a result of Sony/Playstation's hiring practices. She wasn't some anomaly who slipped through the cracks.
