Game Developers celebrating assassination of Charlie Kirk [Update] Sucker Punch Dev Fired, and SP issue statement

...wow, this is some scary shit. So, basically censorship?
Emily Jashinski and Batya Ungar-Sargon went over this last night on her After Party show.

The FCC chairman did himself NO favors but talking the way he did, but he is not the reason why Kimmel got pulled; that was at the discretion of next star and syndicated local airwaves not wanting Kimmel -

This is a slippery slope in general. The government loans the airwaves out. Broadcasters ostensibly rent them - enter the FCC.

Now I don't think there should be censorship- but after all the extremist leftist violence with them always parroting the same language all mainstream Dems spew day in and out, something was bound to give.

I hate where this could lead

This is another example of them twisting the situation, and granted they were given ammo, to make it seem like Trump/The Administration did this.

Also, Kimmel FLAT OUT LIED after the facts of the case had been presented by the FBI on Robinson's motive etc…he came on the news the next night and stoked more division against Right wing.

Final fucking edit: and Adam Kinzinger is about a Republican as a Cat is a Dog. So, don't let the RINO fool you.

Not sure this is accurate. Plenty of well loved female oriented movies were written and produced by majority men before 2010.

The problem is their ideology asks "What should be?" rather than "What is?"

No idea what you're all talking about, but the first woman is also pretty. Anyone saying otherwise is pretty much gay.

This republican can articulate the problem much better than I can:

How all this isn't blatantly obvious to most people is beyond me, although I suppose with a lot of folks it's very much a "whatever fits my narrative is okay" situation, as usual.🤷🏻‍♂️

His first statement in the video is false. People didn't want Kimmel removed from his ABC spot for the Trump quote clip. They wanted him held accountable for spreading literal fake news/conspiracy theories that the shooter was MAGA on network TV, which directly contradicts the evidence provided by the FBI and Utah authorities. The shooter's motives were crystal clear, especially if you've read his Discord messages to his SO/roommate while he was hiding from authorities. He was not, in any way, MAGA.

I'm just going to stop posting and wait for Omni, because he says it way better and 40,000 less words.

You will get different answers depending on one's confirmation bias here.

IMHO the network was probably looking for a reason to boot him already. I don't think the ratings were very good.

Here's my 2 cents based on my own confirmation bias:

Technically this isn't censorship since the government did not yank any licenses or(I assume) start any process to do so. Rather the comments made were "lateral pressure" and a "bully pulpit." Oftentimes presidents and others use these things as a form of soft power. However government censorship did not occur. Just my opinion.

This is a tricky spot. The networks are renting that space from the government, and part of the rental agreement says that the content must be in the service of the public. The FCC chairman's POV is that political bias is against the service of the public, and any channel that is engaging in political bias is going to be scrutinized by the FCC. Since Jimmy Kimmel "misled" the public regarding the shooter's politics (according to the FCC chairman), this is a violation of the network's agreement with the FCC.

I am not saying that any of this is right or wrong. I don't truly understand the rules behind the networks renting the broadcasting rights from the government. I am just saying that is the stance the FCC chairman is taking. If that is a valid stance (and again, I don't know if it is or not), then there is no censorship here. It's simply a violation of network agreements.

The Commission's prohibition against the broadcast of hoaxes is set forth at Section 73.1217 of the Commission's rules, 47 C.F.R. § 73.1217.
This rule prohibits broadcast licensees or permittees from broadcasting false information concerning a crime or a catastrophe if:

  1. the licensee knows this information is false;
  2. it is foreseeable that broadcast of the information will cause substantial public harm; and
  3. broadcast of the information does in fact directly cause substantial public harm.

Holy shit this is some olympic gymnast level whitewashing contrivance there.

The more I look into this, the more it seems this isn't entirely accurate. From the same FCC website just a bit below that information:

For purposes of this rule, "public harm'' must begin immediately, and cause direct and actual damage to property or to the health or safety of the general public, or diversion of law enforcement or other public health and safety authorities from their duties.

From my review, the "hoax" referenced here is referring more to a "War of the Worlds" situation where the public thought the broadcast was real, AND it caused mass panic. I don't think the FCC has the authority to do anything regarding Jimmy Kimmel's comments.

Fox News doesn't have an FCC license they are a cable network.

Ah okay, gotcha: it's okay to mislead and even be openly amoral if you're just a major mainstream cable news network, and not an entertainment satirical chat show, which fulls under other regulations. Seems straightforward enough.

Good points, but it should be pointed out that just because a government official says they might do something, it doesn't mean they actually can. I don't think the FCC should be saying shit like he did on a podcast. Trump shouldn't have been talking shit about taking Greenland either. FCC didn't take Kimmel off the air and I doubt they could. That's why I tried to point out repeatedly that we have courts in place that can overrule unlawful decisions by the government.

But talking about how government actually works apparently isn't a valid response.

No idea. We need Ugo Lord "Which makes the network NOT liable".

Such sacrosanctity. Better shutdown Fox News then.
All corporate media would be shut down.

Kimmel isn't satire. But as we saw since 2020 it IS okay for all mainstream cable news to lie.

Bruh, what are you on about out? Because the archetype of a videogame male player is not someone that lifts and has an active lifestyle. It's a beta cuck. 100 pounds overweight.

You complain about radical leftist ideas, how about you take a look at your belly and if you can see your dick while looking down, I bet majority of people can't.

Want less leftist ideas? Shape up and glorify physical exercise.
Vs a picture of a leftish like you who is a 6'4 skinny dude with a long beard wearing a dress spending every ounce of free time running up and down the street protesting every issue your cult is in line with. Recent games have went down the toilet and most of them start from horrible character design. Regardless of circumstances video games are suppose to take our minds away from the bullshit of the world not glorify it. As far as seeing my dick why don't you come and have a closer look and I will show it to you asshole.

The monologue was literally satire complete with audience laughter.

Satire or not you can't lie about proven facts with the intention of manipulating your audience. In my country they use "fake satire" (what this is) in order to avoid defamation and claim "they were kidding" everytime they cross the line. It's an overused trick, very easy to see through it.

In March 2020 there were many media that still said covid was "just a flu". I dont care if that was a joke or not, you can't lie to the audience or create confusion in a major event. Every journo who does that must be fired.

Let's try this another way.

Someone kills you by deliberately running you over with a car. Are you ok with that happening to you?
If they are speaking in any way trying to justify his actions or in anyway insinuating he deserved it they are speaking from an angle of left wing lunacy. Most are too far gone and you cannot talk rational too. They look for technicalities to justify their wickedness.

It was not Satire and Kimmel meant every word of it. Kimmel has become a bitter woke activist over the years. He was borderline funny and like Howard Stern became the very people they love to hate.

Here was Kimmels reaction to Trump Winning the Presidency! A Grown man crying on Air!

Rumor is Kimmel is pissed and trying to get out of his contract. The show may really be over for good.

No idea why ABC would want to keep him on contract. His ratings are shit and his political commentary masquerading as comedy obviously isn't what folks watching late night want to see. I mean.....the fact that ABC didn't rebuke the FCC in any way on this whole deal is pretty telling to me. Seems they want nothing to do with the guy and this was the last straw. That's what I see anyway.

To be fair at least Kimmel sticks to his views to the bitter end.

Howard Stern totally changed. He used to be more conservative and his schitck was ragging on losers who seemed like down and out liberal types. And then add in all the fart jokes, sex segments etc.... Then he totally changed to be ultra liberal panderer. No more grilling guests with stupid questions or making fun of how someone looks or acts. It's like a 180.

I read a rumour why he changed was because in order to get into more Hollywood circles his wife wanted, he had to change so he'd become more likeable making his wife feel more accepted. Dont know if that is true though.

I can see that. Hollywood is insanely woke and if you are different you are an outcast. Chris Pratt has gotten a ton of shit for speaking positively about Kirk and even anti wokeness over the years. Hollywood had a big award show recently and to me they are not even famous anymore they are vaguely familiar, but tons of award winners were going on woke rants. It is in California the woke capital of the world.
