Game Informer: "Ryse: Son Of Rome Is As Fun As Dialing Phone Numbers" (ouch)

So is this Lair or Heavenly Sword?

Genji: Days of the Blade.

Crytek... do the right thing. Release Crysis 1 on nextgen, and give PC users Mantle support.

Everyone will be happy.

Not surprising for me. Never looked like anything worthwhile. It was always DR3 that I hoped would turn out well. Remains to be seen I suppose.

This launch is definitely rough when it comes to games. Going to take some time to get a worthwhile and mature catalogue no matter what console you're choosing. I'm thankful to have plenty to play though as I've also got a Wii U this holiday.

Ryse sounds very much like a game that was designed to be easy in order to appeal to more people, and any enjoyment a person manages to derive from the gameplay will come from higher difficulty levels and focusing on maintaining combo, rather than just doing what is necessary to complete a level.

EDIT: Too bad that it'll probably fall into the same trap of being designed around the default difficulty, so the higher difficulties are still not as good as they should be.

Game Informer editor Dan Ryckert has shared his thoughts after spending a couple hours playing Xbox1 Launch Title Ryse: Son of Rome

Not surprised based on the E3 demo.

Doesn't sound good for MS and Crytek. Game Informer can be pretty forgiving by most standards.

Sacrifice to the Gods if old.

I wonder if this is a function of rebranding/repurposing what started off as a pretty on-rails Kinect game as a hardcore game.

So much spin since E3 trying to convince us this game wasn't what we saw at E3.

Turns out it's exactly what saw at E3. This is my surprised face. :|

No way and no thanks. They will mess up the original glorious colors and slap tons of lens flares/dirt on it.

Was anyone expecting anymore other than nice graphics? This game has looked like shit since the horrible reveal. You could easily tell this was a kinect game first.

Ryse was meant to be a Kinect game, so you're right on the bolded.

Anyone who's been interested in this piece of QTE masculine power fantasy garbage represents what's wrong with video game culture, industry & lack of standards

"With my left hand completely off the controller, I was able to slice and dice through tons of enemies simply by inputting the same sequence ad nauseum"

I hate to admit this but I've done this in god of war.

Ever since that E3 reveal I've written this game off as crap. Now just because one person who has actually played it says it sucks, doesn't necessarily mean the game will suck... but I think it will suck. A big fat one.

If the game is as gorgeous as it seems, that alone can warrant a few hours of fun gameplay.

I greatly enjoy good art direction and graphics in games. Its really a pleasurable experience.
