Putting aside the... unpleasantness, the other parts of the episode were pretty awesome too. Bran can control people now, that's pretty neat.

And the Yunkai fight scene was awesome.

Love that moment

Friendzoned!

I knew what was coming due to reading the books, but goddamn. I feel physically sick now, never had that feeling due to a series or movie before.
I'll leave that episode out on when I do a rewatch of the series. FUCK.

The ending was perfect though. Cat dying. Cut to credits, no music.
I was expecting the full version of the Rains of Castamere over the credits, but it was much more effective this way.

I'm pretty glad to be honest. So fucking gruesome but just so raw and uncompromising. You don't fuck with Frey and get off easy after crawling back to him, apparently.

Rather upsetting about what happened to his wife, but Caitlyn was clearly mad with grief so it is what it is.

This Lord of Light is clearly the one people should be worshiping.

Got the ending spoiled because I had to clean up spoilers ITT.

Thanks a lot, book readers >:3

Thank you very much for your hard work.

They're not stopping, but at least they'll be removed for a while.

Also, here's a key scene:

iuvt2TNQ4Tsit.gif

Ygritte is about to go through with her "Die with her man" philosophy.

Jon...has a different approach. He pushes her down, out of the line of fire, then flees. To her, he attacked her, but to him, he made the only decision he could to save her and still get away.

I have to say, the bit that made me think the most is where Cat pleads with Walder to spare Robb, making various promises and vows, and Walder snorts and brushes her off.
This is the moment that is haunting me. When I think about that moment I almost start to cry.
I expected Walder to want revenge for the broken vow but when their ambassadors or whatever said that it was all right I foolishly believed him. He even almost looked fine when he received the Starks.
I'm now on full Dark Willow mode because I hope Daenerys burns him alive in his castle along with that Bolton douche.

Great, last night someone said something cryptic and now he's banned so there goes another spoiler. Seriously book readers, control yourselfs.

Wow I missed that totally

Even though I knew what was going to happen, I dreaded the wedding. As has been the case, HBO outdid the novel in portraying it. The pacing, the music, and even the lighting captured the mood exceptionally well. So many dead for so little gain. Now that hospitality has broken down, what limits to warfare still exist in Westeros? None would be my answer. Accordingly, I think that far worse will happen before things get better.

I'm watching again right now, Frey gives Robb a look right as Roslyn looks at him as well. As if to say, "asshole, I was giving you my prettiest daughter to be queen and you fucking blew your chance"...

and the more I think about it, the more I blame Robb. If had just done his duty, like most people in this land/time, he'd be alive, he'd have a very pretty/sweet wife, his men would be with him, he'd have double the army he does now, Karstark probably wouldn't have betrayed him.

Remember, if he didn't leave with Lady Talisa, most likely his mom wouldn't have sent Brienne to free Jaime and maybe he'd have calmed Karstark down who was further upset that Robb doesn't do his duty. He said it, "you were off gallivanting with that foreign bitch", and "you lost this war the day you married her" etc.

What is love in this world? it's hard to think from a 21st century perspective of true love, etc. But did Lady Catelyn love Ned any less because it was arranged? What good did it ultimately do? Talisa died, her family back in Volantis probably going to be heartbroken. Robb is dead, his mother is dead, his bannermen are dead. Bolton wouldn't have dared betray Robb if he still had the Karstark and Frey army with him.

Maybe I'm just trying to rationalize it all because I can't understand it. Robb and the Stark's dream didn't only die today, but mine as well.

I went crazy with all this shit in my mind of battles, maybe he'll be King, Catelyn and Arya meeting up at Riverrun, maybe trying to rebuild her family etc.

In regards to the bolded: I have to say, I don't know how you can be this invested in the series and go this long without getting spoiled or reading the books. You're walking a hard road.

Just a minor note, but when Jaime was set free Robb wasn't just off on a date, he was riding to a castle allied to the Lannisters to negotiate its surrender and told her to come along when she asked him to get medical supplies for her. Sure it was a surrender that also involved a romantic seaside walk, but you can't be too harsh on him for mixing business with a little pleasure, at least not in this particular instance.

when did The Lannisters make a deal with Bolton to take out Robb??? did i missed that?

You didn't miss it. Do you remember the scene in which Bolton has Jaime and Brienne as prisoners? He's aiming for a deal that will make Tywin look favorably on him.

Jaime basically says "You scratch our back, we'll scratch yours."

yes, i remember that now.

wow!!!!! that son of a bitch!

I could post quotes but I'd be banned for bringing book talk into it. Every episode. Even from last series. It was creepy how people would post about lurking in the non-book thread for the "thrill".

I think you are grossly misrepresenting the thread. Yes, book readers are vicariously living through you guys, so they do enjoy watching your reactions to new events non-maliciously, but that's it. If you had paid any amount of attention to that thread in the lead up to the Red Wedding, you would have seen that the thread was just as terrified, if not more, as this thread was to the prospect of you guys getting spoiled. They were furious when the random spoiler bomb came in and were genuinely trying to figure out the best way to get it removed without revealing anything. This lie that everyone in there just wants to tease, scoff, and spoil the non-readers all day is ridiculous and will only further the already apparently strong bad blood between the two parties.

Am wondering if we'll get any blowback from Littlefinger as Catherine was his love. Though he'll probably just move onto underage Catherine who hasn't had her body destroyed by 4 kids, aka Sansa.

Great, last night someone said something cryptic and now he's banned so there goes another spoiler. Seriously book readers, control yourselfs.

Every week people ask book readers to please, please, PLEASE just stop posting. Not even out of anger, just pure, honest asking from one fan to another. Even the best intentioned book poster messes up eventually and slips up a future reference.

I'll beg if I have to, and not just for me, but for the enjoyment of other fans. Even Bish coming in with his banmower isn't stopping them, which is amazing to me.

They just can't help themselves. It's got to be a psychological thrill at this point, getting pleasure out of being The Priest of Knowledge that these masses need.

Anyways, more good acting:

Voicelessly saying:

"No...you, you didn't..."
"Too late."

Cool plot stuff that happened ASIDE FROM THE EVENT:
  • Bran now has an incredibly rare and useful power, controlling people through Warging.
  • Rickon separates from Bran. There are now no Starks that have stuck together. How will Bran cope without Rickon's firm leadership?
  • Jon and Ygritte have broken up. Seems like she will probably try and kill him unless he has a good excuse.
  • Dany has gained YET ANOTHER army. She's getting a bit unstoppable here. Also, the Jorah, Dario, Grey Worm fight was awesome.
  • Despite seemingly being at the lowest possible level already Jorah sinks even further into the zone.
  • The Hound saved Arya. This seems important, he can no longer ransom her to the Starks or the Lannisters. He's not doing it for money.
  • Bran and Whatshisname are heading towards a castle in the Wall where they can pass through, as are Sam and Gilly. Maybe they'll meet in the middle. Some of these groups at the wall have to meet at some point.

Honestly, I was wondering how non book readers would react to this scene, as well. I think it's the horrible agony that you have to go through when you're reading the book and you can't discuss it with a whole community as you guys can now.

I remember after reading that scene I was stunned for days and felt sick to the stomach..also because I had this looming feeling that something is going to happen and then after while into the wedding I was like "nah, seems all is OK". Martin created that false sense of security and than "BANG". Seriously I think you guys are lucky that you can discuss it.

It's also very interesting to see all the speculations of non-book readers. That is why I love following this thread but hardly post in it (and certainly no spoilers from my side).

[/LIST]

Yes I can see this happening. Would fit in line with GRRMs sick mind to put the physically weakest and most prone to danger/death characters together.

They'll probably end up saving Westeros.

You know the one good thing? That no matter what happens in the books (in the 4 more to go, 2 unreleased), there's no way they will kill kids on TV in the same way this happened. There's certain things that are just way too taboo for TV and that would be one of them.

So all of our hope now resides with Bran and Arya.

So, the Lannisters have won. The North is no more. What is there left? The Stark children are just children. There is no hope. The Lannisters have won

Lol, didn't you see what Catelyn Stark did to that girl who was just but a child? HBO don't give a fuck

Dude! You literally just book spoiled MORE character fates! Even if you don't name names, anyone with 30 seconds of processing time will be able to go through the list.

I...just...wow. I guess it really is impossible for bookreaders to simply not comment, even with ban threats.

You win. I give up.

Huh? I am not a book reader. I did spoil myself on a couple of things reading the wiki pedia, but I don't know a lot of the fates. I was saying no matter how the books go, whether the old or new ones, there's no way they'll kill main characters kids on TV.

Man, am I not allowed to post in this thread my theories?

Chill :) I think you read into that post a bit too much.

edit:

Whats the Hound and Aryas direction now? A bit of deep and emotional talk together which brings them closer and then go back to the Brotherhood?

fake edit: Oh shit just totally realized that if Robb and Catelyn bodies are remained intact couldn't Arya convince Thoros of Myr to bring them back to life? Would be one hell of a twist! I bet theres some clause where they have to have not been dead for longer than a minute or something though :(

You're extremely paranoid. That post spoiled nothing at all.

they killed the Lannister kids that were taken prisoners a couple of episodes ago, although that was off-screen (and the orphans at the farm, also off-screen). But I agree with you, I think Bran, Rickon, Dany and Sansa are safe for now. Can't imagine Jon dying anytime soon either, but he's probably going to meet the remaining Crows who killed Mormont next episode

Legit shook.

As someone who doesn't read the books, this is why I want to avoid spoilers like the plague.... to experience moments like that.

I don't actually remember Catelyn killing any girls? I remember the Lannister boys being killed but that was off screen and they weren't main characters.

Can't imagine Jon dying anytime soon either, but he's probably going to meet the remaining Crows who killed Mormont next episode

Well there was still a pretty big army left at Castle Black right? Don't you think they would be suspicious of crows coming back without the commander?

Whoa, it's on HBO Go starting right as it airs? I don't have to wait until it's over any more?!
Just to make sure you get a direct reply: YES.

I don't have to watch over crappy SD analog anymore. (We don't pay for a digital cable box. Anyway...)

I watched it during first broadcast on HBO Go on my tablet. Was beautiful, and terrifying.

I was waiting for this gif. That look was so perfect. Amazing.
If a variant of this is not used during a surprise exclusive reveal at E3 over on the gaming side, I will be very disappointed.

Put Kaz's face and Mattrick's face in it, and you've got gold.

eh, they can just say he died in the battle with the white walkers. The only one that knows what really happened is Sam

Eh, even wiki knowledge gives away stuff, you know? Can you be sure when it's info that should be shared, like what you said about how the kids die? That's not something we want to know. I apologize for assuming you were a book reader but you have to admit that people just can't stop doing it.

Anyways, change of topic, remember this scene:

QGIoIpUl.jpg

How far away it seems now, the trio will never meet again.

After coming in to this show knowing the ending to the first series, I finally experienced the shock of a finale with a similar ending. Oh god its painful.

Or the fact that Snow is not wearing black.

lol...so true. Hope e3 will delivers.

They make it pretty clear it has to be done really fast on the spot. The Lannisters probably want the heads on spikes.
