Haha, I'm jealous you get to go through this for the first time. My S/O had to endure the Red Wedding last year and I will never forget the look of disbelief on her face.

Yeah... now I'll know how the book readers felt when reading this thread back when it was happening on TV. I'm not sure what I'll be watching more... my girlfriend reactions or what's happening on the screen. :p

Kave_Man

come in my shame circle
I quoted you 4 times :lol Did you really break an Ikea cup and are you still salty?

feelsgoodman.jpg You guys buy the blu-ray?

Not a cup a table. I flipped one of those small ass IKEA coffee tables, popped one of the legs off. Easy to fix though.

Shouldn't you be used to that feeling being a Browns fan?

I kid, I kid.

How dare you!

I'm looking to purchase the first 3 seasons blu-ray/dvd/digital combo. I can get all 3 new from Amazon for about $110. $40 each for the first 2 seasons and $30 for the 3rd. Should I bite at this price? Or do these go on sale often?

Prices are low right now because the 3rd season blu ray just came out. Those are probably the best prices you're going to get for the foreseeable future.

well not really...yet

All Seasons were $30 last week, so you already missed the best prices.

Well, I'm now all caught up with all three seasons. What's my best option for watching S4? I don't have cable and don't plan on getting it for one show, as great as it might be. Has HBO gotten more reasonable yet? Can I subscribe to just GO or something?

No, of course not. It's never going to be that simple, is it.

They allow you to subscribe to GO through select ISP's. Check, but I wouldn't hold my breath, I don't think it's widespread at this point.

This show is the hardest to wait for. It was bad enough waiting a week for the next episode to air but to wait almost a year for the next season after so many huge events fucked with our minds? Damn cruel...

The worst part is that I'll probably have to wait another 3 years just for any sort of justice to be served for the Starks. I'm sure we'll change kings before that and many other crazy shit will go down, but true justice probably won't come up for a long time if ever. I've always thought that redemption will come from the most unlikely people though. The people we think are capable of doing something end up failing while the young people we write off after years of suffering will be the ones to most likely do something awesome for the viewers because it's unexpected. Then again, Martin keeps showing us how life isn't fair so who knows if they'll succeed but I think they will since there has to be SOME sort of payoff in the end and what's better than justice from underrated people that could grow up to be huge badasses?

It's one of the few shows that actually emotionally affects me which is why I adore it so much even if I hate it at times due to the twisted story. The only critique I really have is the over-abundance of nudity which I never thought would be a bad thing, but it takes up time that could be better served elsewhere if you took out a small percentage of them.

Ouch. speaking of that, do you happen to have a coach you're willing to trade? Our front office likes doing ridiculous things and then washing their hands of the mess a year later. :D

Do you know anyone who has HBO? Maybe suggest viewing parties?

FS still hasn't shipped my Greyjoy packaging :( I wanna rewatch S3 already.

My friend has the book series, I'm thinking about getting it also.

Do it, do yourself a favor. Reading the Red Wedding is one of those things that make you feel really, really shocked.

I would bang a hot farmer!
For anyone interested in making those posters into avatars you should know that the following are already being used by other posters.

Joffrey
Margaery
Oberyn Martell
Jaime
Ygritte
Tywin
Littlefinger
The Hound

But that still leaves 10 others.

Truth. Any award he hasn't won for his work on Game of Thrones has been rendered illegitimate. Dance, and all the Lannister actors collectively, are too god damn good. Everyone should root for House Lannister for the sake of the show's quality.

Just finished season 3! I don't mean to come here to stir up shit, but I called
Rob dying back during season 2. Even better yet, I called how he would die. Not necessarily at a wedding, but I knew from the Freys. And you know what sucks about figuring something out so damn early? It makes every episode with Rob feel like a "who gives a shit?" kind of a thing. I'm glad it is over and done with. I liked him, but come on...this show better throw me a twist at some point. Or stop making things so painfully obvious
.

OKay. I'm done coming off like a pretentious fuck. Had to vent.

And to throw in my vote---the Lannisters make this show. Every. Single. One.

I really hope after this season, they get back to 1 season = one book-ish. Though I enjoyed season 3 more than 2, it felt like it dragged a whole Hell of a lot.
Really? What parts do you think they dragged out?

Also if they went back to 1 book= 1 season they'd have to cut out a hell of a lot of material I mean these books are over a 1000 pages long ACOK was 950 and they already had to make cuts on Arya's and Jons plot lines from what I heard.

I don't know...I'm trying to think how, and I can't quite come up with any examples now. What I'm realizing as I ponder is that there are simply characters I don't like, therefore every time they are on screen I feel the show is dragging. I've never read the books, but I feel like GoT will get exponentially better as more people die, so the ones I like can get focused screen time. Of course, this is pretty damn objective as I'm sure many I don't like others love.

Oop...thought of one! Stormborn buying the Unsullied. This story starts in episode 1, we don't see anything in episode 2, then we get a bit more in episode 4, then finally at the end of 4 she purchases them and slaughters the slaver. For me, it took way too long. And it seemed even slower by the fact that the conclusion seemed obvious. It drove me crazy how much the slaver called her a slut/whore/bitch, whatever. If he only would've done it here and there, it wouldn't have been a problem. But he did it sooo much it became obvious, "Okay....she knows what the Hell he is saying". And the moment she says she'll trade a dragon, I don't think a single person (maybe I'm wrong?) thought she would actually get rid of a dragon. Her killing the slaver seemed like an obvious conclusion. So in the end, its a combination of predictable threads and the time it takes to play them out.

Please note that any teaser/promo/trailer discussion should be spoiler tagged in this thread. Everything else that has already aired (i.e. plot details through Season 3) are fair game and shouldn't be under spoiler tags.

In addition, book readers should use the other thread for discussion.

Thanks for your help.

Awesome. I'm always paranoid about spoilers. I removed my tags. Thank ya!

That makes sense.

Although, now that Jamie's back he could withdraw from the Kingsguard due to his injury and marry Sansa instead.
Yeah but he wants to use both of his male heirs to control multiple houses. By having Tyrion marry Sansa, the Lannisters could control Winterfell some day.

Random question. Is the show shot with film or is it digital? Wondering what resolution it is and if we'll ever get a 4k version a few years down the line.

Digital. If I remember correctly, they actually just got their hands on a 6k camera for any upcoming seasons after 4.

Bleeding Cool
It was also announced this week that Game of Thrones will be getting two fancy new cameras for the upcoming season. The appropriately named RED Dragon is RED’s latest 6K camera and comes encased in a carbon fiber shell, making it a pound lighter than the RED Epic. The two RED Dragons that will be used for Game of Thrones will be the first two used on any film or TV series, with the camera not actually available to buy until October. When it is released it will be priced at $50 000 and available on a built-to-order basis only.

It's always digital, although season 2 onwards has a grain to it that the first season didn't. If fooled me until I read they were using RED.

Less than a month to go now.

Nice to see some people have already made those character posters into avatars. I went with Sansa because after a rewatch of all three seasons she's really blossomed into one of my favourite characters and I hope she gets some revenge soon.

She's had so many influences from people like Cersei, Tyrion, Littlefinger, Olenna, etc., I imagine she won't be a fighter like Arya but I hope she will still get some shit done by becoming a major political figure. She needs to realise how much power she has by simply being the true heir to Winterfell.

I'm really excited for this. As funny as it was to watch Robb Stark fail at waging war, I'm ready for more of the focus to shift towards other characters. Namely the rightful king, King Stannis, the Brotherhood and the Lannisters. And Arya of course.

The lack of Thoros or Beric in the trailers has me worried, though.
