Oh yeah almost forgot about that.

I felt kinda bad for Theon, especially with him acknowledging that Ned was the true father he always had.

But yeah why break him out and then bring him back again? I'm pretty sure that guy ended up killing those dudes who came after Theon in the forest. Seems a bit much to just recapture him again.

I'm sure that guy has a motive behind all of that.

Theon's captors have said who they are?
Sorry I think I am confusing them with the group who is holding Jamie. The show is jumping around so much. I could have sworn one of their captor's either Jamie or Theon's had the flayed man crest. In any case it looked like that guy did it on purpose to break his spirit and he was with the group of captors.

Edit: Just checked, sorry I was confused they have Jamie: http://youtu.be/9yc6O6w9mdA?t=7m4s. I am not sure who has Theon then.

Hello GOT thread - so I watched the first season of this show when it was first going, but I haven't yet read any of the books. I decided to save the next seasons until after I got through the books, but I've barely made any progress (only on around page 100 of the first book) - should I keep holding off of the show, or should I just watch it now alongside the rest of the world?

To figure out what happened to Bran.

It was such a fantastic episode with an incredible ending. I liked how Brienne was interested in Jaime's well-being. Never expected the rebellion of the Night's Watch and liked how Sam escaped with that mother. Although I have conflicting feelings with Margaery whom I'd like to be queen so that she and Sansa remain alive but I also want Joffrey dead.
But above else, I loved Daenerys telling the slaver that she knew his language. How she ordered the unsullied ones to kill their oppressors and then proceeded to free them. And all the unsullied ones actually following her unlike the dothraki should be a huge confidence boost for her. That ending music is fantastic it wouldn't sound out of place in a Metroid Prime game.

Great episode. Seems to be the kind of turning point in a lot of these stories. Hopefully that means the pace picks up from here on.

Now that Dany has her army I wonder if/when she's going to get it over to Westeros. If she doesn't yet, I wonder what'll stop her or what else she'll gather on the way. I suppose she could be just waiting for the dragons to get older by now, but she did seem to be in a hurry earlier in the series.

I think it was a test to find out if he was truly converted to iron born or too influenced by the Starks. Probably failed with his regret for what he did.

But he was already beneath the dungeon. I feel like going back to the room was inevitable.

Does each book=a season of the show?

Season 1 = book 1. Season 2 = book 2. Season 3 is roughly the first half of book 3 and season 4 is going to roughly be the second half of book 3. There are elements of the other books sprinkled in here and there this season and the lines will blur even further next season apparently.

I'm confused by the Night Watch stuff. I understand killing that psycho, but why kill your leader and then start fighting each other?

Also kinda disappointed there wasn't a Jon Snow update this episode.

As many have said before, Nights Watch is made up of a bunch of people that range from thieves to bastards. It seemed obvious that a lot of those bad seeds wouldn't become loyal to a group they're forced to join. My take on it: Those bad seeds had enough after all of the events that had happened and they just decided to snap. They were tired of orders and there wasn't much standing in their way to become free men. After Commander Mormont died, the only people left to combat the bad seeds were the people that became loyal to the Nights Watch like that one guy that hung out with Sam.

Again, that's just my take on it.

Quite a few unexpected turns. Especially the one with the Night Watch.

Which kind of sucked. What happened to the two guys that are friends with Sam and Snow? Did one die?

I don't know their names but my brother and I had names for those guys: Fake CM Punk and Beard guy. I didn't see what happened to Fake CM Punk but Beard guy charged towards one of the bad guys and started fighting him. I don't remember if their fate was shown.

Maybe they think that Craster has some kind of deal with the White Walkers and they hope they can do the same in order to stay alive.

I believe the armies of both Joffrey, Stannis, and Rob number in the tens of thousands. But still they are not as well trained as the Sullied and have dragons either.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Krasnys at one point mention there being 40,000 unsullied? Or is 8,000 the number.

I don't know why 40 is stuck in my brain. Sure looked like a lot more than 8,000 soldiers.

YES YES YES

How does Khaleesi not win this shit? she has the army, she has the dragons, she's a boss now.

I fear that Khaleesi may one day have to take on the white walkers and other supernatural stuff that I am sure are found beyond the Wall. Probably won't happen until S5, if ever, but should it ever come to fruition, I hope HBO gives the show the budget for a CG battle.

Daenerys Targaryen - stone cold momma.

No shit man. No. fuckin'. shit. So goddamn badass. I love her... so much now. I bet Jorah and Selmy felt so stupid after they watched that shit go down. You guys should know better she wouldn't sell her children. Good god.

This episode was AMAZING. Excellent action to contrast the info-gathering eps so far this season. I'm super-psyched to see what the Lady of Thorns has up her sleeves; 's gonna be good, I just know it. Heh heh heh heh omg. So good. <3 <3

Also can we raise mother Tyrell to the awesome tier. She just doesn't take shit from no one and does it in such a way you can't help but smile.
Granny (Olenna) Tyrell is highest tier IMO. I'm warming up to Dany but you can only have one person at awesome tier. It's okay though, I think I'm ready to put Dany and Margaery up to the second tier even though I was bored of them last season to be honest.

I would love to see Granny Tyrell versus Tywin Lannister have a scene or two. Would probably be amazing.

She only needed 5 minutes to completely own the episode.

No shit. Damn she is awesome. My favorite, by far. I need to re-watch the beginning so I can't add much from that. Except I sort of felt sorry for Jamie and had to remind myself that he is an incestuous child-maimer. Even so, they've already taken his hand and made him carry it on his chest, they didn't have to humiliate him as well.

That guy might be up to something. He probably wanted his partners dead for a reason.
Honestly, with the look on that guy's face i thought he was just torturing the shit out of Theon for fun. Maybe he needed info on the boys but he loved putting him back on the X.
They said the bolton symbol is the flayed man on that X so he probably do quite a bit of it.

Guys.

I'm in love with The Khaleesi. I want her to take the Iron Throne so goddamn badly. She's fucking BAD-ASS.

Thissssssss! What an epic ending to the episode. If she doesn't take the Throne I'll be really disappointed. She's just perfect in every way and the Dragons and Unsullied are awesome. Fuck...

The writing was top notch tonight too. One of my favorites for dialogue between all the different characters working angles.
The back and forth between granny and the bald guy was so great, so witty and sharp, expertly written!

Wow, that ending scene was awesome! Even though the outcome seemed predictable the execution was no less flawless to me. So good. :)

I loved the way this episode was filmed, it seemed so much closer to a movie than a tv show.

I felt the same way, like I was watching a movie. This was probably a 20 million dollar episode. I hear they're around 10-15 mil each, right? Incredible.

One question about Dany's army: I get the feeling they have to cross a large body of water? How is she going to get 8k guys on boats? That would take a ton of boats.

Also, what about food? water? I know the slaver said the Unsullied can handle terrible conditions but they need food, right? 8000 men, how are they going to get this...

Does each book=a season of the show?

The first two seasons were, for the most part. But this season is half of the third book, plus some stuff from the fifth. The next season will be the other half, plus presumably more stuff from other books.

Basically as the books get bigger, seasons will be split to cover the material.

I too was disappointed with the nights watch until I thought about it. The true honest guys like Jon, Qhorin HalfHand, Lord Commander Mormont these are the guys who would have probably stood and fought with the white Walkers and died.

He took 300 of his best men and less then like 25 survived. They are cold, hungry, and angry. Angry that they're north of the wall when people in the south are enjoying life. Angry that a shitload of their friends died.

All that's left with the commander are newer people, and they haven't built the integrity required of the nights watch. This would never have happened had Crastor been a nicer man.

So it's not necessarily they were thieves, but that Mormont is stuck with a bunch of bad people fed up. Sort of like how Joffrey got a piece of dung thrown at his face.

Pancakes

hot, steaming, as melted butter slips into the cracks, drizzled with sticky sweet syrup OH GOD
Holy shit, that ending. Probably my favorite episode yet.

I'm worried about Sansa. Manipulated by Littlefinger, manipulated by Margery, manipulated by everyone. I was literally shouting at my screen when the sister moment came up.
