I'm kinda wondering when anyone in Westeros will get wind of the fact that there are DRAGONS about. I can't recall anyone mentioning them thus far, even though it's fairly obvious Dany has them. She's not keeping them a secret or anything. And peeps and King's Landing and Dragonstone know Dany is alive, so why don't they know about/seem worried that she has one or three?

Or maybe I missed something? I'm guessing if they don't know yet, they'll certainly find out soon...

It's hard to get a grasp of scale from the maps, but Qarth and Astapor are literally thousands of miles away from Westeros. Word travels, but not that fast. I would assume most people would dismiss it as tall tales and rumors as dragons have been extinct for hundreds of years. Seeing is believing.

People also say Robb Stark can turn into a wolf, why would anyone actually believe she has dragons I guess.

Also yeah there's really no reason for Book Readers to post here at all. Read the thread if you want, just don't contribute. If book people keep posting here it'll become useless.

I'm not sure you can say that they don't believe it based on this. It's just that they have more immediate problems to deal with.

Yeah.

They are right about the dragons not really being a problem until they are grown, but then they have no idea she just managed to snag herself a sizable army through her wits and charm.

. Myopic opinion or no it appears selfish on the part of the book reader/poster

In fact I have an example on the last two pages alone that I have inferred something about the future plot of a character by a book reader just giving an opinion

Call them out. Message a mod. Message them.

That wink wink nudge nudge bullshit is stupid, but you're getting that from people who are feigning ignorance towards reading the books, so they're going to be in here regardless.

I just want to circlejerk about how awesome cgi dragons are with a few folks who aren't quite as cynical. Quit trying to harsh my gig.

The copy/paste army too! Hopefully they didn't dump most of their budget for that scene since I really want to see the army with Dany during the rest of the season as well.

Why not just put "SPOILERS AND HINTS = BAN" in the header and have someone who visits the thread regularly mod it? That way there is isn't a ridiculous war between bookers and TVers... Just swift justice minus a derail.

Anywho... Question: Who is the old man who joined Danny at the beginning of the season? And how did the wildings know who John Snow "The Stark Bastard" was when he met with them in the tent? I missed those two details.

Goddamn, I was really starting to like the Brotherhood without Banners, then it turns out they're Lord of Light loonies. :( I really don't like Melisandre, her voice just grates. Whether they know about her or not doesn't matter, she's connected and she's just a crazy fanatic.

Why do you think the brotherhood are loonies?

Marg is schooling everybody so far, although I can't help but wonder if her grandmother approves of her marriage, given her words about mothers always trying to instill some common sense on her children and failing.

At first I was going to say your suspicions are unfounded but thinking over the fact she also married Renly and that turned into a disaster I'm thinking she may not be as supportive of her daughter's methods as I originally thought.

Poor girl has been living like a princess for all of her life and now she's been thrown into a pit of snakes. I actually feel bad for her. Also, I wonder what happened with Joffrey's sister.

Don't forget Joffrey also has a brother, but they're unimportant. I wonder what happened to Arya's wolf? I'm wondering when she will come back to save her ass.

He's one of the few (the only?) "loyal" wildling out there. An outpost that far inside the big north must be very valuable for the Night's Watch. He kept the place safe, fed the troops and offered shelter while keeping the white walkers out of the zone with sacrifices. They couldn't just kill him.

I would've killed that bastard just for creating more white walkers. Just by himself he bred 98 of them who in turn helped "enlist" more into their ranks over time.

The only reason they had to support him was that they didn't think they could've held onto that location from White Walkers for as long as he did with his methods.

Dunno about that. Apparently she only has a tiny amount of Dothraki left, and most of them are not even real Dothraki but former slaves. The strong ones ran away or died out in the desert.

I was talking about the horde that left her after Drago died.

You've never read io9 reviews? They are vastly more entertaining than what you get from other sites except for Television Without Pity.

Ser Barristan Selmy. This guy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=xujehgD_lz0#t=49s

Edit: he is also the man Jaime talked about to his cousin in captivity. A painter who only painted with red, I think he described him.

And how did the wildings know who John Snow "The Stark Bastard" was when he met with them in the tent? I missed those two details.

Jon told Ygritte that he was Stark's bastard when she was his captive and Ygritte told the other wildlings when they took Jon captive so that they wouldn't kill him.

It's in the OP and the mod on call is ThoseDeafMutes

People just need to chill and PM him if they suspect trouble.

From 2 episodes ago what was the line the incest bastard up North said?

Something like "tell her to bite the wood or she'll bite my fist" something like that. I can't remember and it's really bothering me.

Just chiming in on the whole hero/villain/shades of grey thing.

I don't think the series is meant to be looked at in back and white, but there is at least one very, very obvous bad guy here, and that is Joffery. It's weird to me having people defending him because he's a victim of circumstance or whatever. Regardless of him being the product of incest, which in the GOT universe has a chance to make you a fucking loon, he's still an evil bastard and I want to see Robb or Sansa shank him.

I don't think Jamie is "evil". I think he's over priviliged. The speech that both his captor and Brienne gave him should have cut deep, because he's lived his entire life under the name Lannister and hasn't had to experience how the other side lives. Maybe he'll come out of this whole thing a better person. Maybe he'll even stop fucking his sister!

Additionally, House Stark and Tyrion Lannister are definately what I'd consider "heroes". While honor isn't something that seems to keep you alive in Westeros, they've stuck to their guns and done the "right" thing for the most part. House Stark gets fucked over for being decent people. So does Tyrion. :(

I can't wait to see him get his revenge on Cersei.

Well, we can safely assume that'd be a crock of shit at this point :p

The Eyrie has a pretty large army and it's location makes it pretty much un-siegable (except by dragons I guess).

If he marries Cat's sister and has Sansa at his side, he would have the allegiance of the Tullys, Starks and the Arryns, which as Varys put it, is pretty scary.

If you recall Little Finger's finger bang monologue from S1 or 2 (I forget) he talks about growing up with no titles or honor and being the laughing stock of priveledged a-holes. When asked what he wants, he replied, "Everything!"

I think Varys is correct is his assessment that Little Finger would burn the Seven Kingdoms to the ground just so he could be king of the ashes. Varys doesn't ally with anyone in particular, but like the Brotherhood without Banners, doesn't want to see Westeros in ruins.

It was made clear in season 1 (in his conversation with Littlefinger) that Varys does have allies and possibly ulterior motivates.

Also, I am a book reader and I do read this thread from time to time. I make an active effort not to spoil anything, and I understand that such a thing is very annoying. I get annoyed by people saying things like "Granny Tyrell" and "Dragon Lady" when they could very easily look up the names of the characters on this thing called the internet. But it's not worth stressing over.

Ah, I see! Thanks for clearing that up. For a moment I thought the Wildlings knew Bengen Stark, but yes, I forgot Jon told Ygritte last season.

And wow, I thought Selmy just left in disgust never to be heard from again. I wonder if he'll tell Dany that Eddard had nothing to do with late King Roberts order to have her assassinated (that is, if he even knows of this)?

Poor Jamie, just goes to show not all the Northmen are good guys... And poor Theon, just when he started to repent and feel remorse for those orphans and called Ned his father.

And then that Pyschopath kills his own allies to rescue him only to bring him back to the same place, the same castle he rode his horse from? Wouldn't Theon notice they were heading towards the same castle in the same direction and general area he fled from? And they were willing to kill their own men to save him only to bring Theon back and...break his spirits?

Fucking psychological torture, man. These guys are assholes for that kind of abuse, they did all that to screw with him. Of course I have a feeling that cunt who led him back was rogue, since he told the guards that Theon killed the others, implying that they hadn't planned the escape or for those guards to die, they'd probably kill him if they knew he killed their own men.

Those mutinous night watch bastards, I won't feel bad at all when the wildlings slaughter them now. Oathbreakers killing their leader. Kind of funny that Dany's uncle served in the night watch under Mormont but Jorah served under Dany across the narrow sea.

I hope Jorah finds out his dad died but the traitors will probably be long dead by then. It will probably take many seasons before Dany crosses the narrow sea anyway, I wish they had more than ten episode seasons, this is only half of book 3!

You could swap Theon with Jaime there, and back in season one people would have called you crazy. Not so much anymore!

I've always liked and sympathized with Theon more than I have Jamie.

And after last week's episode, I felt really, really bad for him. "My real father died in Kings Landing. I made a choice. And it was the wrong one."

I do have to admit that I laughed when that dude ended up bringing him RIGHT BACK to where he was though. That's some next level mind-fuckery right there. That's a glimpse into the mind of the new troll, ladies and gentlemen. It's just so demented I couldn't help but laugh at it.

...and that, kids, was the first time I sucked a dick for crack
I saw Dany's plan from a mile away. Not a chance in hell would a dragon ever obey someone that isn't dragonblood.

And the whole language thing was obvious too because of how vulgar Kraznys was, they made it a point to make you feel so upset that eventually you start to think "man, I bet you she understands every word he's saying, but using it to her advantage pretending she doesn't"

In any case, none of that is a slight against the episode. I was pumped as fuck when it unveiled the way I imagined it would.

Also, regarding Sansa and Littlefinger. I have a sneaking suspicion that he will not get her way with her. The exchange between Tyrion and his girlfriend accusing him of liking Sansa was odd and peculiar. It didn't seem like it was just thrown in there for humor or giggles. That was definitely a foreshadowing element disguised as a joke made to throw the average viewer off.

They do it often on Boardwalk Empire, as well.

Varys seemed to be pretty keen on Sansa and Loras Tyrell. He didn't come right out and say it, but it was pretty obvious the direction they were going in. Later, Margaery just comes right out and puts the thought into her head.

I don't think Littlefinger is going to get Sansa, but I wonder if Margarey and Sansa's conversation was due to the previous conversation between Varys and the grandmother Tyrell (I forget her name at the moment), or if they were just both on the same wavelength.

I imagine marrying Loras would make Sansa pretty happy. Not so much Loras, but unlike Renly, he'd be able to... um. Well. Do his duty.

I've always liked Jamie more than Theon. But I like both really.

Episode 1 -> Sure Jamie pushes a kid out the window, but Theon wanted to kill the direwolf puppies. Puppies! He's a fucking monster.

In his defense, Direwolves really aren't supposed to be pets. (Wait, that wasn't why he wanted to kill them, was it? God, it's been forever. I need to rewatch season 1.)

With that said, I'm sure Robb is pretty thankful for having Grey Wind with him on the battlefield.

I keep hoping Arya's direwolf will find it's way back to her somehow. :(

Ned thought killing them would the merciful thing to do since their mother was dead. Theon gleefully grabbed his knife and they would've been dead if it wasn't for Bran and Jon changing Ned's mind.

Yeah. That's what it was. I remember now. Still not as bad as pushing Bran out the window though!

Still feel the same way. I'm still not compelled to feel bad for him and the situation he's brought upon himself.

I love seeing Jaime broken and hopeless. It makes the episode for me. I hope he gets back to good ol' Dad and gets disowned since he lost his sword hand and is no longer of any value as a human being.

I suspect for the same reasons they don't care about whats happening north of the Wall. They are to preoccupied in their own petty squabbles for power/respect, and consider all the stories and reports of whitewalkers and dragons to be hogwash.

Remember in S1 the way Tyrion responded to the Nightwatch guy when he told him about sightings of the whitewalkers? He basically shrugged it off and called it bullshit. I would suspect that same dismissive attitude is what keeps the rest of them from taking the whole dragon/targaryen thing seriously.

Heh, dude, Maester Aemon is a centenarian. He's probably more like Dany's great-great or even great-great-great uncle.

I will say that book readers are haunting this thread, and every instance of people 'I'm just speculating here, look how smart I am!' and actually posting spoilers is going to be reported.

In the first season, Ned Stark sent him on a mission to capture/kill the Mountain for raiding the Riverlands.
