as a non book reader, is there a good detailed full story of the mad king era online or maybe an app?

On each DVD release, there is an animated history of Westeros about an hour each.

Here is Season 1's https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSuXBVv4ppY

The rest of the years are also on there.

5:07 The Children of the Forest, The First Men, and the Andals (Bran Stark)
7:56 The Age of Heroes (Bran Stark)
10:42 The Old Gods and the New (Catelyn Stark & Bran Stark)
13:44 The History of the Night's Watch (Jeor Mormont)
18:36 The History of the Night's Watch (Maester Luwin)
21:28 The History of the Night's Watch (Tywin Lannister)
23:39 The Order of Maesters (Maester Luwin)
26:13 Valyria and the Dragons (Viserys Targaryen)
29:44 The Field of Fire (Viserys Targaryen)
32:30 The Field of Fire (Robb Stark)
34:18 Mad King Aerys (Robert Baratheon)
37:42 Mad King Aerys (Maester Luwin)
40:24 Mad King Aerys (Tywin Lannister)
43:22 Robert's Rebellion (Viserys Targaryen)
46:04 Robert's Rebellion (Robert Baratheon)
49:16 The Sack of King's Landing (Viserys Targaryen)
52:27 The Sack of King's Landing (Robert Baratheon)
55:28 The Sack of King's Landing (Maester Luwin)
58:30 The Sack of King's Landing (Tywin Lannister)

1:01:26 The History of House Stark (Bran Stark & Robb Stark)
1:03:37 The History of House Lannister (Tywin Lannister)
1:07:23 The History of House Targaryen (Viserys Targaryen)
1:10:28 The History of House Arryn (Catelyn Stark)
1:12:30 The History of House Baratheon (Robert Baratheon)

If you just want about the mad king, just watch the highlighted parts. But I recommend watching all 5 seasons worth. It's very good.

I won't be able to watch the episode until 2 hours after it airs. Can't believe Season 6 is finally here

Last weekend got in a binge for all seasons, and boy did it marked me. Never really cared for the series before (or the books, and i think that's not gonna change) but now i'm hooked to it and waiting for tonight premiere.

So, thinking about watching GoT legit this year to avoid the headaches of other methods. What's the easiest, cheapest legal way to watch it?

HBO Now if you don't have cable. Otherwise you could just subscribe to HBO

HBO is also free this weekend if you have cable

Awwww yes hypehypehypehype

I'm actually very interested for the Bran story line. The one eyes raven stuff was getting really interesting...and then the season hiatus happened..

HBO Now is apparently "exclusive" to Xbox One and Xbox 360 for an undisclosed amount of time. No PS4 version.

So this is the first season my region gets HBO Go (TMN) ... does the episode still get released per your time zone or should it be available at 9 EDT? That would be an hour earlier than it's normally on TV here.

what's the difference between that and GO? I heard there was free streaming this weekend, is that true?

hbo now is for people without cable
hbo go is for people with cable who subscribe to hbo through their cable provider

only difference. HBO is free this weekend for people with cable

I missed out on Season 5 so I subscribed to HBO Now with the free trial and binged through it in two days. Now I'm ready to rock for Season 6. I'll probably keep HBO Now until the season is over and cancel it.

In 2016 they still make it so complicated to watch the series globally. I mean stop selling your licenses to garbage sky amd let me sub to yor service for like 10 bucks a month.

Yeah, i think in Canada, you're pretty much forced to be subbed to a local cable/TV provider THEN pay another sub to be able to legally watch HBO. Nothing like HBO Go or Now for us.

Had to ask my parents to sub to HBO(since I don't have cable TV, no way I'm gonna pay 30-40$/month on top of HBO sub) & share me their login info, so I could log into their cable provider website to watch HBO. And HBO isn't even live on their fucking website, so I have to wait for them to upload the episodes... Ugh.

I made it to this point without seeing any previews besides a quick commercial during a playoff game last week. I am super pumped for this!

Really really good

Got my Free HBO Now trial started!

And once that expires, my wife signs up for a free month.

Should get 10 free episodes this season total - assume that's the whole season, correct?

Wait is HBONow only available through apps, it's not browser-based?

You can watch it on whatever you want to.

But you have to sign up for it through the HBO Now APP, through Android, iOS, Amazon, etc...

It sets up the free trial and subscription based on one of those accounts "Google Play, iTunes, Amazon, etc..."

But after you sign up, you can open up https://www.hbonow.com/ on any web browser device you want and you just log in using the email/pass you created for the service. (Or just use the app on your phones/tablets/whatever)

Yup, it's so ridiculous in Canada.

You want to watch other HBO shows on Canadian TMN/HBOgo? Sopranos, The Wire? Well fuck you because we don't offer most of them, you can get CraveTV for that.

The episodes usually go up about within 30 minutes after the live air ends. FYI, in case you didn't know.

rewatching season 5 in preparation. I think my favorite line meains "The dwarf lives until we find a cock merchant." The deadpan delivery is great

Almost done with my S5 blu-ray rewatch. The stuff I remember people complaining about has not bothered me at all this time. So hype for tonight
