Game of Thrones spinoff about Jon Snow is in the works

Wonder if it'll be him in therapy realizing he fucked his aunt

Like any other franchise, including Star Wars and Marvel, none of it matters if the writers aren't up to par. TV shows are literally starting become a coinflip of quality again due to the current selection of writing talent. I mean in all aspects too which includes the much ignored action writing which is severely lacking today.

Sometimes scenes can look cool at first glance, but that same scene is actually really dumb when you simply think about it for a minute.

Too many creatives are going for the cool over the common(sense). It needs to stop.

I can handle a badly directed yet well written and well acted tv show, but it's really tough for me to enjoy a really well directed show with terrible writing. When common sense is taken out of the show it takes me out of the experience.

I can't wait to see all of these GoT spin-off series flop. It's Lost and Mass Effect all over again, when you fuck up the ending to that extent there's just no way to care about any other story in that universe (and in the case of GoT they fucked up a lot more than just the ending, there were multiple seasons worth of nonsense).

Executive pitching spin off show to Kit:

Detective show called Whodunnit.
History show called Kings an Qweens.
Quiz show called the North remembers.
Weather show called winter is coming.
Skating show called How could you Olly?

they will need to reshoot the final two seasons first.
Jon Snow wakes up after being resurrected, and the horrid visions of seasons 6, 7 and 8 were nothing but a bad death dream.

Edit: I'd be done for a comedy, where he has to make sure none of the events from 6, 7 & 8 take place.

Yesterday I saw a 2 minute clip of Joffrey and Tyrion sitting around and being mean to each other and those 2 minutes were better than all of season 7 and 8 combined. Just give us good writing and good acting, we don't need visual spectacle.

This isn't a spin off, it's a direct continuation of the story, right? It's not like there is a main Got show with bran and tyrion still on the air. ANYTHING that picks up the world going forward, especially with a main character, is a sequel, not a spinoff.

I think John Snow was possibly the least interesting character from GoT. I only watched the show and didn't read the book though. No thanks on this.

this sounds like a terrible idea and I'm kinda sick of trying to be hopefully optimistic about this shit anymore…

Hard pass. I'm sticking to not watching any of this extra bullshit until GRRM finishes the next 2 books, which will never ever happen.

I want a Littlefinger prequel with him doing comedy stand up in Seinfeld style.

"Whats the deal with Shansha?"

Forget continuity, let's ruin another beloved franchise, David Be Less Wise and David Bass Biscoff have already set it on fire.

The main story is over.

It's a spin-off.

Anything to stop GRRM not writing the book people are far past caring about, him the most.

Here's an idea George, write a medieval cook-book. Fuck knows you drool when you write those boring parts.

I was very disappointed to read this. I get the sentiment behind sticking by your creatives, but he's a tv man himself. He should know that the storytelling was butchered towards the end. The Dany twist should be one of the best twists in tv history but the way it was told was bs. Same thing with Jaime and Cersei. I get that people dont change and Jaime going back to her after all the character development hes had in the last 8 seasons is supposed to be tragic but once again it was handled poorly.

There were a lot of theories about Bran eventually becoming King so even though people hated that, it's not like it came out of left field. The problem most had was how it was handled. He does NOT have the best story in westoros and he did nothing in the last two seasons. He's a side character who literally went MIA for an entire season who becomes the king. Maybe dont discard one of your main characters for an entire season and entire episodes towards the end if you want to do something with him?

Poor Hodor, all that for that ending.

But Jon Snow is a MAIN character. Spin-off are for side characters. Anything with JS is a direct continuation of the story (whatever it would be).

Holy shit, they did it? Missed me. All those pigeon pies I missed. :(

Jon Snow was one of many main characters, like Dany,Ayra and Tyrion. Gotta admit that if you read the books.

Hell the dragons could be classed as mains, King Joffrey, Stannis, Catlyn, Ned.

They all have massive roles until clipped. Including Jon-Snow, his death and resurrection was obvious from the pro-logue.

EDIT: Only an idiot thought he was gone. Was groan-worthy bad as it was signalled so many times.

2037 will be the Harry Potter and Game of Thrones crossover, from the famous authors JKRGRRM.

You're a white walker Harry. Danny didn't Expecto the fleet of ships. A wizard doesn't concern himself with the opinions of muggles.

They screwed themselves over when they tried to finish it in 13 episodes. Really, going back, a lot of glaring flaws started to pop up many seasons earlier. Just small things that didn't make a whole lot of sense. But when you don't have great writers, finishing something in a brief period of time is impossible. But the most unforgivable parts were wasting Jon's story and not even getting to fight the Night King. Even if he didn't kill him, them not even fighting after teasing it for like the entire series was a joke. A prisoner getting to pick the next king(like wtf). Grey Worm being the final boss. Like anyone would give a shit about Grey Worm. How Dany even had any men left to begin with after The Long Night. Just like characters started magically teleporting to save time, Dany kept magically having soldiers respawn. Ruined the character development of almost everyone.

But what I noted is precisely why a series like this isn't going to work. Jon's character being interesting was inexorably tied to the Night King. Everything he did in the show led toward the great battle and taking down the dead. Once they ruined that part by not even allowing him to fight and the Night King being gone, there is nothing left for Jon that's interesting. He's up in "the real north" with the wildlings with one eared Ghost. Ok, no one gives a shit. I guess they could have him head back south, as that whole part of the ending never made sense anyway. Grey Worm banished him to the north, and then sailed off into the sunset, so Jon could just be like ummm ok, so they're gone now, I really don't have to stay in the north anymore.

Exactly!, well put!

Personally be more fun if he turns into the Night King and kills himself.

1 hour long episode. After he resurrects Dani and declares "my Queen".

What happened to all these new shows? Been zero news, not that anyone cares anyway.

GoT is dead as a franchise, people will watch out of curiosity and quickly tune out. Mark my words.

They took a break and returned with episodes literally too dark where you couldn't see what was happening.

They rushed it and got told to fuck off by Disney for future work. What disrespect to the fans, the actors and the author.
