Gamepro Has its Debug 360, Halo2 works..

No, the adaptor pic is not even from GamePro. I'd guess it was the details about the limited extent of the backward compatibility at launch.

I think the fact this Johnny K guy or whatever who works for Gamepro was pretty much going on a message board talking about what games do and don't work for the 360 may have helped.

is that why the 360 boxes are marked "1 of 2"?

:P

jesus though, that thing is crazy

Oh please...this conversation would be best if you kept yourself out of it. You're Microsoft's sworn defender, we know that. This has NOTHING to do with the PS3 at all (it's actually 3rd on my list of most wanted next-gen consoles), so cut that PS3 crap talk out.

dopeyfish is one of the most pathethic xbots around here

Given the same components in a PC would require something in the neighbourhood of a 450w power supply, I fail to see how the size can be considered suprising.

I thought everyone knew about the massive adapter. I swear I saw a pic of it months ago.

If you really did see a pic of it months ago.. I have no idea how on earth that slipped through the cracks here!

hehe, or perhaps it was shrugged off as a temporary thing

If BC is so important for you, wait until the BC list is +100 or so and then buy the console. SOLVED!

its not really the point though. The point is that MS said they'd do BC. Then they said they'd aim for 100%, but might not reach it completely or at launch. That sounds like nearly 100%

If they only have 10-15 games (big if, its speculation at the moment) then they mislead people, and thats whats shitty.

If you can't do it, just come out and say no, we don't have BC.

When you take into account the extra external HDD and the size of the power supply, XBox 360 really isn't smaller than the original XBox at all.

As for BC, MS will probably stop working on it after the PS3 launches and hope people just forget about it.

Well the Kotaku story is about a month old. They weren't sure if it was a final PSU though.

It's not surprising. this is GAF, so haters are grasping. The retail power supplies are big, but smaller than the debug power suplies. But more importantly, they are why the machine is cool and silent. Haters shut the F*** up.

Also, anyone seen the power brick for the iMac mini? Same size as the PC. The PS3 will have a huge brick too.

Actually haters, keep going. Watching you bitch about the power supply of a machine you aren't buying is beyond the pale, even for here. GO FOR IT!

Stinkles

What makes you think people laughing at it aren't buying one? I am and I've got one preordered for launch, so does that mean I'm not allowed to say something critical, or I can't laugh at a funny photoshop?

Honestly the defensive fanboys on here are even worse than the "MS SUXXORS!!! XOBX 1.5!!!11!!!! idiots

Yup. Better out than in. I just hope that the power cord is long enough, so that I can hide the PSU somewhere (I had a bit of a problem with the GC brick).

Sees power supply, cancels fake preorder! :)

So cool if they fixed the popup in Halo2. I'll finish the single player game if that's the case.

Geez, all in good fun. Why so agitated?

Then they said they'd aim for 100%, but might not reach it completely or at launch.

I didn't get the "at launch" part at all. Top selling games at launch is what I remember with the promise of trying to get 100% at some point (but no guarantees).

I look at it like this.

I never expected the Xbox 360 to be backward compatible with anything before Microsoft started talking about it. I mean, it's a new graphics chip company and the sequel to a console that sold 20 million units. What were the odds? But if they get Phantom Dust and Ninja Gaiden Black, I'm happy. Oh, and Oddworld Stranger's Wrath. Never played that.

I just hope the power cord is long enough that I can hide it when the 360 is standing up next to the new, beautiful 37" LCD in my bedroom. I'm very particular about my cabling, and that thing is UGLY.

calm down, its just for shits and giggles for most of us. i dont think anyone is seriously dissing the system because of something so pointless... but, yeah, this is gaf, so i'm sure a few are :P

seriously, did you ever see the hilarious photoshopped pics of "the duke" back when xbox 1 was unvieled? someone please post that gorilla in the manufacturing plant complaining that it was too small! :lol

Because people think that the PSU is oversized. The final PSU isn't that much larger then the gamecube PSU, and like Stinkles said the PS3 will have one as large or larger, and Xbox 360 is DEAD silent.

So people complain for nothing :P

It's not so much complaining as just having fun with the opportunity to do so.

That's one thing that kinda surprised me (even though in hindsight, it shouldn't have). Looking at the connectors at the back of PS3 and X360, I thought they are going to have cables that plug directly into walls, but that's obviously not true (in case of PS3 not confirmed yet of course, but I guess it's pretty safe to say)

The PSTwo power supply is thicker than the system.

Well we have two of the three appearance-based console jabs for next generatiobn

PS3 - Grill/freezer/boomerang controller if it stays
Revolution - Remote
Xbox 360 - Giant power supply?

But in that case, the size difference from the PS2 to the PStwo was noticable. The 360 isn't smaller than the Xbox. (Yes, cross-gen vs. next-gen, but it shouldn't grow THAT big)

I don't know about you but I'm not renewing my Halo 2 subscr... I mean, Xbox Live subscription this November. So I guess that means no BC for me. And $500+ (PAL prices) to play Oblivion.

Don't forget no vents. You gotta have vents.

Why not just use the free silver subscription for BC then?
