Sony has more games coming in 2014, so why should they wait until E3 2014 to first announce them? Sony already let us know many games are being made for the PS4 within it's first year on the market, so I think it would be dumb of them to hold onto the announcements until the same year they release.

I think Sony realizes that they need to get more info out about the games they will have available for their new PS4. Microsoft teased a new HALO, teased Quantum Break, teased Sunset Overdrive, teased Titalfall as exclusives they have over the PS4, and all those are at least 2014 games. So many people think the Xbone has the games over the PS4, but Sony needs to bitch slap those fools back into reality.

Well you don't know that those are the games. And because some won't release until after June so they're best saved for E3.

Unless you really think Uncharted, and all those games are coming March - June ....

I never listed Uncharted, only The Last Guardian teaser trailer. I know those Devs have teams working on new PS4 games.

New Assassin's Creed announced for PS Vita.
PS3 and PS Vita price drops, presented as new 'value' bundles.
PS Mobile to rollout in more markets.

Microsoft
Release date announcement (early/mid November in North America, late November in Europe).
New game from Lionhead Studios.
No Crackdown 3.
A fitness game for Xbox One (possibly from Ubisoft).
Xbox One TV announcements for Europe (Sky, Orange, KPN). Possible football deal(s) as well.
World of Tanks (Xbox 360) beta goes live in Europe.
State of Decay PC release date announced.
 
Realistically for Microsoft:

- Release date for the Xbox One announced
- Indie Game Platform discussed in detail, and some XBLA style games announced alongside it.
- An extended trailer of Black Tusk's game, but I'm not convinced it will be gameplay. Probably CG or Ingame trailer at best.
- Gameplay for Quantum Break is a possibility. Maybe more ingame cutscenes and a look into the television show instead.

And choose 1-2 of the three:
- Crackdown 3
- Rare Project (I have a feeling that Rare is outsourcing more than just Killer Instict for some reason)
- Lionhead Project

Realistically for Sony:
- Further highlights of their Indie Game offerings.
- Gameplay for The Order
- Pricedrop for Playstation 3. The price between the PS3 and PS4 are simply too close at this point.
- Pricedrop for Vita. They need to stimulate sales.
- Media Molecule's new game
- Maybe the return of SCE London beyond Home
- Tarsier Studios new game. I have a feeling they'll have a Media Molecule like debut.

I think the rest will be saved for TGS and subsequent trade shows.

The only way I see a price cut for the Vita is if bundled with the PS4 otherwise I very much doubt they will drop the price until spring next year.

What I will get:
Half assed Killzone bundle.

vitas dropping the 4gb, and shifting all cards down a slot to make room for a 64 gb card.

pricing stays the same for the tiers though. it ink sony is going to try to make it through one more holiday season with a full price vita since its not being marketed as a tag along to ps4.

Reading a lot of posts in this thread I wonder if many of you realize that Gamescom is not E3.
It's a convention specifically about *games* like the name suggests.
It doesn't gravitate entirely around Sony's and Microsoft's conferences.
 
Sony:
-Vita memory card price cut. (Maybe just wishful thinking)
-$50 Vita price cut.
-Slate of additional indie games announced for Vita. (All in all, not a long showing)
-Demonstration of Vita being used for remote play.
-Three new PS4 titles announced. (Gameplay for one of them, the other two are teasers or short trailers without gameplay.)
-Teaser to let everyone know that The Last Guardian is still in the works. Nothing more.
-And hell, why not? Someone says "The Agent." (Highly doubt it though)
-Basic UI shown for game switching or something like that. (Not expansive.)
-Release date. (Late Oct for US, mid Nov for EU)

Microsoft:
-One new title announced. (Trailer, probably not actual gameplay.)
-More Titanfall and Forza gameplay, maybe CoD as well.
-Spend time showing off Fifa. (It won't look as bad as it did the first time they showed it.)
-UI shown off in depth. (Not final)
-Talk Halo's future and bring up Spartan assault and why it's a great reason to get a Surface.
-Talk about future indie approach and how the Windows ecosystem will be a big benefit.
-Release date. ("World wide" launch mid Nov)

Nintendo:
-Push Wonderful 101 and WW HD.
-Announce plans for more game specific "hang out" areas like the Animal Crossong one on Wii U.
-3DS integration in future games suggested vaguely.
-More Mario Kart 8 gameplay.
-Announce a new color (Or several) for the 3DSXL.
-Continue to toe the company line that upcoming games will be system sellers for Wii U.

Others:
-Still a lot of split gen looking stuff. Unclear about what things are really running on.
-No big game annoucemts outside of the above first parties.
-CDPR shows off a lot more of their work.
