Gamescom: Microsoft press conference (August 4; Scalebound, Crackdown, QB, H5+ more)

As I said, this was a super smart strategic move. Sony doesn't have a conference, and these other games might have been drowned out beneath the so-called "megaton" crush... now they can sing on their own, people can focus on them, and they can make Microsoft look like they're constantly unveiling a string of great titles.

With Sony and Nintendo being a no show it's basically going to be Xbox Expo Extreme.

(they have booths, just no conference. But I know what you mean)

Exactly! Microsoft knew what they were doing. When everyone was moaning about it, they knew what they were doing.

I would have played the exact same strategic card after Sony announced their next conference was at the Paris Gaming Show.

Nope. Its a UE4 game. Would be surprised if they can achieve a 60fps UE4 game on Xbone.
I doubt it.

They could make a 120 fps game running on UE4 if they wanted. If it's a huge open world game like Batman? Yea, that would likely have issues running at 60 fps. The engine is not the limiting factor.

Thanks. If they're showing off games like Horizon and UC4 they'll be getting plenty of coverage. Horizon looks pretty damn amazing!
Eh it's so close after e3 so I doubt they're have new demos ready that fast. The stuff j the floor will probably be the same stuff as e3. Same goes for Microsoft except for the games that were specifically held back for gamescom

Indeed. Very smrat.

I can almost guarantee that for the most part, they're going to show the exact same demos that they did at E3. Sony had a great E3 but one could say that they blew their load for the rest of the year. Unless they announce Half Life 3 at PSX of course.

I love a good game conference. Glad MS is bringing out the guns. Shit is always when I'm at work though. Guess ill have to live blog it like usual.

So stoked to finally see some Scalebound footage.

I expect amazing things and it's got me thinking, since MS is pushing this year as the "best lineup in Xbox history", what are they going to say about a year that may have Scalebound, Quantum Break, Recore, Cuphead, Crackdown, Gears 4, Forza Horizon 3, Ashen, Below (if it doesn't come out this year) and others?

Best lineup in Xbox History obviously :P

Santa Monica and Sony Bend megatons incoming.

Yes to hack n slash...:P

Considering the first trailer showed the main character jumping around with a sword, I think it's a given there'll be some of that at least, aside from some sort of monster fighting.

I associate 'hack and slash' more with stuff like Dynasty Warriors type stuff than with character action games though.

Sony could reveal games like the new Sony Bend, Quantic Dream, Gravity Rush 2, Bloodborne expansion, God of War and GT at Paris Games Week, TGS or PSX, as well as more on Horizon, Dreams, Rime, The Last Guardian and Uncharted 4.

They've never said "best lineup in Xbox history" has to be constrained to a calendar year...they could have just meant that what they're revealing over these two conferences (E3 and Gamescon) will make for the best lineup in Xbox history. And considering most of the rumored release dates for most of these games are within a year of when Gamescon will happen, it's not really much of a stretch for them to at least make that argument.

But I see your point. It's just PR to create hype at the end of the day.

Microsoft is set to have a solid 2016. Super excited for this Fall as well. I wish I had patience for racing genre because Forza 6 looks amazing. I tend to stop playing racing games after a few hours so it would be a waste to buy at full price.

Phil Spencer has only been the head of Xbox for a little over a year now, so realistically - we will not have begun to see his vision of Xbox until around next year or so. He's definitely steered the ship in the right direction though.

I honestly don't think Sony is going to be quiet around gamescom. Imo There will be a big showcase on the floor and also a couple of major announcements to cut down any momentum ms might get. Sony could have held back a couple of announcements just like ms to make during gamescom.
No conference doesn't mean they will be quiet. We shall see!!

I can almost guarantee you that you have no idea what you're talking about.

This is your chance to sell me on an XB1, Microsoft.

Show me dat Scalebound!

I am excited to see new things about Scalebound and Crackdown. Crackdown could be such a killer IP if they had the funding and talent of Rockstar.

I think there may be some new stuff with regards to Halo 5, as there is still quite a bit to talk about with multiplayer and campaign. I am confident we will see the Blue Team perspective from the same campaign section shown at E3. We will probably also get some new multiplayer details, not necessarily Warzone related but probably Arena combat and Forge (although Forge may be withheld for the Rooster Teeth Expo).

I know, just a wishlist, but I am extremely excited for Halo 5.

So since this won't be televised, are we still thinking 90 minutes or will they be a little more open and push it upwards?

It'll be nice to wake up and eat breakfast while watching the premieres of Crackdown and Scalebound.

Has MS ever had a superlong conference? Even before being aired on tv? I don't recall one.

I would still expect 90 minutes maximum really, let it be a pleasant surprise if it's more.

Ms have their daily shows again iirc for anything extra

You're already wrong. GOW has been speculated to be at PSX, Level 5, inhouse Japan Studio game and possibly DQ11 at TGS and QD's game at Paris at their own home. It's just hilarious wishful thinking. But lets keep this in topic rather than your hopes and dreams.

I forgot to mention that it was a bet that you would automatically win didn't I?

I'm pretty sure both Recore and bc were green lit almost as soon as he took over. He has said as much about bc in interviews and Recore haa only been in development for 14 months

I'm not getting the Quantum break love. I've watched everything I can and that game looks horrid and repetitive. Is there some good footage that I may have missed floating around?

Good god the hyperbole. It looks graphically amazing, the mechanics are interesting and since Remedy is working on in, it's bound to have a really good story. Come on, it might turn out not great, but horrid it's just wrong.

I'm sorry, but from what I saw, amazing is hardly the word I'd used to describe that footage. As I said, maybe I saw some older stuff. I am genuinely shocked when people hype it up. It looked extremely linear and it didn't suck me in. Not trying to be an ass really, why I asked for any footage that may be worth a watch.

I don't expect anyone to agree with me and I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything.

If you didn't like what you've seen so far than this might not be a game for you. I'd wait for more footage to pop up before making a final call though. Remedy games aren't for everyone that's for sure.

Yeah, you definitely might be right. I liked max Payne and such, but my tastes have changed. I was hoping maybe there was some New footage I may have missed, but I'll just wait until gamescom and see. Thanks for your reply, not trying to flame the game.
