My guess is that they didn't want to take flack for choosing a trailer that had no real-time elements, so they seperated the categories to lessen the blow.

They probably thought Stubbs was a great game, but just didn't win in any catagories The game will most likely become one of those games that people liked, but nobody bought. Giving it an award at least notifies the players of its existence

Very solid list. I agree with pretty much all of their choices.. didnt get a chance to play/see Black though. Zelda was unquestionably the game of show though and it's really showing up in terms of awards. I was only kind of so-so on NSMB but maybe I just didnt give it enough time. I was kind of confused by it really.

Nobody wants to come back saying that the nth version of Madden was the best sports game. Websites look for fresh properties or amazing graphics with their awards.....with Madden 360 hidden away it didn't really have a chance at gaining much recognition.

Hrm, did you play Strikers? I think it's deserving. Also keep in mind that Madden is a simulation game, which never comes across well in short E3 demos. Games like SM Strikers are very easy to get a feel for in a five minute demo.
