That is a lot more serious than I was expecting. I hope they all stick together as KojiPro, and continue to be focused on being multiplatform in the development of their titles

So I'm thinking about what the smartphone Metal Gear will be like and it'll probably be pretty cool! You can make it grid based, sort of like Hitman Go, but instead of a premium product they may go with an energy thing so missions and being spotted will drain your lifebar (rations restore it but cost extra). Collecting cards of MGS characters, weapons, and vehicles and using them AC!D style will be a hoot too, and they can have special monthly events so you have a chance at "capturing" special characters like Tuxedo Snake or Pliskin with their own unique attributes.

They'll probably be able to pump it out pretty quick, too, what with Kojima not being able to stop it. A win-win situation all around.
The only question in my mind is if they'll call it Metal Gear Solid 6 or not.

This is still crazy to me. It was obvious from the last thread that something had happened but for it to be this serious just shocks me.

I really hope Kojima keeps making AAA games one way or another.

As a general rule, I feel like establishing narratives where one party is pure good and another party is pure evil does nothing but obfuscate whatever the actual truth is.

Well you don't need to think someone's evil to tell them to go fuck themselves.

...Having said that I agree with the notion that we don't know what happened so this is probably premature.

So is Silent Hills now in limbo? That had 3 big names behind it, I can't see it just dying, especially after releasing PT.

This is crazy. Kojima IS Konami. Without him they may as well pack it up.

Konami isn't famous for just being an MGS factory. He isn't Konami so much as he is all that Konami has left for their games division.

The franchises that represent this company are now all gone.

If this doesn't work, I'm sure Ninja Theory would be more than willing to do the western focused reboot!

Konami really should have broadened its development strategy instead of putting so much pressure on Kojima to prop them up.

Even with an icon like Miyamoto, Nintendo has done a good job of diversifying its talent.

Kojima is saying goodbye with MGSV which makes the game even more special to me now.
I wouldn´t be surprised if there´s a easter egg of a photo showing kojima and his team with a message saying "thank you" in the game.

I don't know what to think of this.... can't believe it. Hope Metal Gear isn't ruined by konami. However without Kojima what does Konami have? Hopefully Sony or someone can buy the rights to MGS once konami closes its doors and give it to Kojima, let him make a game with it or leave it dead.

On the positive side Kojima will be free to work wherever he pleases and on probably any project he pleases. Hope to see some good stuff from him after MGS V.

Well, at least it looks like he is going out with one hell of a game. It will be interesting to see what he does next, but hopefully Silent Hills will not suffer as a result. P.T. is literally the most disturbed I have ever been while playing a game. I can't imagine that not realizing it's full potential.

His point stands and you're agreeing with him, just debating semantics.

MGS was the last major series Konami had that actually sold consistently and was viewed favorably. They've destroyed just about every other IP they have, or let them stagnate to the point that Kojima was basically the face and soul of Konami.

Konami is just a husk of shit now.

Kojima was the face of the company. I guess the higher ups couldn't handle his glory.

I hope he joins Platinum Games. He and Kamiya seem to be big buddies.

Gotta wonder how this will impact MGS V, im sure the game is feature complete at this point, but these last months are extremely important in game development, the morale at the studios could really hurt the game at this stage.

Hopefully they can all go elsewhere and keep making games they want to make.

Konami can go fuck themselves. It's going to be weird as hell playing MGSV after all of this.

AAA publishers will pretty much all meet the fate of Konami. The industry needs to go back to focused game development. When 300+ people are working on a game, you lose focus (I'm looking at you, Ubisoft). This means the end product ends up being not so good since only very few people actually get to give their input.

I'm pretty sure Konami's stock will tank once Kojima quits. It's already down and this fiasco will kill them in the long term. Also, stripping Kojima's credits (and Kojipro) is shameful really.

Hahaha Konami must be run by absolute imbeciles first they kill Team Slient, next they outsource Castlevania, then they buy and kill Hudson and now the final nail in the coffin they fire their must talented and acclaimed star designer. Kojima's too good for Konami anyway. The biggest downside is that MGS is basically dead after Phantom Pain. Konami will no doubt continue the series without KojiPro probably through outsourcing or attempt to develop it internally (lol). But without Kojima and KojiPro the game won't be a real MGS to me personally. Well at least he and the series gets to go out with a bang, I hope MGSV is as good and ambitious as it seems.
