Yep, almost zero. 2K sports should also be ashamed and they have the nerve to charge $60 for their games, at least with EA you get an obvious graphic upgrade. Outside of nba2K6 you get none of that with 2K titles.

...um, there are only a couple of 2K titles...and you get the graphic upgrade on NHL if you subscribed to the HD ERA like Allard told you to months ago. Polishing a gameplay turd (hullo NBA Live) only gets you so far, I'm too savvy to be distracted by bright shiny objects. Good graphics + better gameplay = WINNAR

You need to see 2k6 on a tv to compare. The difference between the 2 is huge IMO.

If only it were possible to take even remotely similar shots/angles/models from both games too! I guarantee the "PS3 Controller is COMFORTABLE" guy put 10x as much work into his little animation. Some equivalent MS fanboys need to get on the case.

I think its a great feature.

I think it would be, if they actually took good, comparable pictures. The King Kong, NFS, and most of the sports game comparisons (sans Madden) are utterly terrible, on top of the fact that all of the screens are of terrible image quality.

I wish this had been done better so that the screens showed the same thing on each version - the Tony Hawk one is the only one you can really compare directly.

I haven't seen a 360 running in real life yet but based on this feature I wouldn't get one at launch price for my SDTV.

I find it odd that the 360 outputs such a poor 480i/480p picture.
It seems to downscale the player models and lose the fsaa, as opposed to just downscaling the 720p image.

Just the fact that the current gen is even comparable to next gen as much as it is has to say something. The technology is just not going to be as noticeable anymore, I think we've established that by now, no sense beating it into the ground. It has nothing to do with the 360. Except the lazy devs who do shitwork.

If you do that, you should have scale the xbox1 titles to equal screen height since the 360 games will be widescreen and originals might not. There are too many black bars on the lo-res photos.

The Xbox version looks like Road Rash on 3DO by comparison. The road and road side texturing is terrible, the trees are terrible, the car is a jaggy mess (and the rear window is tinted to 0% )...

The sports games (aside from Madden and Tiger Woods) are the only ones that look terrible in this comparison. Even crap games like GUN and Tony Hawk have a noticeable improvement over the Xbox versions, well... more noticeable than I had originally thought.

If the technology won't be as noticable then why doesn't anyone believe that we'll see Killzone 2 graphics this gen? A lot of people took notice of that demo.

Many next-gen games won't appear that way until you play them.


Does every game need an intense amount of effects or hundreds of characters on screen? Of course not. Does every character need tens of thousands of polygons? Well maybe, but that doesn't always represent well in screenshots. Great lighting is really the only thing that should find its way into all next-gen screenshots.

Yeah, and not only that. You sometimes have to look for the details; because a lot of these 1st gen next gen titles are built on current gen games skeletons with a tons of tiny details added on top. Overall visual impact may not be too different from current gen, but if you look closer...

Speking of which, i'm having fun moving the camera along the streets of London in PGR3 and zooming in on buildings and shops signs...it's crazy.
I don't think i am exaggerating when i say Bizarre could have cut the polycount and texture detail by 80% and no one would have ever noticed while racing.
Modeled windows, crazy textures, statues with parallax mapping on reliefs, normalmapped shop signs, the freaking MCLaren symbol normalmapped on F1 wheels !
This is just insane; just try it if you wonder how a nextgen shenmue would look like.


Oh, and i am absolutely LOVING that motion blur effect when you turn around in PDZ and when you walk around in the garage in PGR3. It makes everything instantly look very CG ish; albeit sublte it really is something that immediately sets next gen visuals apart.
Halo 3 better have it.

ya, i noticed that also.

one thing to keep in mind also is that these comparison shots cannot show other graphical differences like smoother and higher framerates not to mention animations.
