I mentioned it earlier. Take away Wii U and DS and you have what the $30 Wii can do. That was my justification.
But you can't play them from the disc right?
I believe you can - with homebrew, through the Wii App.

I traded in my Xbox One towards the Switch using this deal today. It felt a little weird, having never traded in a console before. Really though, that thing was offering nothing to me as someone who also has a PS4 and PC, and there's very little on the horizon for me. Plus, with Nintendo introducing paid online, the unfortunate reality there is that I can't justify paying for three services, so Xbox Live had to go.
Wait, your Gamestop is taking pre-orders for the Switch? Mine wouldn't give me the extra credit since they ran out of pre-orders.

Had the same issue.
If you can find an employee who will put it on someone else's existing preorder and then immediately refund the trade amount to a gift card you can still do it.
It won't interfere at all with the person's preorder and you will get the promo bonus credit.
Can I trade more than one system and get 75$ on top of trade in value for both? I traded in an OG PS4 a couple of days ago towards switch for 200$ credit minus pro membership of 15$. Can I trade in a 3ds today and get the 75 extra credit and put towards the existing switch preorder?
But you can't play them from the disc right?
Interesting. But you won't actually get a pre-order right? Just the extra credit?
Might have to try this out.
Yeah you won't get a preorder because there are no more. It's just a work around to get the bonus credit still. Because for them to do it they have to apply it to an existing or new preorder.
A way you can check without directly asking is just call around and ask about the trade promo and that you really want to trade in your console but it wasn't possible to secure one and that you'd use it towards the switch when more are released. The employees who will do this will take care of you. Or if you're comfortable you can just tell them about the method and ask directly.
I'm friends with the manager of my GameStop so it was easy for me.

You guys are insane for trading in your consoles. I can never see myself doing that - not even for $3.5 million dollars.
I just got an email today saying that because I preordered the switch online, I'm eligible for this deal in store this upcoming week. Like I'll get it in trade credit. Don't have to apply it towards switch I think.
They gave me a coupon code in my email to give the associate tomorrow.
The real question is, what the hell does Gamestop want all these Wii U's for?

Bumping this thread cause I have a question: I traded in some stuff for the 50% extra trade-in towards my Switch pre-order but they said it's 40%. You get the extra 10% if you're a Pro member. I can't find anyone who had this experience and nothing in their online language suggests this. Can anyone shed some light on this or should I go in and persist until they give me the full 50%?

Says it right on their website. 50% for pro members, 40% for everyone else.

The app states 50% trade in credit towards Switch games and Switch accessories. No mention of applying credit towards the Switch hardware.
There's a 40% extra trade in credit towards any system if you're a Pro member.
Any benefits for games? About $25 for Mario Kart 8. Might as well sell it with the better Switch version on the way.
I have Zelda and the Switch on the same pre-order, so it doesn't matter either way.
Again, there seems to be no indication that I should get 40% plus 10%, but rather that 50% for Basic and 50% + 10% for Pro.

See the giant banner on this page for Switch games and accessories. 50% and PUR always gets 10% extra so it should be 60%.
You are wrong.
Looks like it was all in the way it was rung up.
You were rung up properly for someone putting money down on the system. They're offering 40% for that. Not sure if you stated that's what you intended the trades for?
But as the poster above proved you could've made out better by putting money down on an accessory to get the 50% (60% for Pro). Only $5 would've been required and you'd be free to put the rest on the Switch system.
It's all in how you handled the transaction.
Can you trade in your stuff, get the 50% bonus by putting it down for a switch game, then change it the next day to a PS4 game but keep the bonus credit.
