GameTrailers Most Anticipated Games Of 2010

Why do I keep seeing Red Dead Redemption popping up on these lists? I mean, did anybody actually LIKE Red Dead Revolver?
I LOVED Red Dead Revolver.

And I agree with the list somewhat, Metroid: Other M is the game I'm most hyped for other than Zelda.

I feel the same way about the Prime series (gameplay) compared to Super Metroid. ;) To each their own.

Prime 1 and 2 are pretty fun if you do SB stuff. Otherwise, yeah they are pretty meh.

I haven't been able to get into Echoes much besides admiring the art direction (I have a thing for the hunter ing <3), but I did play the original Prime religiously for a while. It's a shame they've subsequently done everything within their power to neuter the sequence breaks though. They were the only thing that really kept me replaying it.

2's more of a pain in the ass to SB though. I haven't actually finished the game in years due to some of the later stuff. But 1 is still lots of fun whenever I give it a whirl.

lol @ the comments section,

"The God of War 3 footage looks so ugly graphically compared to the other games in this video. Ugh, PS3 is aging fast."

:lol

Not bad list tbh, quite intrigued about Castlevania, although ultimately Halo Reach is at the top of my most wanted list atm, I've always been a sucker for the Halo franchise, will be nice to see it with updated GFX's, ODST although a great game imo looked dated.

pretty good list. it's a testament to the quality of 2010's lineup is that there's so much missing from it.

not getting the hype for other m, personally. looks like a total regression from the excellent Prime series.

I don't get the hype for Metroid either.

Oh wait- yes I do. It's been 16 years since a new Metroid game hit a Nintendo console.

1. Metroid Other M
2. Mario Galaxy 2
3. God of War 3
4. Mass Effect 2
5. StarCraft 2
6. Halo Reach
7. Castlevania Lords of Shadow
8. Bioshock 2
9. Red Dead Redemption
10. FFXIII
:lol

I don't know how a game we've seen and heard from so little can be number 1. There are plenty of other deserving games that we actually know will make 2010 that should be on there. But who am I kidding, I'm not here to start list warz.

So,

No Gran Turismo 5,
No Splinter Cell Conviction,
No Last Guardian,
No Heavy Rain,
No Alan Wake,

Well, there opinion is just that......an opinion, but in this case GameTrailers are Wrong!!

The lack of heavy rain doesn`t surprise me...

Mostly because of....

This list makes way, way more sense when you think about it in terms of potential.

By all rights, Lords of Shadow should be really mediocre, and in this day and age and judging from the gameplay footage, play pretty much like a more platformy god of war.

But what if it`s not? What if it's gonna be super awesome and different, and blow everything else away! An actual awesome 3D castlevania!!?!?!?

Then it's inclusion on a list like this makes more sense.

It doesn't surprise me for other reasons. They probably have it now anyway, they've probably had the preview build for ages, so they either can't really comment about it, or they don't think it's worth commenting on.

TLG is the biggest omission for me, but it's probably not making it this year anyway.

Noshino said:
oh, it did, its nowhere near as good as the sidescrollers

Anyway, although I don't agree with SMG2, I do agree with Metroid M, funny how I now trust others more than Nintendo when it comes to Nintendo IPs :lol

You could not be further from the truth in regards to Metroid Prime 1.

2011's gotta have somethin'. I'd settle for Orange Box 2, TLG, and Beyond Good & Evil 2 as next year's holy trinity.

That'd be pretty much incredible, VersusXIII is probably next year too... wow

I'd be surprised if StarCraft 2 makes it out this year.

The list is pretty close to my own, except i'd find a way of getting Peace Walker and Valkyria Chronicles 2 in there. I doubt portable titles get an audience with so much coming to PC and consoles, which is a pity.

metroid might be amazing but the art looks stupid. much more damning is the lack of mickey mouse or brink

what's more damning is the lack of handheld games. peace walker, valkyria chronicles, infinite space and strange journey will ownt the shit out of most of that list

i'm also confused as to why FF13, Mass Effect 2 and Castlevania are on there

Let me show you them. :lol

Seriously, the backlash on Metroid Other M is going to be brutal. I'm not sure I want to even check the official thread when it's created. Then 5 years later, we'll get the LTTP threads and a lot of people will say the game was a flawed masterpiece and whatnot.

Not AniHawk, though, not him. Not ever. :lol

2010 is getting more interesting each day. When does the E3 hype thread go up? :D

that list isn't half bad, considering where it came from -- the omission of some obvious candidates (Alan Wake and The Last Guardian, mostly) non-withstanding.

Not a bad list...It's tough because we know so little about some of these games and then you have games like Mass Effect 2 and Bioshock 2 coming out so soon. Of course it's all moot since the year's best game already came out.

Edit: I'm not holding my breath for The Last Guardian coming out this year, but if it does, that should be right at the top of the list.

I'm pretty sure Metroid: Other M will surprise more than disappoint, I loved the prime series but I always wanted to see Metroid in 3rd person 3D.

Whens this years E3 anyway?

Great list! Nice to see Nintendo's epic E3 announcements are finally getting some recognition. Oh and GOW3 gives me a raging geek boner every time I see it. Nice to see Kratos, Mario, and Samus ahead of the Halo hype machine. I am a bit disappointed by the lack of Heavy Rain. I figured it was in the running since ME2 was on there.

Wether you liked the Prime series or not, their impact was pretty significant, now with a new change for the series I can easily understand why it's being one of the most anticipated games of 2010.

Personally I can't fucking wait, I'm in the group of Metroid fans who found Super Metroid to be an incredible masterpiece and Metroid Prime to be a great masterpiece, so maybe Other M = Masterpiece?

Do not compare Heavy Rain with Mass Effect! Mass Effect actually has gameplay.

GAF is going to be unbearable around the time of HR's release with posters such as yourself around I think.

I never knew your hate for Metroid extended to Fusion and Zero Mission!

Zero Mission is at least half a new game! :lol

That list is very similar to my list, but in a totally different order. I most definitely wouldn't put Metroid Other M at number 1. I'd also replace Halo Reach and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow with maybe Heavy Rain and Alan Wake.

I'd include Gran Turismo 5 as well, but I still haven't played much Forza 3 as it is. And how different is Gran Turismo 5 going to be from Forza 3, really? For someone who's not a car nut but loves playing racing sims anyway, there's very little that distinguishes one racing sim from another racing sim.

I believe Last Guardian isn't on the list because it probably won't come out this year.

Hey man it was a joke :lol

I'll most likely play the game in the near future. Pus, us Richard Linklater fans gotta stick together :)

Oh sorry I didn't elabroate on that. Well it mostly from an older Nintendo/Metroid fan's point of view, Metroid Prime pretty much blew people away. It delivered by being one of the best games of all times.

Zero Mission gets shat on so spectacularly usually. I would assume it's by the same people who think Metroid Prime 2 is a good game. They don't even pretend to have played Fusion.

I know I'm going to play it and I know I'm going to enjoy it, but I'm not sure if I'm going to love it (or if it's going to be loved by everybody). The animeish/heavy-cutscene feel that I got from the trailer (and the fact that the only games I've ever enjoyed out of Tecmo are Fatal Frame and Rygar) make me feel a little bit nervous about this game.

June, I think, not 100% sure.

D:

Other than the zero suit section of zero mission, there wasn't really much if any to dislike about the Metroid games.
