1. Metroid Other M
2. Mario Galaxy 2
3. God of War 3
4. Mass Effect 2
5. StarCraft 2
6. Halo Reach
7. Castlevania Lords of Shadow
8. Bioshock 2
9. Red Dead Redemption
10. FFXIII

I can get by this list....I'll play/buy all of these...assuming they all make 2010.

Which is probably a pretty big assumption

Oh sorry I didn't elabroate on that. Well it mostly from an older Nintendo/Metroid fan's point of view, Metroid Prime pretty much blew people away. It delivered by being one of the best games of all times.

Im a fan of the old Nintendo/Metroid, and no, it didn't blow me away, actually, the only thing that blew me away were the first snips of information about the game, but once I played it, I was disappointed.

Look, Im not denying that it was a good game, because it was, but it wasn't a good Metroid game.

Also, you still didn't elaborate on the game/series' impact...

Citizen Kane of video games.

It never gets old :lol

I might have liked Prime (series) if it wasn't in first person.

That pretty much the same thing as saying I might like Mario if I didnt have to jump all the time. Its part of what makes the experience awesome. It also had good FP jumping, one of the greatest feats in video games.

Other than the zero suit section of zero mission, there wasn't really much if any to dislike about the Metroid games.

So you hate everything Metroid that does something outside what Super Metroid established?

I just prefer seeing my character on screen like in a normal Metroid game.

I am saddened and astonished by the Metroid Prime hate. Saddened and astonished.

And why is that?

Hey, these are the people who love to hate on some of the best games of all time (Zelda TP, Bioshock, etc.) -- what else could you expect? :lol

I am in no way sold Other-M is going to be good, so I'll be pleasantly surprised if it is. I've been so starved of a 2d Metroid for so long though, so unless its hardcore explorery Metroid and not Metroid Gaiden Executions n Anime Cutscenes, I will most likely go mad with the hunger.

Good to see Lords of the Shadow on that list though. No other trailer has sent such chills down my spine in quite some time.

Eh. Highly disagree with their number one. If any game should've been there, leaving the rest as they were, it should've been Alan Wake.

Not a bad list overall, though.

So you have less faith in a joint Nintendo-Team Ninja project than in a game from the developers of Scrapland and Jericho? Gotcha.

I'd love to see Other M silence the doubters, but even if it isn't the best thing since sliced bread it'll still have gotten the series back in 3rd person where it belongs. Not to mention I'm ecstatic to see Sakamoto at the helm once more.

I doff my hat off to you good sir!

This would also have worked with Rocksteady as well, who recently just provided one of/if not THE best 3rd person Metroid alike experiences to be had on any console. Nice try though!

When exactly did it become normal and acceptable to have GT5 missing from that kind of list ? I was expecting some kind of meltdown and I'm sorely disappointed.
Since this gen has already had at least 3 racing sim games, one of which was a demo for GT5?

The games I'm most anticipating aren't on here: Etrian Odyssey 3, Strange Journey, 7th Dragon, Zelda 2010... But, it's a pretty good list.

RPGManiac said:
I'm surprised that Heavy Rain isn't on there.
Really? Most of the stuff shown for that game makes it look interesting from a story-telling point of view but not much of a game.

BertramCooper said:
Kinda surprised not to see Epic Mickey on the list.

I mean, it's Warren Freaking Spector, after all.

Yeah, the dude who green-lit unified ammo.

The trailer was neat, but Jericho and grandmaster cutscene is a troubling blend. Hoping for the best, but I haven't liked anything by Kojima, ever.

I agree with Metroid: Other M for the simple fact, at least to be, it is the game with the most mystery about it. I mean outside of the e3 trailer and some interviews, we know next to nothing about the game. Hell we don't even know what type of game it is to be fair. So I'm just want to get more information on it.

LOL at posters expressing surprise Mafia 2 isn't on the list.

This is GameTrailers. The house Shane Satterfield built.

I bet you not a single person from GameTrailers have played Mafia.

It was a PC game for christ's sake. PC!
Yes, I know there was a shitty console port

They just put Starcraft 2 on there to ward of criticism. "Shit guys we need to have a PC game on here, anybody got any ideas"

Only games I care about on that list are,

Final Fantasy XIII
Castlevania: Lord of Shadows
God of War III
Super Mario Galaxy 2

Where the fuck is Gran Turismo 5?! That should be easily in the top 5.

I see nothing but disappointment in Other M's future. Serious: People need to tone down their expectations just a bit. It's such an unproven quantity at this point, it's hard to imagine how it achieved #1 on their list.

Well, you might say that it deserves a higher place than Castlevania made by Jericho developers.

By the way, what the hell does the "Other M" mean? I must be missing something, cuz it makes no sense to me, like Armored Core: For Answer.

But Castlevania is somehow tangentially related to Hideo Kojima. You can't seriously tell me you're surprised to see that game on there after knowing he was involved in some capacity.

Then again, if people can go bananas over a game developed by fucking Rebellion, I can see how others could go bananas over something developed by the dudes behind Jericho.

Well, this list just proves that publishers are worse than Hollywood when it comes to churning out sequels. Not that I'm complaining too much, they're all sequels to great (or supposedly great) games.

2010 is shaping up to be one hell of a year for gaming. Pretty much every single game on that list interests me, and it's only ten out of the many games currently set to release this year. My wallet is already quivering at the thought of what GDC/E3 will bring for releases later in the year.

Hey now, I hate Metroid Prime with a burning passion and cry myself to sleep every night curse every day that goes by without an announcement of a new 2D Metroid. You can't just lump us all together.

Clearly, 10 spots is just not big enough to make everyone happy. All 10 of those games are worthy of being in the top 10, but so are a bunch of other games.

I never knew your hate for Metroid extended to Fusion and Zero Mission!

Zero Mission is at least half a new game! :lol

I said console. It's been "only" 8 years since a brand new Metroid game at all.

The comments on gametrailers are gold. The Wii hate runs deep. :lol

To me Metroid: Other M looks like a winner
- Team Ninja's action game experience
- R&D 1
- Sakamoto himself oversees everything
- Nintendo QA and testing will kill every bug/flaw/error in the game
- It seems like Nintendo allocated quite a budget for the title

Not to mention that in the interviews Sakamoto talked about exploration and any doubt I had about the game. The music will be godly(going by that trailer). Some CG looked early and other parts looked great and Metroid is a great universe to expand on.

people going on about castlevania because of kojima, what do you have to say about peacewlaker?

the demo was one of the best i've ever played. the game has 4 player co-op AND competitive play. the controls are spot on and the story seems pretty interesting. You even have a homebase which you can populate with dudes you capture. the more dudes you get the bigger the base and more powers, upgrades and abilities you unlock

Anyone know why when I try to download something from this stupid site (Warcraft retrospective in this case) it craps out around 5 mbs in?

Overall I don't really think the list is bad, mine would be different obviously since it's down to personal taste.

The being said however, I really don't get how the Metroid game can be number 1. Unless I'm mistaken we don't really know anything about the game except the bits we could pick up on in the initial teaser/trailer, which really wasn't a lot.

I mean, at this point in time is there really any reason for Other M to be number 1 other than the whole "z0mg new metroid game!!!!1!" factor?

Metroid + Sakamoto + Team Ninja + Return to 3rd person = Excitement

It's not hard to imagine how it achieved #1 on the list at all. You may consider it an "unproven quantity", but it's not difficult to see the pedigree of this game. Not to mention how interesting the whole R&D1/Team Ninja collaboration angle is. Nintendo has farmed out franchises out before, but it's less common to see one of their in house development teams working directly with another top tier developer on such a large project.

Noshino said:
Don't call it Metroid, that series played nothing like Metroid.

Yes it did. It played exactly like previous Metroid game. Except for the obligatory changes for the new gen.

Having a great team of people working on a game I know nothing about other than being a new metroid game is still not enough to warrant a number 1 spot imo :P

Engrish ftl. Other M is a completely retarded subtitle.
